Re: (Anime) DearS English dub
When anime gets dubbed, a piece of the world dies.
Sidenote ; I still prefer subs, kay, but thanks anyways.
Note ; This is a sd quality video.
Most likely 480p or lower.
Re: (Anime) DearS English dub
I tend to prefer dubs as my Japanese is not up to the task of fully understanding some conversations in animes...
But DearS and Elfinlied are 2 Animes with fucking terrible dubs so I deal with having to watch some scenes multiple times to get the meaning and just watch it in Japanese(i refuse to use subtitles you might as well be reading a book honestly)
Re: (Anime) DearS English dub
You definitely have no idea what an "animation" is.
The subtle difference between reading to understand and reading to know.
If subs are a disappointment to you, dubs should be considered nothing less of a disgrace.
No offense intended, but we read to understand the story.
We don't read to know what is being animated.
Thats why its called an ANIMATION. The subs are to provide story.
The Japanese language is one of the main reasons why anime is so beloved.
Story and drawing style aside, it still is.
To those who love to hear it, there are also subs for those who don't understand it.
Re: (Anime) DearS English dub
I would rather sit back relax and understand the story without having to sit close enough to my monitor to read the subs.
Also its like reading something while someone is saying the same thing in a different language that you understand at least partially... it just causes me more stress lol
And idk about Japanese being a reason people like anime... the Animation style, Story styles and such I can understand but the language? there are other languages that are nicer sounding(I like Latin)... I thought Japanese songs were nice when I hadn't started learning Japanese because the voices not making any sense became something lie another part of the background music... but now understanding the language I can understand the meaning of the words and they have become nothing but words(and words i have to think about harder then English at that)
Meh but yeh, I'll stick with dubs when they are done well(Eureka 7, Code Geass, Eden of the East, Welcome to the NHK, Haruhi Suzumiya and such are really well done)
guess what I'm saying is until your fluent in Japanese dubs are alot easier then subs :\ and some are really not bad at all

(Is your eyesight that bad?)

(This sentence both does not make sense and makes me wonder how you find it stressful at all.)

(Harder than English? There is NO language more complicated than English, make sure you get that part in to your skull first.
And it IS a reason. You definitely don't know enough about anime to know this, then, WHY do you think most of the world want their anime to be in subtitle rather than dubbed?
Considering the voices can be easily vocaloid tune'd and dubbed, why aren't there many[hardly any] fandub sites?
Even if you didn't consider that, at least consider why dubs are rare compared to subs.)

(I am disappointed, not that you have to be concerned with that.
When dubbed, it lost some of the voice styles in the original series[if you seen the nhk, eureka and haruhi dubs, then you SHOULD know this] All languages have different accent qualities that make them unique, and for all sakes and reasons, they also HAVE unique tones to match them. I can speak mandarin, cantonese, malay, english, japanese[katakana still not too good], and some hokkien. There is a very obvious difference in tones that you'd notice if you knew. And even if you didn't, you would notice the obvious tone differences from English->Japanese and vice versa.)

(Easier...? I'm a few more words away from calling you "lame at coming up with stuff". You know that brain you got? Use it, please, just use it. Unless you didn't know how to read, I don't get how it would be "easier".)
I know I text wall'd.
Couldn't really help it.
Most of what you wrote made me laugh, I thought you were joking until I saw how long it was.
You can ignore this if you want, its my own personal info.
Personal, yet proven, nonetheless.
Its not on topic, you have no obligation to read this, thats up to you. I'm not so much interested in convincing anyone as much as to at LEAST give them a chance to allow themselves to be corrected.
Re: (Anime) DearS English dub
LOL because tones are what people care about not story?
That's why there's so many English shows dubbed into Japanese right?
Re: (Anime) DearS English dub
I like subtitles. If you have a problem with it, I suggest you ignore them/turn it off.

On another note, I do agree that dubs can seem a bit odd... especially when it sounds nothing like the japanese version :o (cough bleach cough)

I'm starting to become disappointed.
Tones show emotion, a very vital essence of every story.
If you didn't know that much, read a book, it might help.
And I don't think so.
English shows dubbed into japanese?
The only ones I know of are cartoons like spongebob and ben10.
No joke intended.
I told you already, think what you will, but come up with some good support. I've already given my views in that wall of text in my previous post.
Re: (Anime) DearS English dub
your reasoning is overall retarded
You basically are saying.. the only language that can show emotion is Japanese... honestly most non Japanese speaking people will understand emotion in their native language more...
Saying that a well done English dub isn't as good just because its not in Japanese is seriously stupid... honestly if the voice-over work is well done then a version in German would be fine if that happened to be your native language.
Saying the only option is Japanese for it to be good is just you being an elitist prick. It's a language I understand and I still choose dubs when their well done
Don't let the (few) bad dubs out there fool you if your English is better then your Japanese then a dub will normally be fine AND you can get friends to start watching anime with a dub much easier

You should google the word "retarded". Just saying.

You got it half right. Only half, though.
I said nothing about "only language". I said it had unique expressions to the language alone. Trust me, if you tried to dub a care-free/blank expression line into English, it would both sound retarded and appear more to be ignorance or ridicule.
Which is why its almost never done that way. All the words are translated in a way to make the story as 'sensible' as it can be in that language. Don't deny this if you've watched dubs, its true.
Yes, there are expressions/emotions that are unique to certain languages and their accents. If you only know one or two languages, then of course, I can't help with that.
Saying that a well done English dub isn't as good just because its not in Japanese is seriously stupid... honestly if the voice-over work is well done then a version in German would be fine if that happened to be your native language.
Isn't as good? I'm not even going to call it 'good'.
And of COURSE it isn't in Japanese. Why would it be? Its a dub.
"Is seriously stupid".
Those words would sum you up for me, if I had to resort to using insults.
Honestly, it would be better TO the person, but in relation, the series is ruined BECAUSE it losses something in the translation.
The Japanese language is unique, as are all other languages.
Saying the only option is Japanese for it to be good is just you being an elitist prick. It's a language I understand and I still choose dubs when their well done
Elitist prick? I'm not even sure of what that means.
And just so you know, the only idiot who mentioned "only option", was you. Read my posts. I merely state my personal disgust for dubs. Only you think that I would only consider dubs.
I say the anime is ruined, but you bluster on about the language.
Honestly, I understand it too, up to a point, being bad at general katakana, but if you "understand" it, you should at least be able to tell that there are different, unique expressions that sound retarded, and have never been applied in dubs. Don't play my game, you're not going to win because you didn't read the rules.
Don't let the (few) bad dubs out there fool you if your English is better then your Japanese then a dub will normally be fine AND you can get friends to start watching anime with a dub much easier
I've watched every dub that has shown up to me, from Hayate no Gotoku, to shakugan no shana, all the way to TTGL and etc. I never said anything about not watching dubs. I only said I didn't like them. A disappointment. The fact that its easier doesn't make it any less disgusting to me.
Before I forget, no, your term for 'normally' isn't accurate.
I told you already, the reason why there are more subs than dubs is BECAUSE people 'NORMALLY' prefer subs over dubs.
I won't hold it against you if you didn't read my post, it was long, and I won't hold it against you for not reading this one, either.
But I won't take you as seriously as I should, could, or would have.
I will do what I can to read all the content of your posts, its a bad habit I picked up after modding for too many forums.
