Re: Cheap Media PC Questions
I get that you want to build a htpc.
Right? Right.
Case - any cheap tower case.
Power supply - CORSAIR Builder CX430
Motherboard - AsRock M3A770DE AM3
CPU - AMD Athlon II X2 250 3.0GHz
RAM - A-DATA 4GB (2 x 2GB)
Video card - HIS Radeon HD 4670 1GB
HDD - SAMSUNG Spinpoint F3 500GB
If you don't know how to assemble a PC, just buy a pre made one.
They do deliver less performance for the price tho, and you'll also probably never going to learn how to build one.
Here, for pre assembled.

Re: Cheap Media PC Questions
Or you know, you could just get a game console...other than the Wii.
both my Ps3 and Xbox360 serve me perfectly fine as my media centre.
Re: Cheap Media PC Questions
You think it's worth it to get a PS3 or Xbox 360 rather than building a little media PC?
Re: Cheap Media PC Questions
In all honesty, I do. Especially the 360.
Facebook, Twitter, Netflix, you can share appies via media center (I set up a NES emu via that way, its buggy but it works) plus you get games obviously.
PS3 has some of the same features but I find myself using my PS3 for just games, but 360 for movies, music, etc.
Not to mention the 360 you can plug in a FAT32 formatted external HDD and put movies on it etc.
Re: Cheap Media PC Questions
And to finish your build use XBMC :D
XBMC
Re: Cheap Media PC Questions
I enjoyed having XBMC on my xbox 1. Looked into coding for the 360 but there arent enough people that can run unsigned code and the lack of documentation made it retardedly hard to do anything. Sadly 360 homebrew has a long way to go.
Re: Cheap Media PC Questions
Ohh oups didn't notice the reply about xbox/ps3.
But yea now you mentioned it, xbox would be the best for media center. Plus it's kinda cheaper and you get more out of it.
Re: Cheap Media PC Questions
That makes sense, I think I'll probably just purchase an xbox 360 and have it modded and connect an external harddrive if possible.
