Perfect World Private - ¤ The Complete PW Package ¤
This is a complete package of the game "Perfect World" for PC
The server from this package runs on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS x64
The client runs on WinXP+ operating systems
There is also a 'tools' disc included (pw_dev.iso) so that one can modify the server/client to their liking
The server has been made a simple and straightforward installation. All you have to do to install the server is mount/burn the ISO and run the corresponding installation for it. "./install-pw" will install v136, "./install-131" will install v131, "./install-146" will install v146, and "./install-fw" will install fw(v0517). v136 is the "base" package and REQUIRED to install any of the "addons" which include v131, v146, and fw(v0517). All can be installed at the same time but they cannot be ran simultaneously (only one can be ran at a time). There is a service included to switch between the active installed versions called pwversion (merely type "service pwversion" in the Linux terminal to switch between active versions). These can also be installed as a system service/daemon (if you have a worthy system [with enough RAM]) so that there is NO human interaction required to boot up the server besides pressing the power button (or starting up the virtual machine). Note: If you don't have a good enough system or just don't desire to run as a system service/daemon you can simply navigate a web browser to your server @ http://your.server.ip.address/admin to start one game map at a time. The servers HTTPD, MySQL, Tomcat, etc, are all started automatically no matter what (for this reason). If your servers IP changes (for any reason), use "./ipset.sh" located in /root/ to change the IP configurations that were set during the installation.
The client doesn't really need 'instructions' whatsoever, just mount/burn the ISO and install, then it's ready to launch/play. You only need to set the IP of the server to connect to in serverlist.txt (server.lua for FW). For more advanced users there is an auto patcher (CPW) with this package and the two files: updateserver.txt and mainuni.xml also need the IP of the server set in them for the patcher to work.
There is an entire WEALTH of knowledge about this package in a file called "adminnotes.txt" that can actually be found in two locations. A copy of adminnotes.txt is included with pw_dev.iso in a directory named AdminNotes and with the v136 base installation package in /root/notes/
Some of the more technical aspects/details:
This (server) package (and all of the 'addons') *MUST* be installed as the root user/account of Linux!
This (server) package MUST be installed on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS x64 (included)!
Ports (what ports this package will utilize):
-29000 this is the game port (server-client game communications)
-80 a basic website that is ran on the server so that accounts can be registered (and more even including a help desk)
-8080 a tomcat JSP container for the above website and administrator controls
-3306 the MySQL database for user accounts (should not be open to WAN if running a public server)
Default passwords (CaSe SeNsItIvE):
MySQL = username:root password:root (access from localhost ONLY)
MySQL = username:pwAdmin password:root (access from ANY host)[ie... for BatGM, or Navicat]
.htaccess (/opt/lampp/security/restricted.users & restricted.groups) = username:pwAdmin password:root
pwAdmin = root
hesk (help desk/ticket system) = username:Administrator password:admin

Here is my ¤ complete PW package ¤. It contains the server, client, development tools, and documentation.
Please note - that this release is intended as an entire package. That is, this server is NOT meant to be used with other clients, and this client is NOT intended for use with other servers etcetera... If you do attempt to use other clients with this server, or other servers with this client you WILL run into PROBLEMS!
SIDE NOTE:
Within the client you may receive a false positive (if you run any AVG's) on patcher.exe (The one in /spatcher/) -- However, I can assure this is not a threat (and that it IS a false positive) -- those who don't believe me can verify for themselves since sPATCH is an open source program released by our very own Ronny
Those who continue to bring up this false positive in this thread WILL receive an infraction...
(oldPost#2)
Server Installation:
-- Install Linux server
Spoiler:
if you've installed Ubuntu (or any other flavor of Linux that may actually 'disable' the root account) you need to first log in as the 'normal user' that you created during installation and 'activate' the root account by doing the following
Code:
sudo passwd root
the rest of these steps should be performed as 'root'
-- Mount server ISO (or physical disc), and copy all to system root
Spoiler:
example:
mount /dev/cdrom /cdrom
cd /cdrom
cp -R * /
-- IF you are running a 64-bit version of Linux -- install ia32-libs
Spoiler:
cd /root/ia32-libs
./install.sh
or
apt-get install ia32-libs
-- Install xampp/lampp, and database
Code:
cd /root/notes
./setup.sh
-- After the system reboots you are all set to start the server (logged in as 'root')
Once you have your server started -- you can navigate to its IP (from your 'client' PC) to view the 'PW website' where you can: register an account, change an existing accounts password, 'purchase' gold, Get an Item, Manage your guild icon, view player rankings, and view the knowledge-base -or- submit a ticket...
Additionally, if you navigate to your.servers.ip/admin that will bring you directly to pwAdmin ;)
(and of course serverlist.txt on the client side /element/userdata/server/)
(and of course within patcher, if you'll be using a patcher [on the client side])
Great job sir, may I suggest putting up a little information details regarding this release (guessing that is what the reserved post is for), like what official features are working, are client models 1.3.6 friendly, etc.
Again, thanks and keep up the good work.

Yea, I left myself a reserve spot for (any reason really) including as you mentioned, for any 'instructions' or 'details'...
Only problem is, I honestly cannot remember *everything* about this 'release' since this is a collective of all my work for the past couple of years...

Thanks, I do believe this is the most comprehensive release to date. As I said this is an entire collective of all my hard work for the past couple of years. It's hard to even attempt to recall all that I've done over those few years... It ranges from the tome/heaven book fix; to merely including a lot of documentation that normally a person would have had to come back to the boards to figure out (like changing guild icons for one example)...

...ohh yea, and of course I almost forgot, my entire 'website' (for register etc.) is in here too [I worked pretty hard on that]...

There is really just a LOT to this release, and I think you will all have to check it out to really see how much there is to it ;)

search from now on, or receive no more help :p
we don't wipe each others asses here :x
Well, I guess I am going to have to take that back too; because this release will all short of wipe your ass =\
I even included ia32-libs (in /root/ia32-libs) for those running a 64-bit server [with /root/ia32-libs/install.sh to install them].
In /root/notes there is a script that will install xampp/lampp, and even create and populate all databases needed for PW (and pwAdmin, and rankings)...

Megaupload... *cough* Will take forever to download + the waiting time between each downloads.
Does it include elements.data and tasks.data converted from genesis? What's new inside this package?

Yea, I think it will be, it is a really comprehensive release. I also designed it to be close to a 'deploy-able' status (not just something for people to 'dick around with'), with certain security measures already in place... ie: pwAdmin actually operates on port 8443, but for jsp's such as getgold and getitem -- still operate on a separate jsp container that operates on port 8080; So, server admins can leave port 8080 open to the WAN, while leaving port 8443 closed for pwAdmin security ;) :D

343 you should have edited out the links in the first post and put that they were down in that post. If you are reuploading there isnt any need for the original links to be there since the links will be different. This would also avoid confusion.

This release is as close to 'official' (little to no custom content) as I could possibly do. The only real customization on my server was my 'remake' of the Chapel, and the only thing I did with that was move the matchmaker inside (so you actually get married IN the chapel), and that would easily be undone by removing my 'custom' NPC from the npcgen (chapel guide).
One of my biggest 'complaints' ("if you will") of most private servers and/or releases was the mounds of custom content. So all my work for the past 2 years has been making a good 'base' release that would very closely 'mimic' the 'official' game...
You may like this release :)
---------- Post added at 12:58 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:40 AM ----------
...oh and there technically are other 'custom' things, but nothing that would be noticed from the 'players end'
such as: Das and I found out that big jump/small jump is somehow controlled by the world ID tag number. so for instances like the perfect chapel ; well in my release the perfect chapel has a world ID tag of 334 so that it will permit "big jump" -- like in official. same with chrono world/Old Heavens Tear -- in my release it has a world tag og 333, so that 'big jump' IS permitted (like on official)... For reasons like this, is why I said use this client with this server, not to attempt to use other clients with this server or other servers with this client (or it will cause problems) that's the reason, because I tried to do things that would make this release mimic the official game, but they vary so much from other releases...

Just, when I use ifconfig, I get 10.0.2.15 as my IP?!
I tried changing this in hosts, interfaces and resolv.conf.
I restart connection, yet it wont work. I can only connect to Internet using DHCP, and then I jump back to that strange IP.

What 'flavor' of Linux are you using? Are you using a fresh install, or an existing one?
I initially designed this package based off of Ubuntu server x86 or x64, and haven't personally had any permissions issues when doing all fresh installs (during testing, logged in as root)... I would imagine different distros of Linux may run into issues with this or the variant locations of libraries (which is one reason I just recommended Ubuntu)...
As far as the IP issue, I'm really drawing a blank... My network is a 10.0.0.x network, but the only real file that is included in my package as far as the *system* goes is /etc/hosts =\ So if you've set your hosts file and /etc/network/interfaces correct I am drawing blanks (at least for the moment)...
Are you running a virtual machine, or a physical machine?
---------- Post added at 03:48 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:35 PM ----------
...The only thing I could think of (sitting here thinking about it) would be that if you're running a VM, somewhere the settings are incorrect within the VM ??? Aside that regardless of whether you're running a VM or a physical machine I would say start from square one and see what happens; start with a nice fresh clean install of Ubuntu server x64 (or your favorite 'flavor' of Linux) ;)
i got the error when extracting, maybe i will try to re-download again
Sadly this makes complaint #2, So I think I have a faulty upload on my end (I know the RAR itself is good I installed on my actual server from the RAR to make 100% sure)
Re-uploading immediately !

For those of you who want the new Genesis interface with my client here are replacement interfaces.pck and surfaces.pck.
The genesis interface wasn't initially included since I'm not a huge fan, but I decided to re-release these (fixed) for my client. This is basically a re-release of the already released genesis interface except it's all in English, and I have made several small fixes to the interface ;)
To use these simply delete the interfaces.pck and surfaces.pck and replace with these, you will then have the Genesis interface with my client...

can you upload genesis interface and SERVER side of your release to media fire?
coz it will be more good at mediafire than megaupload.
with mediafire, free user can download it more than one connection, but with megaupload, it won't allow it

notes on genesis interface re-release:
I didn't touch the 'friends' panel, but I did remove what needed to be removed in the squad (T) menu. I removed what our client/server doesn't support in the character (C) panel. I removed the wardrobe 'bag' portion icon from the main 'bag'/inventory (B) screen. I removed head gear, and a few other items we cannot use from 'try on'/'preview', and from 'view player info' when viewing info on other characters. I also touched up the boutique (O), and the quest log (Q)...

Megaupload = random download speed, waiting time between each download, 3 downloads max per day.
Unless you have a premium account but I don't think everyone here have a premium account on the terrible megaupload.

Ok, a lot to answer to here LOL:
in order:
@ Supra -- if by 'wedding zone' you're referring to the "perfect chapel" then, yes, my release even has a 'custom' chapel in which you actually get married INSIDE the chapel (I moved the match-maker to INSIDE the chapel, and bride and groom packs now give out 'wedding invitations' [which are required to enter the chapel])... As also stated that's probably the only real 'custom thing' in my client/sever... (and could be easily reversed if anyone felt the urge)
In addition my client/server also has the 'daily marriage quest' -- and all the NPCs & MOBs for it ;)
@ Rom -- I can look into something, M/U was all I have been used to using as I don't usually have necessity to host many (or large) files...
@ Supra -- Actually you don't even need to wait 45 seconds if you register for a 'free' account ;)
@ Rom -- I don't know about not having an account at all, but I do know I no longer have a premium account; so all I have is the 'free' account, there is no daily limit (like you say 3), however there is a size/time limit I noticed when downloading my own files to verify integrity; if you exceed whatever the 'limit' is/was then it makes you wait 60 minutes [that's what happened to me]
@ Supra -- That is correct, unless like I said above; there apparently IS a size/time ratio limit :??? I hit it myself trying to DL my own files to check their integrity, and it made me wait 60 minutes (still no biggie to me, when you have a lot going on especially)...

Ok, so I will start seeking options for multiple places to host these too...
But ofc, if anyone here wants to mirror them, or host them somewhere on their own, be my guest (These files are, of course, for the entire community) ;) :D

i will upload them to another host or a couple of them and give you the links to add to the first page :)
and wow you replied to alot.
ill also look into getting my FTP up and running on one of my servers for people to connect to and just copy them over to there computer although FTP can be VERY SLOW. so maybe not a good idea. maybe making a torrent and leaving it up till lots of ppl have downloaded and shared but could take time too lol.

Thanks. I'm also wondering if the initial faulty uploads were due to something on my behalf, or due to MegaUpload :??? :S

I'm gonna guess M/U, because I don't use them a whole lot; and don't really experience any other problems with my network communications ...

343, all of the download was fine, I downloaded it just because and I can say wow... you really went all out on everything
And Megaupload is fine, I used JDownloader (since it does some magic to automate the whole process and magically makes dl speed get pretty close to my line max)
i dont use megaupload ive had issues with it quite a while back so i use 4shared or 2shared or a about 4 other sites

That's the hard part; I've done soooo much over the past 2+ years that when asked "what does this contain" or "what sets it apart from the other releases", I really honestly cannot answer. I only know that I have done a LOT of work over the past 2+ years! Ranging from the small stuff like editing the graphics for all the loading screens and maps (to eliminate any 'official' PW 'branding') all the way up to adding all the NPCs and MOBs for 'wraiths ploy' and the daily marriage quest... The list just goes on and on and on ...
In all, I think I am really happy at least someone noticed =D ;)

Yea, the only reason I didn't do houses for those two towns/areas is because I didn't add any NPCs for them... So there's no officer to take you there :))
and yea, adminnotes.txt is a huge wealthy collection of knowledge -- all of which can be found (and or was copy/pasted from) here... But I figured would be nicer in a huge file of knowledge, then you also don't have to search the crap out of the boards here to find out how to do something :D
---------- Post added at 05:34 AM ---------- Previous post was at 05:26 AM ----------
... oh and you may notice:
The houses are actually two different maps, and here we go I'll reveal an 'easter-egg' for yall right now.
I don't remember where exactly it came from but I had a NPCGEN for house that had some monsters n shit in it, so I left that one (b05) with the monsters. You access it by walking INTO the 'house' behind the guild NPC in east archo... ;)
and the guild houses are actually a clone of b05 (in a folder named 'house' on the client and server) with a clean n clear NPCGEN
I figured I'd leave the monster one just as it was, but I figured for the actual 'land houses' if a guild wanted to go and chill in their 'house' you wouldn't want a bunch of monsters there now would ya LOL
so yea; there's a separation bewtween b05 and house, just walk into the 'house' behind the guild NPC in east arch and it will region trans you into the one with monsters ;)
---------- Post added at 05:39 AM ---------- Previous post was at 05:34 AM ----------

pretty sure it would work. as for the client end of 29000:name.com not sure if you could use 29000 again. and the client doesnt seem to detect any other ports just 29000 i discovered but i could be wrong

You just need to update it in serverlist.txt... you can run it on any port you want, and to run two 'different' servers on one physical machine, it'd be far easier to just use VM's... but just clone the entire /PWServer directory and then edit ALL of the config files to use different ports and make sure they all point to the right spots and it will work just fine...

I do use vmWare Fusion since I run it off my Mac. So I'll have to work on that as soon as I get this up and running. By the way, does anyone know why pwAdmin won't work on this distr.? Also I noticed that when I run the files even as root it gives the permission denied. I've tried it both on Ubuntu Desktop and Ubuntu Server.

Don't use the start.sh script... no idea why he included it...
add pwAdmin and Tomcat/Jetty somewhere to start it all properly...

The files you said are unnecessary in this release. It was designed for the old iweb and the old authd.

o.O
True, my start-up 'scripts' are a tad sloppy. Probably the only thing I never really fully 'cleaned up' since I initially started out with individual scripts to start individual processes... Then one day I just threw together one that started all the other ones, and gave all the separate ones a . prefix so they were 'hidden' upon a 'standard' ls command... There's nothing wrong with them though =\ they work just fine for me... System boots, log in, start.sh starts apache, mysql, and both tomcats =\ Since there are two instances of tomcat I don't know why you'd have to install another, or why the ones there wouldn't be working for anyone =\ I've installed this on several different VMwares, and a few separate physical machines with no hiccups...
---------- Post added at 05:23 AM ---------- Previous post was at 05:15 AM ----------
...Though I've always installed on 'clean' HDDs; it is as simple as:
1- Install Linux (& ia32-libs if running x64)
2- Copy all files from disc or ISO to /
3- Run /root/notes/setup.sh
4- /root/start.sh starts apache, MySQL, and both tomcats (-- so you can then start the actual PW server from pwAdmin...)
With the only files that need IP 'configuration':
/etc/hosts
/opt/lampp/htdocs/config.php
/opt/apache-tomcat-5.5.28/2/webapps/pwAdmin/addons/Maskgen/index.jsp

pwAdmin works just fine. It does NOT operate on port 8080 though, like many people may be used to, it operates on port 8443...
What exactly are you getting 'permission denied' for ??? "the files" isn't very descriptive... Also with this distribution you should not be altering any 'file permissions' you merely install linux, copy all files over, run setup.sh, and start.sh will start Apache, MySQL, and both tomcats... With the only 3 files that need IP 'configuration' being
/etc/hosts
/opt/lampp/htdocs/config.php
/opt/apache-tomcat-5.5.28/2/webapps/pwAdmin/addons/Maskgen/index.jsp

Start.sh and the files that it's scripted to run. They all give me "Permission Denied" even when running as root. When I alter them to be executable, they work, but then I have to mod the apache folder because the start.sh in the bin won't work. So once all of that is finally done, I can't even get to pwAdmin to start it. Plus when using the pwAdmin that I installed (Separately) it won't start the server.
Also with the picture I uploaded, I used chmod to change the permissions (777) then back to as you had it (644)

I actually did it quite a bit differently, used 10.10 64 bit install disc, let it do the tasksel install lamp ssh etc (you could have also said in your guide to use sudo tasksel install lamp and it'd magically set it all up)
Then after going through the server_root.iso I couldn't find a copy of pwAdmin anywhere (which I did happen to find after I installed on my own... you sneaky little hider...)
The only thing I really took off of your disk was /PWServer and the libs from /lib32 everything else I installed on my own so apt can make sure it stays up to date...
It does work just fine this way too, not how you intended probably, but it does work...

Well sure there are a million and one ways to do anything in the entire I.T. world (as you and I both know)... I just figured the more 'n00b' friendly I made it, the better, because then n00bs could get it to work; and obviously experienced people can do as they see fit ;)
Actually my entire goal was not 'hiding' pwAdmin, I did not 'hide' it "on purpose". If you notice I have two instances of tomcat, one for port 8080 so it can be open to the WAN for pages such as GetGold or GetItem or GuildIcon... pwAdmin is in /2/ which is the 2nd tomcat which operates on port :8443 (non SSH) so that server admins can leave port 8443 closed to the WAN, and therefore keep pwAdmin secure from any outside use at all...

How long are you waiting? I do know that after bidding ends, it doesn't instantly issue war times... I don't really know how long it takes, even 'roughly', but I do know it is NOT instant...

Best thing I could recommend is starting from literal square one, from installing Linux... I will be doing a short video (time lapsed 2x probably) to show how I set it up... Hopefully I can have that done and 'up' within the next couple days :)
