Hi all,
Is anybody out there that knows how to Make a PWServer on a Dedicated Windows Server ?? I have tried and tried but nothing will work and paying for a Dedicated Server when nothing works just sucks. I don't know anything about Ubuntu/Linux so I am stuck. :?::?::/::/::?::?:
Please if somebody can help me, I would appreciate it.

You do not have a choice in the matter ; it's Linux or the highway =\
~nods~ Yup, and linux isn't too hard to get, once you fool around with it a bit, plus being open source, there's a ton of white papers and forums that can steer ya right...
As far as running a dedicated server VIA Windows, best you could do is using a VServer on a Windows machine, which basically tears apart your resources quick.
If you hosting a small PW Server, where you don't plan to have a whole lot of players, then I suggest E-bay...
Get a cheap server, install Linux, and mess around with it. I did that for a test server I'm working on... I got a Dell 6450 Poweredge quad processor P3 Xeon with 4 gig ram and 4 - 36 Gig SCSI drives with a PERC 3/CD for 10 bucks! :wink:
vmware,vbox,colinux can run in windows so it's the best start for you
but i wont recommend any of these

I looked at the Guide to make a Server on Linux.. Dedicated server of course.. and I do not understand a thing about what I have to do.. Any of you willing to be kind to me and kinda help me out getting started on a Linux Dedicated server for my PW Server? .... :/: I would be over the moon lol
Wanna create a flyff pserver with me instead of PWServer? Cause flyff pserver is possible in Windows xD
I'm curious as to what sites you recommend for buying off refurbished/second-hand hardware. I've been looking around newegg, ebay and recently savemyserver. They offer a lot of cheap hardware but I'm a bit scared as I will only be colocating these. Speaking of coloc, I've seen the cheapest as 40USD (joes), any recommendations?Quote:

If you dont have the knowlodge about administrating a dedicated linux server DONT rent one ! First use vBox and try at home ! Running a server online where you dont exactly know what it is doing is a bad idea and will bring you in trouble for sure !Quote:
