Hey Guys,
Already know how to connect to my server, But i want to try to play my server on my little brother laptop. I already gave him all my files,Client(1871 No XTrap),Regedit file. and ldata.
Is seem like he keep getting Connection Failed.
I'm having problem portforwarding.
I already know i have to portforward 10009 10003 and 10007.
But any tutorials on how?
If his laptop is in on the same internet connection, then port forwarding may STOP him connection, but won't help.
PT only uses 1 port not 3. Which one depends on how you edited the server executable.
It's off-topic (routers are network maintenance, not server development) but strangely enough, yes, someone here did write a guide on forwarding ports to put PT on-line.
Of course, it's different for every router, firmware revision, and option ROM (possibly loaded by ISPs into your router) but the principal is always the same.
Yeah, is your bros laptop trying to connect over LAN connection (network cable connected to a hub) or are they on seperate internet connections.
If over LAN, no port forwarding needs to be used as you are essentially directly connected to server computer, I think you just need to disable your windows firewall. Also make sure (client side) you set your ptreg.rgx ip as the servers computers LAN ip (Local Area NEtwork) , not WAN ip (Wide Area Network).
Finally make sure in your servers hotuk.ini you open a new sub server ie
*GAME_SERVER Local 127.0.0.1 127.0.0.1 127.0.0.1
*GAME_SERVER LAN 192.168.0.5 192.168.0.5 192.168.0.5
So your computer (the server) will select the Local sub server.
And your brothers laptop would select the LAN Sub server.

Do WHAT!!! Okay, NT based Windows are *much* more secure than their Win9x comrades ever where, but do you really want to disable the entire firewall? (replace it with something more competent and easier to manage... if you are on XP or older... maybe, but unless you are behind a decent BSD gateway or Cisco router with full network ACLs, I don't think you want to just turn it off)Quote:
