Strategy Game Recommendations

Hi there,

I am looking for your recommendations of a good strategy game. I used to play Age of Mythology and that was by far the best game I have played for a long time.

I am looking for something similar to Age of Mythology where you can control armies and take territory and have battles. I have played Age of Empires, Shogun: Total War, Rise & Fall and they are all average, but are no comparison to Age of Mythology in my opinion.

I'm open to all suggestions! It doesn't have to be a brand new game.

Making your own base, creating different armies to counter different type of attack/ tactic your enemy gonna use.. The best thing I like to do is create giant arse army of ~500+ king tigers and go rape enemy side :|
Big map + hardest mod + 4 sides (you + 3 enemies) = days, DAYS of gameplay.

want a full strat-attack game? Starcraft that game ruled my world for more than one decade and still

Age of Mythology is the best RTS I have found so far. I don't like the Titan's expansion though as they destroyed lightning mode by making it Wonder Victory instead of conquest.

Rise of Nations
Rise of Natiosn was OK but AOM is still better. I found it to be very similar to lightning mode on AOM but because of this I found it quite hard to finish of opponents as they would just build a new town whenever I captured an existing one.

Warcraft 3
Warcraft 3 is different yet similar at the same time. It has more focus on the heroes than AOM. You need to have better resource management that AOM otherwise you run out quickly.

0AD - Free
0AD looks like it could be quite interesting when it is finished. I tried one of their earlier versions last year and it had a real age of empires feel to it. I haven't tried the latest version though.

MegaGlest - Free
MegaGlest is based on the opensource glest but has more content. There are 7 factions instead of the two glest had. I haven't played this game though so don't know how good it is.

Command & Conquer + Red Alert
You can try these series. I don't know too much about them as I haven't really played them. The originals were released for free though.

Also Rise and fall which you have played is also free for those that didn't know. I like the concept of this game but I want to be in third person mode for longer. Its very similar in a way to Spellforce but Spellforce was missing features that I wanted.
