Sony admits PSN 'account information was compromise' - NETWORKS
Sony has admitted that the hackers responsible for the company's current PlayStation Network woes have been able to access users' personal information, including address details and potentially credit card information.
In a statement published on the PlayStation Blog, the company has finally come clean about the extent of information stolen:
"We believe that an unauthorized person has obtained the following information that you provided: name, address (city, state/province, zip or postal code), country, email address, birthdate, PlayStation Network/Qriocity passwords and login, and handle/PSN online ID.
It is also possible that your profile data, including purchase history and billing address (city, state, zip), and your PlayStation Network/Qriocity password security answers may have been obtained. If you have authorized a sub-account for your dependent, the same data with respect to your dependent may have been obtained.
"While there is no evidence that credit card data was taken at this time, we cannot rule out the possibility. If you have provided your credit card data through PlayStation Network or Qriocity, to be on the safe side we are advising you that your credit card number (excluding security code) and expiration date may also have been obtained."
Speaking on their US blog, Sony said it has "a clear path to have PlayStation Network and Qriocity systems back online, and expect to restore some services within a week."
It is not known how many of PlayStation Network's 70+ million users have been affected, but the e-mail has been sent to all account holders.
"Please note that we are as upset as you are regarding this attack and are going to proceed aggressively to track down those that are responsible," Sony said.
Sony confirms PSN's credit card info "was encrypted" - MORE INFO
Quote:
Sony has revealed, via an update on its US blog, that it encrypted credit card data on its servers, and one again reiterated it has no evidence that any credit card information has been stolen by hackers.
The company did confirm that "personal" data - presumably things such as a user's e-mail, password, and billing address - was not encrypted, but was stored "behind a very sophisticated security system that was breached in a malicious attack."
Sony confirmed yesterday that hackers had been able to access personal information of over 77 million PlayStation Network users. This latest reveal follows increasing pressure on the company to divulge information about its security practices.
When PlayStation Network returns - supposedly within the next week - Sony will make password changes mandatory for all users. "We are working on a new system software update that will require all users to change their password once PlayStation Network is restored," says the company.
"We will provide more details about the new update shortly."
How will Sony ensure something like this never happens again? "Moving forward, we are initiating several measures that will significantly enhance all aspects of PlayStation Network’s security and your personal data, including moving our network infrastructure and data center to a new, more secure location, which is already underway."

There was no "hacking". Someone inside the company did this. They probably got fired already. Sony was using the previous Anonymous attacks as a cover up so they don't lose their opportunity at getting insurance. They claim it was a hack, but really, it was an inside job.

Proof or else STFU.
Late edit, but I just woke up: If you were speculating, please say that or at least remember to add "In my opinion" somewhere in your sentence. But then again, it looks like what you said does not apply to either of those.
So I'm still standing on "Proof or else STFU/GTFO".

Looks like it's fine.

Silly immature mod. You're ignorant. Google it.
Also look at the facts.
Anon OPS wasn't involved in any attack.
You can't hack information like that with a jailbroken PS3.
Or a PSP for that matter.
They used "hack" as a cover up so they can take their insurance.
Now sit down.

Oh dear.
Google only lead to people guessing stuff(like you are), nothing about that has been reported with proof on major sites or news networks. We won't know, unless we know more info or someone confess their doing.
Do you even know what Anon is? There is no organization in Anon, there is no groups or too many groups to count. So yeah a "Anon" could had done it.
Of course it can be done, and we don't know if it was a jailbroked ps3 or not, since no one knows how it was done, so that debate is invalid at this time. But I believe the hacking was still done on a Computer of course -_-;
And insurance? Sony isn't gonna gain money from this mess, they are losing money from this mess.

Spoiler:
You mean "What this guy was saying about me", not the other way round.
But you misunderstood something, he was telling me to google reports/proof that it was a inside job and not a external intrusion on the server.
The link you posted were of a different part of the topic/debate...
Which is why I was confused as to why you said those.
