A question about a prob with adapters
Thanks for taking a moment to read about my unusual situation....
I am using a wireless network card....I am also sharing this wireless connection on a lan hub (a linksys...I have no choice in this as my family's access depends on the shared connection)
I am unable to use the 192.168.2.1 / 192.168.2.2 setup from the videos.
Is there an alternative I can use to make the necessary connection? I have the DB working....and the necessary files. Only that shared connection is holding me up. (If I change the IP of the wireless card in any way...the rest of the family looses access.) Any ideas would be most appreciated.
Thank you.
Re: A question about a prob with adapters
Dude... u Dont Need To Use Those IP's u need to Use Your Own IP!!!
Players Need to Connect ON uR WAN IP---> IP Chicken - Whats my IP address? ip address lookup
Your MSSQL IP Is Your Windows IP/LAN Ip ----> cmd - ipconfig !
And Your Centos IP Should Be Same Like Ur LAN Ip But Change Last Number !
Example... ur LAN IP / Windows IP is 10.0.0.50 and your default gate is 10.0.0.143 Your Centos IP Should Be 10.0.0.51/52/53/54.. anything you choose...
hope i help if any more problems Post + USE SEARCH Fist !!
Re: A question about a prob with adapters
192.168.2.1 .. this is the gateway ip of the router you cant use it...
yes you can do a connection to make it work... you should know first the IP of router given to your pc and the IP of the vmware given to your centos machine.. later the WAN connection after you make the LAN works.

I dont know what is your actual setup of your network if im not mistaken at the attachment that was your setup...
If that was your setup.. it's easy to connect it without loosing connection with your family.. :)

I did use the search.....I found zero info about NOT using the preferred DNS as in the video (192.168.2.1 ) . I cannot change that as it kills the family's access if I do.

My connection is:
Wireless signal in
This is set to be shared via
A wired lan connection
Lan cable out to a lan hub through which the family connects
Because the lan out is set as the shared supply its IP becomes 192.168.0.1
My wireless now has default gateway as: 192.168.1.1 (This is what I cannot change ..If I do...it kills the shared connection to the lan hub). And in the video...it shows to put 192.168.2.1. Hope that explains a little better. If I didnt have the shared connection ...Im sure it would be much easier. :?:
