your veiws on animal cruelty after watching this
Watch this and tell your opinions. I for one think that this is terrible how we treat these animals even if there main purpose is our food supply. This right here is grounds for breeding super bugs and diseases of a new kind. That will screw up the US.

Re: your veiws on animal cruelty after watching this
it's just awful and disgusting .. i hate talking about animal cruelty
i think putting an animal in pain like hitting or mistreating it is just absolutely wrong, you want to kill it just do it quick, and make him not feel the pain. banging the poor thing's head on the floor or the carbon dioxide, is that necessary? there should be another quicker solution.
also, hitting it with a stick to move? cages smaller than the animal itself?

Re: your veiws on animal cruelty after watching this
yea i agree they should be kept in decent liveing conditions and killed humainly atleast. The people who do this everyday are very pathetic people they need to relize that animals have feelings too...

Re: your veiws on animal cruelty after watching this
I used to eat flesh, I even used to think eating flesh was good for my health. I never made the connection between eating a piece of meat and taking an animals life, usually an animal that has never known freedom.
If you eat any animal products then have the balls to watch the video to the end.

Re: your veiws on animal cruelty after watching this
Don't really care about animals being killed for the purpose of food, but when people kick dogs, throw rocks at birds and shit like that I get a tad upset.

I can't see myself turning into a vegetarian so I agree with you that I don't care they are being used for food. But you gotta admit that the manner in which they are treated is absolutely appalling. Like exclamatio said above, if you eat meat watch the whole video, and I'm not going to lie when I say I can't. Kicking dogs, throwing rocks at birds are acts of animal cruelty that we unfortunately have to live with. But the video didn't show that kind of animal cruelty. It showed torture. The only thing going through my head while I watched as much as I could of it was damn, we talk about Guantanamo Bay, but looking at this, almost every farm out there is an animal version of the prison.
They are all cost-cutting actions. In an attempt to save a few bucks, people lose all sense of sympathy. An animal needs suitable living space and it's going to cost me a couple of extra hundred? Na fuck it just toss it somewhere, make it suffer, and then be more inhumane in killing it. There are many ways to do this, and unfortunately the cost of the humane methods make them less popular so we are left with this bullshit.
There are always going to be carnivores. Lions eat other animals but you don't see videos of that popping up as cruelty because it is nature. What we have done is perverted what should be a natural process by making a mess of everything and adding misery, which is usually what happens to everything when humanity gets involved.

Thats the attitude that fuels it.

Re: your veiws on animal cruelty after watching this
Pretty wicked video; it really does make you think. I just don't know if I could commit myself to a full vegetarian diet. I would be all for paying a little more to know that the animal had a good life.

Re: your veiws on animal cruelty after watching this
Animal abuse. pure abuse, thats why i only eat free-ranged, no hormone added meats.
-
Re: your veiws on animal cruelty after watching this
People who blindly believe this are naive. People who actually believe in "free-range, no hormone added meat" are even more naive.
Most "animal abuse" footage used in these kinds of videos are either :
- taken completely out of context
- old and unreliable
- taken from developing 3rd world countries
- doctored
- completely false - the commentary is full of lies, and used simply to provoke a heated response
I watched the first 2 minutes and turned it off. Not because i was disgusted at what i was seeing, but because i was absolutely shocks by what i was hearing - MOST OF THE THINGS THEY ARE SAYING SIMPLY ARE NOT TRUE.

Give us some examples if your gonna call it lies. This is in the USA... And how would you know that there all lies? have u been inside any of these farms? I dont think so so you dont know what goes on at these places. The only reason we know about this is because of the spies that go and record the torture these animals endure.
-
Re: your veiws on animal cruelty after watching this
yeah id like to see evidence proving all that wrong too. Some might be you're right but not all.

Re: your veiws on animal cruelty after watching this
I like meat, steak, bacon, chicken, etc.
I know how my food is produced and where it comes from.
It's the way of life, vegetarians can kiss my ass.

Slaming piglets on the floor to kill them? stomping chickens? crowding them in cages to small for them? Thats all un needed torture thats the point of thme makeing this thread. I never said all, i said most.
For one thing, half of the footage in that video was taken before there even were any animal protection laws. That's like me using footage of 'Agent Orange' victims to compile an "anti biological warfare" video.
Spies? You honestly think that all of those people didn't know there was a camera in their face? That was exactly what i mentioned in my previous post - they simply take existing footage and cut and edit it for their own good. Additionally, PETA has been known to stage videos like these, just to get entire factories closed down. Hell, they've even blown up buildings in the name of animal protection.
Now like i said i only watched the first 2 minutes before i turned it off, but the commentary for castrating pigs was completely incorrect. They do not feel pain while it is being done. The entire reason they are squealing is because they are being held upside down, it is not because they are in pain. This goes for the clipping of the tails also, which is done for hygienic reasons - The pig feels a mosquito bite just for a second and that's it, which is why there wasn't any blood either. There simply aren't enough nerves in either the scrotum or tail to cause actual physical pain.
No i don't know what really goes on inside an abattoir. But with my fiance being a veterinarian nurse, i am very well aware that most things which they describe as "Excruciating ordeals", the animals in fact don't even notice it being done. The video producers know this, and they show people perfectly normal medical procedures in the hopes that people will in fact perceive it to be cruelty.
You honestly think that castrating a pig is cruel? Clearly you have never seen a human circumcision being done on a newborn baby. MILLIONS of babies have this done within 15 minutes of being born every single year, without anesthetic. Now where's the cruelty video for that?

I do believe this is old, It may be a lot better now but Male chicks are still being killed, and other animals, I have been in these farms and the UK Farms are really good compared to this, Personally if I was in charge of this industry I would make sure that cows have the freedom to roam fields and so on... Fucking stupid people, Who the hell has the ability to do this with out feeling sorry for them, Most likely some pathetic drugged up asshole, FUCKING IDIOTS!!!

Re: your veiws on animal cruelty after watching this
Yay. More out-dated vegetarian proper gander. It never ceases to amaze me how sheeple believe these videos. The whole video is probably made by a sub-division of a processed vegetarian food company.

Re: your veiws on animal cruelty after watching this
Watched the whole thing. Only thing that came to mind is "My food shits on your food".

I know this vid might be old but doesnt mean it's totally gone, it still happens in some country's. Hell alot of people growup with dogs/cats, even those still get threated badly.
@Surface: It's the way of life? Who decided that?
