Guide:

First of all, you have to make sure that your IP will be found on the internet. For that you should have the doors open on your firewalls. Due to the huge amount of routers out there, you are by yourself to deal with your own router's firewall. If you have difficults to deal with your router, read its manual or contact the technical support. I personally deactivated my router's firewall, because my windows already has one. Concerning the firewall of the windows, it will prompt to allow connection with every program. You should allow "ConnectServer", "GameServer" and "GameServerCS", keep rest blocked for securance.

Installing SQL:

Installing and configuring SQL 2005 by Ulfsark.avi - YouTube

Turning on the Server:

1) Create and restore a database nammed "MuOnline".
2) On the folder "\MuServer\Database", run an ODBC reg choosing the right one to your OS version.
3) Now you will edit the IP adresses and SQL passwords.

Change the current IP to your IP address at:

\MuServer\ConnectServer\Data\BoR_ServerList.dat (2 places)
\MuServer\Data\MapServerInfo.dat (2 places)

Change the "Pass" to your your SQL Password at:

\MuServer\EventServer\Data\svconfig.ini
\MuServer\ExDB\ExDB.ini
\MuServer\GameServer\Configs\SQL\SQL.dat
\MuServer\GameServerCS\Configs\SQL\SQL.dat
\MuServer\RankingServer\svconfig.ini

5) Run in order(if necessary, as administrator) "StartUp.exe" and click on the play Icon, "GameServer" and "GameServerCS".

Now your server is online. Test the ports 44405, 55901 and 55919 on Open Port Check Tool
You can also forward them manually.

Managing the Client:

1) Extract the Main you downloaded in the client directory.
2) Run the MainCracker.exe open the main.exe, edit the current IP with yours.
3) Change the current IP your IP address. Save the changes.

Now your client is ready. Run the Main.exe and test if your server is working properly, if you get disconnect or nothing happens when you try to connect read again all the process above and you may also find a solution by reading the pages of this thread.

I might release a main with anticheat when I get a good one but minimaps I don't think so.

If you will use the MuMaker this step is required, otherwise you will have problems to create acc.

Yes I did explained, it's one of the first things I said.

The server is pre configured for "hard servers" without reset.

The "Powered by RMST..." annoying messages I don't know how to remove, if you find out let me know. ;)

We cant read your mind, you should tell us what is the problem you have :)

Hey mate, thanks for the helpful guide, but I ran into a little problem.... everything works fine server side but when I connect to server using 4.6 client + main+pinkof anti cheat I can connect to server but after I select server and click on the selected server I get disconnected.

In my oppinion this could be because I wrote the wrong IP in main or because the serial / version is wrong, can you help please?

Thank you for ur fast reply, i have some problems, everyone of my server programs run nicely and all working probably, but when run main.exe, i got disconnected, i dont know why, i edited my ip correctly. i currently turned off the firewall of my router.

I've changed serial to 8gksYM30JnvgqpcP and version to 1.02.4 and the IP with my global ip..... stil having the same problem when i connect to server :| I can see server, i click on it and i get disconnected.

You are using the wrong client. By using 4.6 client you will experience many bugs. Even the 4.5 client from the original post isn't working as well. Download this one I posted on the thread and apply the main or main+pinkof anticheat(it's also a patch to correct some bugs).

Main and main+pinkof anticheat are correctly configured with the Serial and version. Download one of them again and follow the steps on "managing the client" to edit the IP's.

Hey ulfsark, thank you for your reply, much appreciated.

I've downloaded the client you posted + redownloaded main+pinkof anticheat and changed the IP on main using MainCracker, I left serial and version as it was because you said its allready configured.

Now I get the following problem:
I run main.exe game runs normally but I dont see the server anymore... I don't get disconnected either.


I've also edited the main using hex editor (I hate using it) and now I just get disconnected straight off. losing hope :(

You are not editing it right. Don't use maincracker to edit the IP.
Use only the hexeditor as I described on the guide. You must change the IP in two places in your the main. Check the picure below:

I have to rename the file then delete, otherwise it doesn't let me.

I don't know why you can't delete the main, maybe it was in use when you tried to delete.

I hexedited the main with your IP: Multiupload.com - upload your files to multiple file hosting sites!

Remember that your common.ini should be configured like this:

I think you're editing it in the hexadecimal window? You just need to edit it on the rightside window with decimal numbers and points. The blank spaces may be filled with spacebar and it will look automatically as 00 on the leftside window.
PS: Don't touch the hexadecimal window.

Ok, using the main you have given me I get the same result, Disconnect.

So the problem is not in main..... Firewall is turned off so it can't be that... I will check all common.ini.

Routers have firewall too, remember this.

Check for IP's on:
\MuServer\ConnectServer\Data\ServerList.dat (2 places)

When exactly are you getting disconnect?

yes i as was saying, everything works fine on server side (all programs run). But when i tried to run main.exe, i was disconnected "BEFORE" the the choose server screen(meaning i was disconnected right after the main loaded, i didnt ever get to see my server.)

yup wheres the gs and gs_cs? when you have these 2 running go to canyouseeme.org and look for port 44405

But im still unable to connect to server, (disconnected before seeing the server) probably because of my ports are being blocked? i use wireless router, i am using my laptop to connect. my router's firewall is off, do i still have to open my ports? if so what do i need to do? and which port do i need to open?

as i understand your server is in another computer and you try to connect with laptop?
no need to open any port for now
only thing you need to do is that you need to have another main for connecting in local net
you need to add there your server computer lan adress

Ok, I've downloaded everything from scratch, reconfigured it... and I have the same problem.

Server files work excelent, no problem there.... StartUP + GS + GS_CS.

I am using the main +pinkof antihack which you have made for me ulfsark and as soon as game finishes loading I get disconnected.

I just checked that website (canyouseeme.org) with port 44405 and it said connection timed out, does it mean my router is blocking that port?

If you made more changes than you needed on the server files, a bad configuration may make your gs.exe looks just white because it doesn't read the informations from all the files.

When it says the connection timed out it means they can't see your IP through this door because it's closed.

Nice.... after leaving the server online for about 40 mins... my wireless died on my laptop and it was not the router, I restarted laptop and now only internet explorer works chrome doesnt. Also the server start up doesn't work saying its not a valid win32 application, im gonna format my laptop again. I don't have anything installed other than the server so I can't test but if I'm right then theres a shit virus which atacks all .exe files making them unable to run. I've had this problem before also from other muserver files.


Thanks for ur help, I think you should scan properly these files just to make sure they don't have any hidden viruses atached. I wasn't using an antivirus or firewall while testing so can't say what made it like this.

Dude there's no viruses... Most of servers people have to disable the antivirus or it's impossible to config but this I run with antivirus and everything else open... files are clean. If the viruses detect any threat it's problem because some files are encrypted or packed but no one real danger to your pc.
Only you are having such a problem.

By the way, you said you use wireless... that answers why you can't connect on your server. ^^

Why couldn't I ?

Server + trying to connect was all done on same pc


Also forgot to mention my explorer doesn't start when I boot windows, I have to end task explorer and restart it manually...

GameServer and GameServerCS are packed, many antiviruses take it as virus.

Probably IPv4. ^^ open the "execute" and type cmd. Then type ipconfig and enter inside the DOS.

Anyway all you need is your global IP, not lan.

Using Lan IP your server will work only in your lan net, if you want other people to connect to your server you have to use global ip.

I think i know what i should do :), i add lan ip to my main so i can connect to server locally, but the main that i let other people download, i will put my global ip in there right? :D

You must edit the IP adresses only on the files I cited on the guide.
If you want it to be open for everyone, use WAN IP.
Using Lan IP only computers on your local network will be able to connect to your server.

Just follow the guide and it will work smoothly.

Thats the problem. If i change the ip in the two files listed in the first post to my local ip (192.168.x.x) and then hex the main.exe with the same ip i can only connect from local network. If i change the ip to my wan and hex my main to wan, i get DCed and if i try to connect to the server with wan IPs through
a main with local ip i can see the server but i still DC when click on the name....

If your Lan IP works and the WAN IP doesn't, that just mean one thing... Your ports are blocked.
If with local IP you get disconnect by clicking on the server it's probably wrong serial, make the log in and then check the gameserver.exe window, it will be written there if it's wrong serial.

Ports that need to be open are 44405 & 55901, right? Could the wan ip have to be entered anywhere else? I could swear it used to be more places where you edit the ip....or im just old lol

44405, 555901, 55919. Test them on Open Port Check Tool.

The IP edits will depend on the the files you're using. These ones just require in two places. The other IP's run smoothly locally(127.0.0.1).

44405 is the only tcp, rest are tcp&udp, right?

So i opened up all the ports and even turned on the dmz, just to be sure. Then changed the ips in ServerList.dat and MapServerInfo.dat to wan AND installed a loopback adapter. Checked the ports through that website you gave me, they showed as open. Still. Cant connect from outside... what else could it be?

Maybe you didn't edit it correctly.
And don't forget that it doesn't work via wireless, you pc has to be connected in the Lan Ports of the router.

My server pc is connected through wire... jeez this has always been a problem lol :(

Hello, Thank you very much ulfsark for this one, I managed to set it up correctly from the first time (ever) and all seems to be working, just only one thing. If I set my character as Grand Master(I do it from web(setting to Soul Master works)) I cant get into a map. I press connect on the character, but the game freezes on the map image and I have to end proccess of main.exe . While in all chars screen, I can see my character and its noted as Grand master. Got any idea how to fix it? Thanks :)

Use the MuMaker inside the utilities to create your character. When you choose the class, select the one with "jpn" protocol otherwise you can't log in the game.
And by the way, I have updated server files and patch a couple minutes ago, I recommend you to download it again.

Thought Im using SQL server 2008 the MuMaker isnt working :( Any other ideas? :)

I don't know how to change it manually, maybe you can find a MuMaker adapted to sql 2008 or just use the sql 2000 that works quite fine.

the developer says its adapted :( Im running win7 64-bit so I couldnt install SQL 2000. Anyways, maybe Ill find a soliution.

I run on win7 x64 and the sql 2000 works. You must go to "\x86\setup\setupsql.exe" and run it to install on x64 systems.

When i click Next of the first part this message comes up ...

Trying to setup SQL server 2000 (used your link) on my Win7 64xbit

Ok it might get installed, but I have another problem :/. Now when im in game the game closes without any message or anything after like 20s playing. I think somebody has already had that problem cuz i read about it somewhere :). Thanks for your fast replies.

Bigal - binginsin @ That problems with the installation happened for me too, just restart the pc and try again.

After you're using sql 2000 let me know if you still have issues.

Another question, in your guild you say to make database "MuOnline" but you didnt say about making the other two? Only need to make one New database called "MuOnline" or what about "Rankings" etc..?

EDIT: Binginsin - i had the problem that nothing laoded up to but i found a way to stop that, go to task Manager and find "dlhost*32.exe* or something like that and End process and it should work.

Inside the gameserver folder there's a text file nammed GMsystem, there you must edit the name you want to your gm char and put 1 to the commands you want him to use. By default the name of the GM is Admin, you may add as many as you want or just rename it.

This server uses only MuOnline database. The others are already inside it.

I mean fully developing it. I wasnt playing it for a long time, and running a server costs dam much of time. Cant make it lol. I already made website and webshop, but to develope everything to fully conditions to serve users-too hard for me now. I was just testing if I could do it. Maybe someone will need my help :)

If you read the shortcuts directory you will see that it's setted up to C:/MuServer/gameserver...
If you want to use it in a different directory you must create new shortcuts and add the parameters.

That means your account doesnt have access to joinserver.exe in proccesses, for example Task Manager shows you proccesses and the BoR cant acces them. You should try running it as admin if you havent done it yet. But the GameServer error is quite strange, because CashServer is on, maybe your ODBC connections are wrong.

its weird. yeah i've tried to run as admin too but no change :( i dont know what else could be the problem :S

I think the directoy may be wrong. Right click the joinserver on the BoR StartUp and search for the joinserver.exe.

And never run a server on wireless, you must connect your pc in one of the lan ports.

its listed in the correct place :/ still cant connect to Joinserver :/

I dont plan to run a server on wireless, just setup a server Offline on the wireless for now until i config everything.

Did you execute the ODBC Reg?
