Unable to connect to Patch Server

Ok maybe I am a total nub to this sect of the MMORPG scene, but for some reason I have installed and have running a pwi server on a collocated ubuntu box. My client launcher goes to connecting to server then updating and halts (closes window). I also noticed there are no *.xup files in my web servers patch directory. Possibly this could be the problem? versions.sw is there with the entry of null=1 or something similar. Any help would be much appreciated.

Maybe I could give more in site to problem. I downloaded the server / client / DEV tools / and genesis expansions from the first post of this topic. (Not sure if these are the up-to-date versions of this current release although I would think they would be.) I had no problems editing the files and inserting the corresponding ip addresses. I have all ports forwarded via my router so it should be accessible from the WAN. I have tried to connect via the LAN also but with no success. When I start elementclient.exe it tells me to use the Launcher.exe first. I have searched these forums for a setup guide to the pwi client with no success. Maybe I am searching improperly or something. I also tried Google for those who will point that out so blatantly. (Been there done that.) When I launch, Launcher.exe it says "Connecting to Update Server." and "Update ... " not sure the second window that flashes because it is very fast and closes itself. After that I am at a loss. I edited patcher.ini to point to my web directory "http://WANIP.com/patch/" and edited "PW_Client\PW_Client\PW_Client\element\userdata\server\serverlist.txt" to include my server's ip and default port. One thing i did notice is inside of my web server, the directory "patch" has 2 files. 1. index.php and 2. versions.sw. No where in the directory is an *.xup file which I am guessing is needed for updating clients. Any and all help would be appreciated. I know this must seem minuscule to everyone here, but I am new to the community. I have a vast knowledge base of networking and operating systems. I am a systems administrator for a local hospital running every os from Sun to iBSD. I can't believe I am stumped on something so simple. Once again any and all help would be appreciated!
