been over this a lot no laptop is made for gaming you are better off building your own >.> (dont by alienware they are over priced or over rated)
I knew some fucking wise ass like yourself was gonna come and post that but thats not what I fucking asked. I asked a simple question for fuck's sake!
I know no laptop will beat a desktop but there are laptops (asus rog, msi) out there that are "gaming" laptops. Deal with it.
Completely incorrect.
I own an Asus G73JH which is definitely a gaming laptop; It is designed to be a gaming replacement for a desktop. It has an 8-thread i7 with a 1GB Ati 5870 that performs better than its desktop counterpart.
As for Alienware - Their desktops are extremely expensive, but that's it. As far as their laptops are concerned, they are worth every $ if not more.
If you want the fastest gaming laptop without worrying about cost, get an Alienware. Their top-of-the-line range has a 2nd gen 17 with 32GB of RAM and 2x 6990's in crossfire. Not to mention their warranty is great and you'll be wanting it to last you a while.
I see that you can get 580m's in sli aswell but for a steep price increase from the 6990's but are they really better?
On a laptop, no. The performance increase isn't much at all when you consider the resolution and screen size.
Personally, my 5870m is smashing every game I'm playing on high-ultra settings, i don't even have a need for 2 of them let alone 2 6990's lol.
Not to mention i wouldn't welcome the extra heat from a 2nd GPU fitting inside that cramp laptop body.
32 Gb ram
who needs that?

58xx and 68xx series mobile cards can also be turned into FirePro series professional CAD graphics cards with a softmod, so for professionals in the media/rendering/cad industry who do require alot of RAM it's actually a very cheap alternative to the hardware they usually have to purchase.
Just remember, with those big arse gaming laptops, you will NEED a cooling pad/fan setup to put underneath it.. those things are literal ovens, you can't put them on your lap to game on, because they will literally burn you.
But, with money comes quality.. and while Alienware is stupid expensive, they do have some of the top spec'ed components. EXPENSIVE though, eesh.. just find a site with a 'build your own' checklist and see what you can build for yourself!
>Gaming Laptop. No.
I don't see the purpose, at all. If you wanna lug around a huge laptop to play games else where that's just, your choice but I see no point in it when a good gaming rig is cheaper and will preform better.
and sorry i was talking about the desktops not the laptops of alienwares and it depends honestly I have not found a single laptop I have liked for gaming I have found no point in the thing thats why i said what I said
If you're a gamer who travels alot then carrying a desktop everywhere just isn't viable. Price isn't everything, a desktop isn't automatically better in every situation just because it's cheaper and faster. Sometimes portability and convenience has to take top priority.
Like i also said in my above post, the high-end mobile Ati cards can also be softmodded into a FirePro professional graphics card, so it's very convenient and cheap for media/CAD people to use for work & take their work home with them.
I too bought my own gaming laptop for that, gaming.. a big 18.3" screen on it, runs all games jsut fine, and I have ultimate portability with it!
When I go to a lan party, I just throw my laptop, mouse, and pad into my backpack and scoot over there - with my desktop, carrying around a big 27.5" screen as well as all the keyboard, case, mice, speakers/headphones.. yeah, its not portable, by any means.
Ain't 6990 a dual core GPU ?
i don't know, but it is available in crossfire. so that would kinda make it quadfire? :p
Asus make some good gaming laptop, also try Ibuypower.com!! They have high end gaming laptops too, and they're also cheap!!
IF you have some spare money, I'd say go buy an Alienware M14x:
- Intel® Core™ i7 Prozessor 2630QM (2,0Ghz, 6MB, 4C)
- 1.5GB NVIDIA® GeForce® GT555M
- 4.096 MB Dual-Channel DDR3 SDRAM 1.600 MHz [2 x 2.048MB]
- 500-GB-Serial ATA-HDD (7.200 1/min)
Swap the 2x 2GB RAM sticks for 2x 4GB (or 2x 8GB), and the HD for an SSD drive.
It comes with a certificate that legitimates you to bitchslap macfags.
While playing EVERY game in existence, at full resolution and details, concurrently.
I recently bought one for a costumer and took the liberty to test it. It pwns the living crap out of my dual i7, GF GTX470 tower.
Thanks for that :p
Received it, and I must say it's awesome. Plays most games on Ultra settings with ease, awesome device.
Got it.. you've purchased and received. As for others in the market you can check out CPU - July '11 (Pages: 64-75).
FYI CPU has free digital editions.
Dual core, yes, but the way he speaks about it, leans more toward dual socket.
If he can't tell the difference between dual cpu and dual cores, he shouldn't be commenting in this section, afterall, it's a tech zone.
Dual CPU motherboards exists. Look at Evga's X58 SR2 for instance.
Try Alienware laptops, they are top of the line Gaming.
ASUS G73j is a cool gaming laptop :D, dunno if it can be considered as best in the world. But it is the best laptop available in our country
Well that's not what your post insinuated. You seemed absolutely sure that someone couldn't possibly have 2x i7's in their PC.
Also, a "server grade" motherboard can support as many CPU's as the OS could possibly allow, which if I'm not mistaken is 64 physical processors for Win Server x64 Datacenter.
