Your best bet is newegg, they sell OEM copies for dirt cheap. $100 for $220+ OS isn't a bad deal. Or do what is normal these days and pirate it.
Or, head on over to Fedora Project Homepage and pickup a free reliable OS ;)
If you don't mind missing out on games, get something like ubuntu/fedora/etc
Yes or that :thumbup: But I think he probably needs a Windows OS. Hard to do programming etc on Linux when you program for Windows, and other such things.
@Warrior
If you want to try a pirate copy send me a PM I can help you with 100% legit (illegal) copy of any OS you wish.

I heard the pirated versions kind of suck, since you can't do any of the windows updates >.>, so my best bet is to get it from newegg??
Wrong, you can update Windows 7 even past the SP1 point. Also my images are straight from Microsoft. Updates are horrible for home users they tweek the shit out of your OS to apply very basic security patchs not even needed for home users. Also drivers are written by Microsoft its better to download the official drivers from the proper manufacture you will see performance increases tenfold. But to sum it all up, my Windows 7 is no different then you going out and blowing $100 on it. $100 is an easy +8GB of ram upgrade. Only reason I wouldn't use pirate is if your using the machine for work/college type situations. If its a home pc you do your random shit on then why pay for it. I'm sure 7/10 people on RageZone uses pirated Windows 7 :closedeyes:

Yeah, Newegg is the best to go. And I am sure you do not want to go to Ebay. Which would just be a waste of your money.
College might find out xD but anyways if you where using pirated version of windows 7 where would you get the comp from to use it on?
A dorm machine it might be fine on, I was referring to in class machines where you bring the machine inside the classroom on a daily basis (some colleges use laptops for every class). But if you and a roommate are the only ones with access to it, then it should be fine. No one will be able to tell the difference anyways.
Well right now I'm using a Dell Desktop, but I just ordered all of my parts for my gaming rig, all except an OS (I couldn't find a cheap website) but apparently it seems I don't need to buy one now.......
Hmmmmm best website?
:o! I know, here: Download music, movies, games, software! The Pirate Bay - The world's most resilient BitTorrent site
:/
If you are still in school/ college/ university then check their website, they are likely to have some deals for students.
Also if you are willing to give up windows (which you should), go grab Ubuntu (considering that you never used almighty Linux before).
Ubuntu is beautiful, stable, secure and easy to use for people switching form windows.
If you do "arrgg" a copy of 7. I would suggest following the MSDN hashs. You can find untouched copies of Windows on the web. I have every Windows ever made 100% untouched. You can navigate to the MSDN download section where it will give you the SHA1 fingerprints of every ISO. After that you can download Daz's Loader, which is the best Windows 7/Vista loader that exists. All it does is inject a slic before Windows boots, fooling it into thinking its activated.
