Gaming night
I'm posting this here as it is more a community thing then a gaming thing.
As some of you know, quite a few people here are interested in gaming with other RZ members, obviously this is possible, but we don't really a have a good way to really get a decent group of people together and play games.
The reason why this is is because it's hard to play games together when life is just going on.
So that's why we need a gaming night, just have one evening of gaming to just get together and have some fun.
I talked with the guys here are the RaPEPARTY and they are all up for it and hopefully so are many of you!
The type of games played would be things that are either free to play, can be played in 'other' ways or really cheap games on which the majority would agree to buy. Obviously not everyone can afford lots of games and the goal is to play together.
Examples of games that would be played are TF2 and LoL, both are high quality free games and allows a nice group to play together. Obviously more games are wanted.
Communicating would go through voice chat, what program would be used is something that just works best.
The reason for voicechat is because it just makes it much more personal, there are lots and lots of great players around here, but it's just so much more fun to talk with the people you're playing with which makes it so much better (otherwise you're just playing with nametags that you know).
This is basically the idea. It's nothing special, but if we get enough people then we all get a fun night out of it.
All feedback is obviously welcome. I'm just putting the idea out there and I hope there is plenty of interest in doing this.

Re: Gaming night
I obviously need permission from the high council before committing into anything, but if we have HoN players (it's free now btw, just with a limited hero pool) I'd be up for games every now on then since I pretty much play a game every day anyway.

Re: Gaming night
It sounds like a very nice fun night, I'm all up for it
as for voice communication; I recommend using skype >:

Re: Gaming night
Sounds good. I know quite a lot of people on here that play LoL.
As for voice communication, either ventrilo or teamspeak to be honest. Skype is nice but with ts/vent you can just hop on at any given time to see who's on. And you can make different channels for each game or group.

Re: Gaming night
my brother is a hardcore LoL player but i really dislike the game.
TF2 would be awesome, though

Re: Gaming night
Not really into PC gaming, that's why I posted this thread.

If you're all up for it, I'd be more than happy to host console gaming lobbies.

Re: Gaming night
Definitely a good idea there Tyler.
Obviously not everyone has the greatest PC, this is also why the idea is to keep the games fairly light. I can actually play TF2 pretty well (medium settings) on my 12 inch Netbook (Dual Atom 1.6 Nvidia ION - Geforce 9400m), so games like that should work fine on most computers.
Of course I can appreciate the preference for consoles, but like I said, it's for fun really, you don't have the be the best player and all that. On top of that, TF2 is perfect in that as well since you can get kills even if you are new to the game and never play shooters on the PC, simply because of all the different classes, you will be weak against some, but really strong against others. Kills are guaranteed.
There are lots of other games as well and hopefully we could get a nice amount of games that can be played by everyone, in price, system requirement and easy to play.
As for voice chat. I really like Skype for the quality and being able to call people, but it is annoying that you can't just join in. With smaller groups it's fine, only a few people to add etc, but with large groups you need loads of contacts and all.
I guess it depends on how busy it would be.
As for LoL vs HoN, I'm personally up for either, I haven't played either yet, but I know they are both quality games.

OMG you guys having a RaPEPARTY? ;o Im definatly comming next year lol.

Re: Gaming night
Xbox has parties and chat, so it's a bonus there! But there is a maximum of 8 per party.
Not so much a competitive gaming team, but a team nonetheless. Something that unites the Xbox FPS gamers of RaGEZONE!
Also RaGEPARTY is 18+.

Re: Gaming night
Yeah on top of that you will need to fly, this one is in Glossop (Manchester area) and the next one will probably be in Edinburgh.
@Tyler anything that increases the fun is good. PC has the advantage that everyone has one, most of them can run games like TF2, it's free and can offer a lot of room in games so that lots can join in.

Someone brought up the idea of LAN parties in MentaL's Lair a while back. Self-explanatory really, but they sound really fun! :P:
