Section Crackdown

In my opinion, this section has turned away from everything it's supposed to be.
It's not a development section anymore, it's a "COME HERE FOR FLYFF FILES AND SETUP" section.
The help section is not nearly related to development, all is just stupid questions about how to setup by people not doing any kind of development.

If anyone wants this section to become what it has potential to be, I suggest that you instate zero-tolerance on this kind of stuff.
Help section should be development related, Release section should have REAL releases that adds to the game and not re-releases, etc.

It's sad looking back to the caali days, 3 different emulators where developed and caali's files where thriving and destroyed.
Then everyone just had it I guess.

I blame poor management of the section. *cough*modsdosomethingpls*cough*

This is very relevant to the section and if you want to delete the thread, give me a perfectly good reason why.

I kinda disagree.. This section was much worse and only now I'm seeing some light to it.

Progress comes with time, you can't expect people to miraculously start knowing things and this section to become a GunZ or MU or even a MS section.

With new tutorials such as that spoonfed "how-to-compile" source guide and the one I'm making that I'll probably release (on source fundamentals) we might see some changes instead of the usual "SIR Y MY SAUCE NO COMPILE?? HELP SIR I PAY 20 PHP!!".

Also I don't see you doing anything to change it, I changed my mindset from "this section is shit, I won't contribute" to "this section is not ideal, lets do something to change it" and I highly suggest you do the same, instead of just doing like me before creating topics to complain that do not actually help in anything.

Release section is full of already released shits.

Then MAKE some "real" releases, instead of just waiting for them to fall from the sky. I don't know about you blur, but I know spiken is completely capable of it.

The "real releases" is like when i code something and i decide to share it in public. not when i go to another forum or another section, Copy and paste in a new Topic like everyone does.

To be honest I have lost my faith in Open Source development mainly because of this section some while ago. The reason I'm making the guide is because I wanna see if there is any shed of hope to the concept of "community" left. If there's not I shall just quit.

But what I'm tired of is oldfarts complaining about stuff when the main releases (source developments, tutorials, etc) are done by unknown/new people or copypasted from other forums.

I'm tired of that attitude from others and I'm tired of that attitude from myself, thats why I'm doing something to change it.

And blur, don't complain about releases when looking at your posts all I see is help threads, it just makes you a leeching kid.

it is a place where people can get a free server files and support.

most of them don't want to GIVE, but them want to GET.

I kinda agree with both of you spikenbror and .dark.

We have had a shit community, but it is starting to change and as .dark says we can see some lights. The development section is active, the release section is active and the help section is active. Even though the help sections has a lot stupid questions, that we already said countless of times. They ask for help to learn, one day the might be as good as you. Who knows, and It basically all depends on how we help them and how we contribute to this community to gain a better knowledge and understanding of the files we're dealing with.

If we choose not to share the knowledge we have, how are the new ones suppose to learn. It's important that they get helped when they ask for it, no matter what question. And it's true, we got a lot of releases that are worth crap but releases are releases and should be accepted and supported. Cause they might come in handy for some of us. Beside, the release section is getting better and so is the development section.

Our "rank" regarding the knowledge the community has is low, as there are just a few making some real effort getting to know the files and the source. And those that actually know them really well, refuses to share the knowledge until the section gets better. At least that's what I've heard countless of times. We're getting better, and we will be better but it might take some time. I'm willing to contribute now, and I already have a few projects that hopefully will be done for release next month.

If those that are capable of releasing some good things releases it, It will encourage others to do the same. We'll just have to work together on our main goal. Getting more knowledge to our section, and I can see some improvement of the last couple of months.

A zero tolerance crackdown is unnecessary. The other sections are doing what we do. a handful of them have active development and the rest are just releases, repacks, and add-ons like Habbo, or Maplestory. Active dev sections like WoW and a few others are what you want this place to be but its not and will not.

spiken you have the right idea and I agree 110% with you on paper. You have to realize people would rather come here than Elite or InGamer, etc because our section is well organized and easy to find. sure they leech but why should we care.

You are doing a tutorial for web design and thats great. There are a lot of fledgling web designers who need that so do it for them, not the leechers.

This place is STARTING to come around and if more people pitch in and start adding things, even small things, it would get other people to do the same.

I think what a zero tolerance should be used on is the help section. All too often I see people getting ridiculed over the dumbest things and maybe the question was answered already, but instead of pointing them in the direction, they get ragged on. Start there.

dark and blur, you need to settle down. That shit solves nothing and I should know. Asking for help is not a crime and doesn't mean you are an auto-leecher unless that person doesn't learn from it.

I released the code for a register system gui, also helping Matty develop his Management System.

Re-release or not, the traffic pays the bills. And of course that's what EVERYTHING is about isn't it ? :P

Anyway i like the new sections, /f456/ already looks better

I agree on it and have been thinking about it a lot, especially what to do with the help section.
Although I'm not entirely sure on the release section suggestions. All releases should be welcome, but only to a certain degree.
