Truly an amazing story. If you're not gonna watch the whole thing, at least watch the first 6 minutes.

Watched the whole thing and it was rather fucked up but this guy truely inspiries me.

One thing I didn't quite get is why the kid shoot him? He had a .... what?

He shot him for his gang initiation.

He is very lucky to survive something like that.

But real shit, this happens on a daily basis. Even where I live, I live in one of the poorest parts of Toronto (biggest city in Canada), and this happens regularly, even with girls recently...

So many of my friends been shot, stabbed, lost a lung, been in coma, paralyzed hand, etc. they all had the same chances of dying as the guy in the video

And that is why kids.... don't join gangs.
And I hate to hear that his friend will spend only 35 years in prison. srlsy 35 years in prison, he should have been charged for lifetime.

This is an amazing story. The thing that got me the most was that he had known that friend for ten years and that friend still chose to kill Ross for gang initiation.

choose your friends wisely, this is rather fucked up, but gangs are retarded in the first place, they do nothing to help people, i would say send him to jail for life but if he even lasts 35 years he would be lucky, a lil punk gang banger in prison so early, thinks he is tough will be hard to survive

Damn fuck that kid is a piece of miracle.

Just finished watching it and i must say it is an amazing story. People who don't appreciate life should view this and hope they view it as an eye opener.

Sad part is that a friend who he knew for 10 years prior decided to try and kill him just to join a gang. He has 35 years to reflect on that.

It's a really a shame that someone who he thought as one of his best friends turned out to be the cause of his death. Yeah, he was only dead for a few seconds but that 'friend' was still a murderer. I'd never dream of taking my friend near the woods and shooting him, almost to the brink of death.

What I find good about this is that the justice system worked in this case, and in the UK they never end up staying their full sentence. One of my old friends was stabbed to death back in 2009, his murderer got took in and sentenced to 20 years in jail, he served 3 years and he's out already. I think it's a disgrace.

What I like about this story is how he doesn't try to over glorify what happened to him or feels all sorry for himself, he just tells us the story and what it did to him. And that's it.

Really a shame that he had to go through that. People around here always get pissed when other people say "Omfg, don't got Detroit, you'll get shot", making "jokes", that shit is true man. There's certain parts to go and certain parts you shouldn't go too.

He lives/grew up in the same county as me, but again, truly a sad story, I'm glad the doctors fought for his live.
