My New Car

A guy was asking $800 for this on Craigslist. I drove down to see it, and asked if that was the minimum. He lowered it to $650 for me.

Basically, it needs one new door (one of the ones you can't see is rusted to shit) that will cost me $30. It needs two new door panels which will cost me $12 for both, it needs one new rear tail light strip (there's like 3 tail lights on each side, one is broken), won't cost me more than $20.

It also stalled, and won't start. My dad's extremely good with cars, and says it will cost between $100-200 to fix the problem (it started at first when we bought it, we got it home, and now it won't start).

That's roughly $910 into this car, not including insurance, registration, and inspection (none of those will be much though).

What do you think of it? Did I get a good deal?

Oh, and it's a 2001 Dodge Stratus with only 90,000 miles on it.

90,000 miles for $650? Bargain! Providing there's no other hidden repair work needing done that the seller's not telling you about then that's a pretty good deal you got there.

Hell yeah it's a good deal, Even if you spend $1000 on it, it still be a good deal.

I scratch one door bmw charges me 6 grand to replace it.

I'm going to a "you pull it" thing. Basically a junk yard with cars in great condition that you take parts from. They've already said that they have the parts that I'm looking for, for those prices above.

Sounds like you got a pretty good deal! That's line £400 right? Plus even if you paid $800 I think it would still be a good deal ^^

Hopefully there wont be some underlaying shit like my mate.
(who is a retard) he bought a car without test driving it or anything, and all the suspention needs replacing, then steering column needs replacing, that is around £500 and then the insurance!
So he bought this car and now its just sitting out the back rusting even more away.

Yeah, you got a pretty good deal there actually. At least the parts are cheap for you mate, that's all that matters. With the car, you got it for a pretty good price.

hows the brakes sound? did he do maintenance? when you first start it did it sound good? did you test drive it?

650 for a 2001 sounds way to cheep to me. maybe he sold it cheep to get the problem off his hands.

Now if only I could find a similar deal as this one. Good find man $650 is pretty cheap.
