David Cameron unveils deal with big four providers based on charity's proposals to protect children from sexual content

Subscribers to four of the UK's biggest internet service providers will have to "opt in" if they want to view sexually explicit websites, as part of government-sponsored curbs on online pornography.
The measures will be unveiled on Tuesday as David Cameron hosts No 10 meeting with the Mothers' Union, which earlier this year produced a raft of proposals to shield children from sexualised imagery.
The prime minister is expected to announce other moves in line with the Christian charity's review, such as restrictions on aggressive advertising campaigns and certain types of images on billboards.
There will also be a website, Parentport, which parents can use to complain about television programmes, advertisements, products or services which they believe are inappropriate for children.
The site, which will direct complaints to the regulator dealing with that specific area of concern, is expected to be run by watchdogs including the Advertising Standards Authority, BBC Trust, British Board of Film Classification, Ofcom, Press Complaints Commission, Video Standards Council and Pan European Game Information.
The service providers involved are BT, Sky, TalkTalk and Virgin. Customers who do not opt in to adult content will be unableto access pornographic websites.
Cameron gave strong backing in June to the Mothers' Union proposals after he commissioned a six-month review by the charity's chief executive, Reg Bailey. However, Cameron did not commit to legislation.
Bailey's recommendations included providing parents with one single website to make it easier to complain about any programme, advert, product or service, putting age restrictions on music videos and ensuring retailers offer age-appropriate clothes for children.
Cameron wrote to Bailey in June to thank him for his report. "I very much agree with the central approach you set out," the letter said.
"As you say, we should not try and wrap children up in cotton wool or simply throw our hands up and accept the world as it is. Instead, we should look to put 'the brakes on an unthinking drift towards ever-greater commercialisation and sexualisation'."
Bailey's report asked for government and business to work together on initiatives such as ending the sale of inappropriately "sexy" clothing for young children, for example underwired bras and T-shirts with suggestive slogans.
However, he recommended that if retailers do not make progress on the issue they should be forced to make the changes in 18 months.

Memory wanks all the way then from now on.
Re: Pornography to be blocked by UK ISPs
Thats just crap!! If parents don't want their children looking at porn then put a parental lock on the internet, i know my mother did it with my brother years ago when we first had the internet and whenever he wanted to view certain sites an email got sent to my mother give him access or not! This sucks big donkey dick!!
They have been on about as well, banning smoking / drinking on the soaps in the UK, apparently the youths of today are influenced by it which is causing the problem of underage smoking and drinking...JEEZ they need to get in the real world, the youths of today are going to smoke drink and have sex, if they see it on tv or not! They don't look up to actors/singers nowadays like they used to 10 years ago! They do it from peer pressure, from family doing it, i have seen 11 year olds drinking/smoking and talking about their sexual experiences, do you really think they watch Eastenders and think 'wow, they all look so cool in the Queen Vic, i want to be like them' er NO!
Sorry for my rant but this country is a joke!!
Re: Pornography to be blocked by UK ISPs
Well me and Fluxy are on o2/bethere so it's not really a problem for us plus I hack no shame in calling up and asking to unlock my wank material. I do find it stupid and unnecessary but it least its better than a China like firewall.
This does kind of defeat the entire tripple x domain name for pornographic websites too given they could just filter that instead.
Re: Pornography to be blocked by UK ISPs
Why does the government try to get into everything we do? If a parent does not want their child to watch porn then add a protective lock on the internet, it's very basic.
Government is made up of old school idiots who know nothing but to think of themselves.
Re: Pornography to be blocked by UK ISPs
If ever this happens to our country atleast I got an alternative option which is Hentai.

Re: Pornography to be blocked by UK ISPs
Blame Can... wait... Blame England... they are the tards who voted him into office.
The problem with England is that they have absolutely no clue at all how to deal with people. There is a reason why England has high teenage pregnancies etc, their whole view of how to deal with these kids is just wrong. On top of that, there is no place where you see so many girls dressed like whores.

Seriously dude... this should not be a alternative. Really it shouldn't.
And don't even think about arguing this... You really should not want to argue something like that.
Re: Pornography to be blocked by UK ISPs
LOL, if they bring this in, hello millions of hours of porn downloaded before hand.
Re: Pornography to be blocked by UK ISPs
Lmao, porn on the black market is going to become a lucrative business!
Re: Pornography to be blocked by UK ISPs
Lucky to live in France for now. Unli bandwidth (well not for long..) and pornography isn't .. Surveyed.

Especially not with Gohan.
@Ontopic
I really think censur is wrong, I am against it at all points. If they don't want certain groups of people to watch it, then they should figure out how to prevent them from viewing it. They should not be the ones judging if you should watch porn or not, that is your own decision. You pay for the internet, as well as you would pay for a porno film in a moviestore, but I don't see those getting banned?
Re: Pornography to be blocked by UK ISPs
Well now that thats sorted, maybe they can finally get around to stopping underage drinking? DONT MAKE ME LAUGH!!!
What the hell is this? The government are SERIOUSLY considering putting a ban and some stupid regulation on watching porn on the net? SERIOUSLY!? Coz obviously there isnt anything else thats worth the governments time. I fail to see what the problem is when porn. It DOESNT HARM ANYONE.
"It harms children" Em. Trippin ballz much? Its the parents responsibility to make sure, if they arent comfortible watching it, to stop the kids from watching things like this - not that its gonna harm them. Sure they may get the wrong idea of how sex works, but dammit we arent stupid! We know how it works! Porn can give couples idea --- WITHIN REASON -- and its just a normal thing that teenagers go through, and even adults. ITS NOT SOMETHING WORTH SPENDING TIME AND MONEY ON TO FIX WHEN THERES NO PROBLEMS WITH IT!!!!
Honestly, I tthink the government are just fed up with trying to fight the battle with underage drinking, smoking and preganancy....not that they have done much to fight it i mean.......yeh.......if anything, weve just been screwed over since our saint and savour Cameron came to control...JUST SAYIN!!!
¬_¬ I mean c'mon, i watch it everyonce in a while and you dont see me out fucking everyone and thinking that sex is all about exposure to others over the net or anything like that!!! God Dammit. ITS SO STUPID!!!
Fuckin hell, parents complain about something, they themselves have probably watched or read when younger but NOO WE THE NEW YOUNGER GENERATION cant experience it because its "Dirty, Crude and just plain degrading". Then i suppose sex is generally degrading too? Honestly, porn is just sex, video taped and people watch it to get aroused. Thats its purpose, thats all its does. Its not like we gain a cancer or poison our kidneys by watching it....
Re: Pornography to be blocked by UK ISPs
Umm well, there will still be ways to get around this, torrents, p2p, etc, they can't filter everything you send/receive.
Reminds me of the whole pron word thing lol.
Re: Pornography to be blocked by UK ISPs
Don't watch pornography anyway, no big deal, btw theres always VPN or proxys, or even a VPS, but I'm kind of not happy that they are yet restricting us access to some sites, Anonymous attacks on UK Government (Can see it happening)? or are they to scared to mess with a government.
