RaGEZONE Browser 1.1 Alpha

Description

1. RaGEZONE Browser is a straight forward browser for RaGEZONE. It loads RZ on boot up and you can do various tasks with the click of the menu button. It runs off of the mobile style of RaGEZONE and the Android Browser handles the login/register actions. This application is not made to compete with tapatalk but more of a free alternative for people who usually just use their phone's browser and want something faster with more productivity.

Once I get more familiar with java and Android development I won't be using so much of the mobile version of RaGEZONE as of my own take on it.

i like it, you should put it on android market

I don't want to pay that $25.00 fee to broadcast my free work.

It's a one time fee that I don't have at the moment anyways.

I love it, is there any chance you can make one for Symbian S60 aswell? I can never get mobile theme on my N97 so it is impossible for me to get on forums without using all my data =[

I'm not sure I believe those applications are made in c++ which I have no experience in.

that's just the regular mobile theme, adding shortcut to ragezone would do the same job

Currently the main purpose of this application is to help you do things faster (on your phone) with RaGEZONE. I do know that people can do all of the stuff on a regular browser. I do plan on it being something like tapatalk has achieved.

That's impossible, tapatalk can do what it does because it's installed to the forum, so its got access to the db.

Also it doesn't help you do anything faster as it mostly requires two button presses as well.

It's useless, sorry.

That is your opinion and I respect it.

id still rather use something thats free, and i have no problem using my browser to access RZ, if Tapatalk was free then ok, but its not

you get what you pay for, but to me it seems pointless

You guys are pointing out the obvious, but remember this is an Alpha build.. :/

I do get what you're saying. The fact that I can only rely on the browser(no database access) is one reason why it's minimal. Most of the time while I was writing this I was studying on how I can check if a session/cookie was set for when they logged in, realizing towards then end that would need some sort of database access.

I would never trust using an unknown 3rd party program to login to RZ. For account security I'm pretty sure Dan wouldn't recommend people do it either.

Well, as many people noted out, this is ran upon the default android browser.. If people aren't comfortable logging in through that then this isn't the application for them..

Edit: Nonetheless if Dan didn't trust the application I would be more than fine with showing him the source.

I'm just saying, people should be cautious. Blindly logging into various miscellaneous applications is half of the reason why there are so many account hijackings these days.

I don't understand why you're still campaigning in the thread.. You've already noted that you can just use the browser so I will just classify my application(as of now) as a productivity application. It does all the tasks(opening browser, bookmarking, traveling to the site, all of my quick tasks) in one application. Your past posts have been repetitive and if you're going to keep posting the same thing that can be summed up to 'useless' I would ask you to stop.

Did you use the Android SDK, or Google's app builder?
Anyway, it's a nice concept, but it needs work

I've been working on some new features, e.g Quick Forum Traveling.. You pick the forum name from a list and easily got here without having to go through a bunch of sub forums.

I see it being useful only if you add a "Favorite Sections" menu.

Other than that I will admit it is pretty useless right now but you posted it here knowing that. I myself use tapatalk and probably always will, but I will consider using this to support bug reporting / feature suggestions if you add a favorites menu.

I don't mean to 'bump' but I've decided to continue my career as an android developer and buy a market license..

One huge downside to this browser, it's unavailable for < 2.3.7

Seeing how ppl still use Android phones runnin v1.6 that'd be a huge loss of user base.

Plus the fact that most 2.3 phones are high(er) end ones and that two button clicks are almost as fast/efficient as launching one app, if not faster/more efficient.

Hmm, wierd I developed it and tested it on my 2.3.4 phone so the reason it's unavailable for 2.3.7 is beyond me. I'll check it out.

So far it really is just a shorter way of navigation through RZ. I do like those links to raffels, private messages and such. Plus the extremely low disc space it takes.
