Re: Anyone good with dreams?
Writing them down trains your mind to remember them more frequently. We dream every single night we just don't remember them all the time. If you write down your dreams when you wake up everyday you're more likely to start remembering them more often
Re: Anyone good with dreams?
You dream like 3-4 times a night. It's rare that you remember all of them.. it's only likely that you'll remember the most recent one before you wake up. Even if you do remember those *dreams* they can flood instantly (why? I forgot).
Also, those that "don't dream", not only does it mean they're not remembering them, it could mean they're physically exhausted, therefore REM won't kick-in, because your body is recovering.
So yeah you're training your mind to remember, but it depends on your physical condition that night as to whether you'll remember it when you wake up or not.
Re: Anyone good with dreams?
I'm curious about lucid dreaming, does writing down your dreams help for lucid dreaming? I'd like to be able to do that so badly.
Re: Anyone good with dreams?
If you want to learn to Lucid Dream you have to perform Reality Checks at different time intervals each day and train your mind to do so when you're dreaming, also it really disturbs your sleeping pattern because you have to wake yourself up with an alarm in the middle of the night and perform reality checks. But if you can successfully Lucid Dream it's fucking awesome I've had 4 or 5 so far and each time it just gets better and better. But yeah you have to perform reality checks out of nowhere every day and make sure you do it the same way everyday or else it won't work as well, look at something like your Arm and perform a reality check, do this so much that everytime you look at your arm you think of the reality check. What this does is when you look at your arm inside your dream (when you dream) you'll remember to perform a reality check, 95% of the time some weird shit'll happen and that's when you know you're dreaming and then your conscious kicks in but doesn't wake you up so then you can take control of your dream and do whatever.
Here's a couple guides that helped me;

Re: Anyone good with dreams?
Totally worth it, I'm willing to do anything to lucid dream.
Re: Anyone good with dreams?
Everytime I read articles regarding Lucid dreaming, I can't sleep that night.
I'm going to try it tonight, I always read a shitload about it, but have never done it myself.

What does writing down your dreams result in? Cause I read that writing down dreams can be pretty "useful" but it was not detailed why it's useful.
I started this search because I remember at least 1 dream every morning (or about 6 times a week), then some yahoo answers said answered to someone like me saying "write your dreams down! It can be pretty useful someday" so I started writing down my dreams every time I woke up.
So, what's the purpose of it?
Sleep is not just resting of the body, but also resting the mind. In your dreams you dream about the stuff that has a big effect on you in your life. You get nightmares when you go to bed restless and fearing stuff etc. Often dreams don't play out the things exactly that are on your mind, but there is definitely a correlation between your dreams and your feelings in life.
Most people don't need to worry about what they dream, most of the stuff is just day to day stuff and will sort itself out. However for people who keep having disturbing dreams or people have a lot on their mind, it can be very helpful to write down their dreams because it's the mind telling them what they need to deal with. Because in dreams the mind will try to deal with the things you don't deal with in your day to day life, sometimes you're not even aware of it, so that's where dreams come in.
So like most psychology, if you are feeling well then leave it be, if you don't feel well, go and write them down and see what comes out.

What if your dreams make no sence at all?
Lately I have had some wierd dreams, like a frozen lake with dead swans frozen into it.
Another where I was at a derilct ski slope near me, and travelers had occupied it. My housemate drove me down there, and there were these llama's that were realllly tall, like girraffs.
And another I had about a second year on my course. She was on a program, but did witness protection to hide her identity (in the dream not real life). She didnt want people to recognise her silohette so dressed as a bird, so no one would.
Honestly, I want someone to tell me what the hell is going on lol.

I get that often. I mean weird dreams that makes no sense, like once I was with 2 of my bestfriends and you could tell it was in the middle ages, so we were in a castle we tried to escape, when we did we all split out and ran for our lives, guards saw us then started chasing us, as I was pretty much sure that if I ran I'd just float like I usually do in my dreams, I grabbed the grass (lol!) and pulled myself forward to not "float" and ran like a dog ...
But I was aware it was a dream though, can't tell if it was lucid dreaming. But that was surely a nice experience, cause when they lost me I was like in some kind of paradise, I loved it and will never forget this dream.
Re: Anyone good with dreams?
Weird dreams are common because you have no sense of reality and your conscious is not in play. Your brain is in sleep mode as well as your body, there is nothing to keep you in check with reality which is why dreaming capabilities are literally endless.
Re: Anyone good with dreams?
I doubt I sleep long enough to dream at all. I've been sleeping only 4 hours a night for the past 3 years. lol. Though when I did dream, it was always Déjà vu type shit, and that's it. Dream it, then the exact thing happens usually within the week, when I catch on to it I usually do something different to change the outcome, since in my dream it usually isn't that pretty.
Re: Anyone good with dreams?
Whenever I wake up, I can't remember what I dreamed of for some reason.
But writing down your dreams is a good idea though.
Re: Anyone good with dreams?
I tried this today, and when I was in my dream, I realized I was dreaming, but when I looked at my arm for a reality check, I got excited and woke up.
