Set bonuses don't stack?

For example if I have:
g14 gear with set bonuses and bonus for 5th part is +3% crit
and g15 gear with same set bonuses

so if i had 4 parts g14 and 1 part g15 should i still have full set bonus with 3% crit?

Because I always thought it is working this way and players are keeping asking me why they don't stack :/

No it doesnt, bonus are set in a specific list (around 86) and in the list you need to provide exact IDs of the items in the set. If you don't have these exact IDs it doesn't count.

What should work though is to have g14 and g15 in the same set (but you are limited by the number of item ids you can put).

It's called set bonus for a reason. It only works if all items are from the same set :P

Few notes about set bonuses:
1. Only ID(1895 to 1909) can be used... Other bonuses ID seems to doesn't work.
2. When you use them for a set in list90, they must be in ascending order.
3. You can have a maximum of 3 bonuses on the set.
4. If you have 2 set that have the same bonuses ID, they don't stack.

The ones created officialy for bonus's dont stack but if u want them too then use the original stats but you will need to change the name of them.

So you can't have them like this:
1: 1897
2: 1896
3: 1895
?

You can but these stats have a strange behaviour. I think the set behaviour is hardcoded in them, so the id 1897 will require 4 items with it to work, regardless of what the set says. So this setup would work but 2 items wouldn't give anything, 3 would give 1 bonus and 4 would give all 3 bonuses or something like this.

The fact Romulan gave are partially correct but:
1) you can have other IDs, not all work though and as nofxpunkerbian said you'll need to rename them (list 1). (Reminder: as usual wrong stuff tend to go BOOM aka server crash).
2) see above, has to do with how they work.
3) note that you can have bonus-less sets or sets with only 1 item. The minimum items for a bonus to apply is 2 though.
