user data

Hello everyone,
Unfortunately I'm not active those days but I'm still reading some topics in the forum.
Anyway nice to see you guys :thumbup:

To the topic,
the userdata and the userinfo folders are contain the characters information as far as I know.
Those dat files are not readable and they don't remind me any kind of language.

I want to work with those files but in this state it's impossible.
The hex editor makes the code readable, so what process the code is being through?from the unreadanle state to the readable state in the hex editor.
I used to hex many things without have an idea what I am seeing.
So my question splits into few :)

What type of code are those dat files?
What process the code is beeing through when you open it in the hex editor?

I can ask many more questions but I'll take these two for now :thumbup:

The "language" is binary, like most PT data. Even when PT has simple text based ASE to work with, it encodes it in a binary form, this data is a memory structure from the games executable dumped to a file. It is, was and always will be just binary data.

However, if you had looked, you would see that Gregoo has recently released source and executable to turn that "unreadable" binary data into an SQLite database for analysis or processing. ^_^

I guess my search wasn't deep enough.
So anyway this release of gregoo might help me alot.

But there is one thing I don't understand.
Binary represents values using two symbols, 0 and 1, Those file don't.

You're using an hexadecimal editor. That's base 16.
Binary is base 2. Try and find a binary editor if you want to see a bunch of zeros and ones.
