Give your thread a good title

Sorry if this is a little offtopic, I realise it has nothing to do with PW development.

I do however think it needs to be said and I am going to reference this thread in my signature provided 343 does not delete it for being offtopic :)

Anyway, more and more am I logging in to find threads with stupid and annoying titles. As an example, the threads on the page at the time of this post:

Please Read!!!!!

Help me!!!
Little help please

(note the above does not include the edits made by 343 to the thread titles)

The above thread titles are absoultly shocking! They provide either none or very little description as to what the thread is actually about.

PLEASE when you create a thread, provide a good thread title.

A thread title is called a TITLE for a reason, it is not a space to practice your "how fast can I think of a bunch of random words" skills.

You should make your thread title a quick description of the thread subject. It doesnt have to be long, just be a quick summary of what the thread is about. Using a prefix eg [Help] before the thread title is also a good idea

I understand not everyone speaks great English but if you can speak enough to create a thread, I am sure you can make a decent thread title.

I created this thread because I find the poorly named threads screaming for help utterly annoying. There is absoultly no reason why one can not name a thread properly.

 Therefore any thread I see with a title I deem bad, I will post in the thread saying so and refuse to give ANY help the the poster untill the thread title is changed.

I thank you for saying it yourself too (as a non mod).

It gets REALLY old REALLY quick looking at threads called "help" "please read" because when there are 100 of them you begin to forget which was friggin about WHAT !

So, yes - I have begun to rename threads myself that are POORLY named, not just for myself but for everyone else here. So we all know more specifically what it's about... Chances are, if you poorly name a thread I may rename it to something you dislike (or may even be slightly demeaning). If you desire to avoid this, well you know what to do - create topics with GOOD titles, so I don't have to do it for you.

If I see a thread named "Error with gamedb: assert = x" I will post an answer if I know it. On the other hand if I see a thread called "HELP PLS URENTG" in the release section I won't even bother opening it.

I fully agree and have to add that I don't know all that much about coding etc. but I manage to give at least a clue about what I'm talking about in a thread.

Also, if you have several problems, it's more likely to get them all answered if you post them together! Not many people can be bothered to answer you if it looks like you're spamming a forum with loads of topics asking for help with everything.

Furthermore: Google it. Try fixing it yourself (because a good dev uses backups!). THEN ask for help.
