Where is the character creation info stored.
Ok so after sometime sitting on here and learning from you guys and reading threads. I have decided to get more heavily involved in this and start releasing tutorials my first one is already up which involved changing the allowed lengths for registration emails passwords and user names.
Now I am on to my next project attempting to change the allowed length of character names. I know 343 said he didn't think this was possible but I would like to take a stab at it purely from a development and curiosity standpoint so where would I look for relevant files?
Re: Where is the character creation info stored.
clsconfig
Just use pwadmin to edit the templates then if you want it to save just do this command: ./gamedbd gamesys.conf exportclsconfig
Re: Where is the character creation info stored.
I got this done for anyone interested DONT DO IT..I got it to work but it causes serious issues with the in game chat and lag in general meaning I have given up on this particular quest not sure why perhaps its causing an jam up in the database itself but its more than I am willing to deal with while still trying to get my own server squared away lol thanks to those who did help.
Re: Where is the character creation info stored.
That's the only reason I said it's not possible. Sure on one hand anything is possible, but the question is how hard will it be to do.
I really hope you don't mis-read this I hope I don't sound mean or rude at all!
I am glad to see someone (new) experimenting ~ trial and error is KING here (since none of us wrote or have the source to this shit)

Something to do is:
Code:
Make an account.
Change the ID to 16 in phpmyadmin.
Login that account.
Anything done on that account will be on the starter characters. Such as, modify the WB on that account and all WB's created will be just like that. That is how you can achieve items on character create.
Re: Where is the character creation info stored.
Nope I completely understand was just my curiosity running away with me lol and thanks for the tip Ozuru I just thought i would warn others about the can of worms they might be opening if they had a similar curiosity. On a unrelated note. I am about to move off my little server onto a big one and start the process of going live to more than my small beta group. Would a i5 processor sixteen gigs of ram and a 100mbit connection do nicely? Its going to be configured with 2 1tb hdd's so I have plenty of space to toy with.
Re: Where is the character creation info stored.
That should be more than enough (especially in terms of 'just starting') :thumbup1:
Re: Where is the character creation info stored.
Might want a faster Internet connection for it but an i5 can easily handle it all. (and 16gb ram is more than enough)

Re: Where is the character creation info stored.
Alright thanks guys only other thing I can think of is if someone could give me a user cap guess on that connection, also I am fixing to start reworking the index for the servers main page adding a navigation header moving stuff around do new templates for those sorts of things qualify as good releases on here?
