Server connection problem
Hey guys,
i changed mah testserver to direct access today ( killed the hamachi shit ) but now nobody can connect anymore.
Here is what i have done:
1. changed the config to the LAN IP instead of Hamachi IP
2. Restarted the server
3. Redirected all TCP ports from 9000 to 10000 to the servermachine
Now when my testplayers try to connect, they see the serverlist but then comes a message that they cant connect to worldserver. Any ideas whats wrong ?

What else shout it be when i can reach it via LAN but not from the outside ? It can only be a port forwarding problem and all ports used by the server are forwarded to it ( Those ports that are set in config.txt ) :(:
Re: Server connection problem
Fiesta servers doesn't work through routers. You'll have to connect it directly to your gateway. :)

So it need a direct tunnel like a VPN does ? Hmm. Looks like i should code a VPN Launcher then :D:
Re: Server connection problem
I really don't know to be honest, but port-forwarding won't work, that I'm certain of.
Re: Server connection problem
You..can't do that. Unless you make a Windows account on your computer for every player (which won't be much, but still).
But then, get into all the things people could do to your computer if it isn't setup 100% correctly.
yea uh, just stick with Hamachi.
Re: Server connection problem
All that was needed was a port that is not shown in the config. Port 7123 is used by zone.exe and when i forward that one, it works fine. There is a small tool named netstat. Use it with -a and -b argument and it shows you what is going on with the ports.
Oh and iStu, when it whould need a windows account for everyone it whould need it with hamachi too  The server just uses TCP protocol so forwarding is for sure ok. Or else it whould never work at all because your ISP is also forwarding your requests on the web
Re: Server connection problem
Someone said it still doesn't work with that port opened still. Oh well. You shouldn't have a server if you don't have a dedi anyways.

I don't know what you're trying to say, but if you're saying Hamachi needs window's accounts for clients then..ok.

You said i could not unless i do a windows account for every player. So when i need a windows account for every player i whould need that with hamachi too. Hamachi is also just forwarding ports ( i know its a VPN thingy but more or less thats also just a relay ).
And for the dedi thing, im just playing around with mah test server. Dont want to open a server for everyone so i dont really need a dedi  Anyways, why should i need a dedi ? Its running on a 19" i7-2600k with 12 gb ram. Its just laying around on mah table instead of beeing in a servercenter :D:
And btw, now its working. Just forwarded all ports between 5000 and 65535 to the servermachine now. Too lazy to check every single port :D: but if someone wants to see a portlist for the files, i attached one.
Re: Server connection problem
you'd still need a good net...but nice pc there. and are you working for any specific server atm?
Re: Server connection problem
Do you not know how windows VPN works? Or do you plan on completely making your own version lol?
Anyways I replied to here wayyy more than I should have. Bye.

Oh. 20 mbit SDSL should be good enough i think.
Nope not working for a specific server. Just trying around on mah own to learn a bit about windows stuff ( normally doing all that on linux ) so mah server never will be open for all. Its just for playing around :):

Im already working on an own VPN software using openVPN source. I know how it works but im a bit confused about registering virtual networkcards in a simple game launcher :D: I will try to keep it as customizable as it can be so maybe when im done i will share the program for everyone. But first i want to finish mah "Server in a box" thingy installing the serverfiles, the ODBC, the services etc and run them all from one program.
Btw this is a community so its never "too much" to reply
