343's complete package IP configuration
Hi guys.
I'm using 343's Complete Package and Ubuntu Server 10.04.3 32bit. I've installed it using VMware Player on Windows 7. I'm at the point where I have to configure the IP's in the three server files.
I got my WAN IP from this site (What Is My IP Address? Lookup IP, Hide IP, Change IP, Trace IP and more...)
and
My LAN IP from RUN> CMD> ipconfig and then looked at Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection:
IPv4 Address............: xxx.xxx.x.xxx
Now is this the right way to look for your WAN and LAN IP address? (I've used the LAN and WAN IP found in Windows 7) And if so, what parts do I change in the server files?
Please look at the picture for more info.

Help would be greatly appreciated.

lol, why did you censor your local ip? XDD
343's package is meant for retards to be able to install it. If it's really that hard, watch his video guide.
All is right but the second picture, make it your local IP...

I've watched his video but thanks I'll try that.
Edit: That didn't work. If I use my LANIP/admin I get "Problem Loading Page" and if I use my WANIP/admin I get "The connection has timed out"
Here's a picture of what my hosts file looks like right now.

Stupid questions deserve stupid answers =)
Re: 343's complete package IP configuration
Wan IP is your public IP that you can find from sites that find you IP.
The Lan IP is whatever you put for the IP of your server when you were setting up Ubunutu. The Lan IP must be on the same Network as your other PCs if using bridged and must NOT be the same IP as any other device on the network.

So my question was stupid? And if so, then I'm sure you could enlighten me why it still doesn't work, I've added a picture and more info to the other post above brunno's post.

Perfectworld ip = WAN ip
all other should be 127.0.0.1 the LAN ip for the server on your config file should be the lan ip of the pc, found with ifconfig on linux
this is a 1.4.4 hosts file, but the same applies. my server is host-only however:
Code:
#
# hosts This file describes a number of hostname-to-address
# mappings for the TCP/IP subsystem. It is mostly
# used at boot time, when no name servers are running.
# On small systems, this file can be used instead of a
# "named" name server. Just add the names, addresses
# and any aliases to this file...
#
# By the way, Arnt Gulbrandsen <agulbra@nvg.unit.no> says that 127.0.0.1
# should NEVER be named with the name of the machine. It causes problems
# for some (stupid) programs, irc and reputedly talk. :^)
#
# For loopbacking.
127.0.0.1 localhost
192.168.96.131 perfectworld
192.168.96.131 aumanager
192.168.96.131 manager
192.168.96.131 link1
192.168.96.131 game1
192.168.96.131 game2

192.168.96.131 backup
192.168.96.131 auth
192.168.96.131 gmserver
# End of hosts.
you could also have it like this:
Code:
#
# hosts This file describes a number of hostname-to-address
# mappings for the TCP/IP subsystem. It is mostly
# used at boot time, when no name servers are running.
# On small systems, this file can be used instead of a

# for some (stupid) programs, irc and reputedly talk. :^)
#
# For loopbacking.
127.0.0.1 localhost
192.168.96.131 perfectworld
127.0.0.1 aumanager
127.0.0.1 manager
127.0.0.1 link1
127.0.0.1 game1
127.0.0.1 game2
127.0.0.1 game3
127.0.0.1 delivery
127.0.0.1 database
127.0.0.1 backup
127.0.0.1 auth
127.0.0.1 gmserver
# End of hosts.

Re: 343's complete package IP configuration
@Psytrac: Okay now I have it the same way you do (with my own IP of course) but it still doesn't work. I think I know why though, when I type in "./start.sh" to start the server, APACHE and MySQL won't start. I've made a screenshot for the error and yes I have installed xampp, lampp like in 343's tutorial video. (cd /root/notes
./setup.sh)

Yes, you didn't know what to put as your WAN or LAN ip...
Re: 343's complete package IP configuration
Re: 343's complete package IP configuration
if those files do not exist (as it states in your screenie) chances are you also forgot to run setup.sh
Re: 343's complete package IP configuration
@Psytrac: It lists the following: bin cgi-bin htdocs lib licenses logs security tmp.
@343: No, I did run setup.sh with "cd /root/notes" and then "./setup.sh". It installed a bunch of files and then I had to reboot, just like in your video. So I don't know why it didn't work, I've followed your video word by word.
Re: 343's complete package IP configuration
lampp is not there? resetup your server
