What can I say...
This is just amazing, really really good

Concept is good.
The border seems strange when it's upside down at the bottom...
Shouldn't the register button be higher up so that it's easier for people to notice?
The design is all right I guess. It's not bad, but it's not all that great either. In my opinion.
The event calender thing is interesting.
And there's the random circles sort of underneath the download button... what. Why are they there... doesn't make sense.

The iceberg background doesn't seem to fit with a CMS with the name "MapleLeaf" don't you think?

I like the borders, content just need some work. I also suggest you to not use so much difference colors. Anyway it despends on the theme of your graphics

I like the approach, but I think you should add more to it. When I see a website, I like 'fullness'. How much content, different things, etc that they have on the homepage.

Seeing just a side navigation, a login box and a main content box on the homepage is rather boring, in my opinion. I say add more, and if you have to widen the layout then go for it.

Add mini ranking scale... stay social, add a facebook widget, add a poll. Just stuff like that.

Other than that the layout isn't that bad. I would take a different approach with regards to your side navigation though. When it's all said and done, it could look better if your touch it up and add maybe a drop down, or something. Just play around with it when it comes down to actually coding the template (if you go that far).
