What you did in the video is absolutly not hard... and doesn't require skill. It does require a sense of art, and you cleary have it. Outcome looks nice!

You really need to work on your color, lighting and depth. Make use of adjustment layers, they help allot with all of those I've mentioned.

Work on making your pieces more realistic, too.
Keep practicing.
