i dont know why ppl deside to close threads they finds pointless, first off my server is MY SERVER, only a select few ppl come on this server, second the few ppl who do come on are helping me test things, i dont want wepons that normal players can use to 1 shot everything, i am learning, this is a TEST SERVER, every person on my server is helping me test things and writeing down any problems, yes they even have accuess to pwAdmin. if you feel like closeing a thread once it has been answered properly then please do so but please be respectful and let the post find an answer, give the poster some time to post back.

on one of the post it said that my glitch was an over heal, this makes since, but what causes them to over heal while my cleric wont? ill do some more testing with the stats of the toons and see where the cut off point is, btw they are gm's not just players, i have only 2-4 regular players, who are testing it like normal

on the second post i asked abt a wep that could kill even a gm, i stated what made me think of it, and still would like an answer as to how this can happen, trials im pwi show that its possible to kill a immune to damage monster, its not a time based kill, if you dont have enough idols they pass, each idol damages them, idk if thats not damage that can be created or not, i dont want a "lag" to kill a gm.

once again i would like to state this is not a public server as ppl would think, this is a testing server and eventually Will be gone, i will move to a 1.4.4 server later, for now im haveing fun learning, please let this thread gather some useful information

First off, before you 'take it personally'; you're getting an infraction because I do not and cannot show 'favoritism' here (and you broke the rules by opening a thread in regard to continuing threads that have been closed)...

Next, your 'glitch' thread was appropriately answered. It's simple mathematics -- there is nothing you can do to change math. 1 + 1 will always equal 2, int32 max will ALWAYS equal 2147483648, Pi will ALWAYS equal 3.14159 26535 89793 23846 26433 83279 50288 41971 69399 37510 58209 74944 59230 78164 06286 20899 86280 34825 34211 70679 … etc... Just because it's a 'video game' does not mean that it defies or can defy mathematics...

So, you want a weapon that can kill even a GM with 'invulnerability mode on' or a 'creature' that is 'immune to damage'. Simple logic following the English language defeats this, immune means immune while invulnerable means invulnerable! No 'bypasses' or other ways around that. These 'trials' you speak of (I do know they exist since I play official, but) I know nothing about them other than I can also safely tell you they did not exist in v1.3.6 so your point on that is moot. So, at the least that would make this the wrong section to be posting about it in.

I can also safely say, chances are they're still truly "immune" or "invulnerable" though any possible method of "defeating" them is through quests/tasks.data, npcgen/trigger links, and or aipolicy

So it's pretty safe to say, "any dreams you have of being able to have anyone kill a GM that has activated 'invulnerability' mode is out the window"!

Lastly, there is no difference whether your server is 'public', 'private', or otherwise; modifying and developing is modifying and developing no matter what type of server it's for (or if it's even just for 'knowledge')... So there is no bias in regard to the answers you will receive (for the most part) whether you run a server just for you and 1 friend, or whether you run a full fledged 'public/private server' or whether you run a server just for yourself to learn shit on... Also, no matter what 'type' of server you run (public, private, or learning), or what version you're running (1.3.6 or 1.4.4), one thing doesn't change. That is, that my 'job' is to keep these boards clean and to enforce its rules. was not the right way to do so, you could have posted just like u did on this one, the respectful way, i have no "beef" with you, but that question was not answered, you simply closed it w/o answering, that is y i asked, and you closed the other one b4 i got a chance to ask any questions, this is a forum site, questions and answers, i still had more questions on a post you closed early, no other option than to ask it again and ask to leave it open, so if i get "punished" for still haveing questions so be it, i did break the rule, so ill accept it, but that wont stop me from asking questions in the future if i see to it that the question was not answered

ps. i was able to test the idea of going over in healing, sure enough when i hit 250-270 points in magic, i then in turn did the same thing, now i ask this pulely to ask, is it possible to increase the ammount they can heal b4 this happens? i do not plan on doing so, but as i have a general understanding of numbers/varables, i know that pi may = 3.14.... but if i wanted pi = 876 i could so chose to do that, in codeing numbers go to variables in tables so that my logic may not be the correct logic, if you expanded the tables for lvl's then you could in turn lvl more than 150 lvls, the only reason is bc the table was only built so big. but if you took the time you server could have a real 1000 lvls not just make it look like ur lvl is 1000

If a moderator closes your thread and you want it open still then the correct procedure would have been to contact the moderator explaining the situation.

I see absolutely no reason to want to a kill a GM at all. Your GM's should be people you trust so there should be a reason to kill them. If they do something wrong then fire them.

pi will always equals pi no matter what. You can create a variable called pi and assign it 876 but does that make it pi? No, it makes it a variable called pi. You cannot change the int overflow.

You are pushing the game beyond its intended limits so its going to break. Anything over level 150 is just stupid. Even level 150 is too high and has balance issues. Even if you could have 1000 levels who is going to make enough content for those levels? We can barely create new content as it as and even with tools it will take ages. Instead of trying to push the game beyond its limits and breaking it you could make better use of your time by exploring other areas making custom content.

If you still really want things like this then you are better off making your own game from scratch.

your correct past 150 is pointless, it was just an example, this game is not built for 150+, but y cant we build it up? i mean we have a foundation, y cant we expand that foundation and place a house on top of it? y start from scratch? i mean i get that we dont know everything abt the servers, or how the files work, but come on someone out their built it, someone was able to build the code, it would not be impossible for someone with the same knowlege to undo it right?

ps currently i am looking into 343's release tho for me who knows nothing abt linux, this will be harder, and this site is not a linux helping site, i have done everything threw ftp connection for hrace009's server, so i dont even know where to start bc i have never done anything with linux, currently i use Oracle VM VirtualBox but have found i get errors when trying to give it even 2gbs of memory to use, i want to be able to use all 4gb's of my memory, any sujestions on where to start, ill do some digging from the starting point, i just dont know where to start, not even on the linux info where to get it or what i should get as i know their have to be more than 1 linux out their. give me a starting point and ill go from their

frgu if you read the last post i asked for a place to start, to run a PW SERVER from 343! this is indeed a PW related post, and if it would be better to start a new post and ask so it can be looked at then fine, but for many ppl who want to run 343's release but are stuck to hrace009 bc of no knowlege to linux, and b4 anyone goes and says learn some linux or you cant run a pw server, the fact that i have been running a server and editing it proves you dont need to know linux, maybe to first start one up you do.

So you do not have to create a new thread I will go ahead and try to give you a push start here.

You really do not have to 'know' Linux to get my release 'up and going'. Yes, you do have to install Linux, but that is as simple as installing any other OS (and is also covered in the video in post #2 of my release). Once you have linux installed you really still don't have to 'know' Linux provided you follow the installation instructions (and or video) in post #2. I could sum it up real short for ya'. Download all necessary components of course (server, client, dev tools, and linux server edition). Then:

• Install Linux
• Copy contents of server release to / (system root)
• Install ia32-libs if using 64-bit Linux
• Run provided setup.sh
• Configure/set IP & other necessary info in
  • /opt/lampp/htdocs/config.php
  • /opt/apache-tomcat-5.5.28/2/webapps/pwAdmin/WEB-INF/.userconfig.jsp
  • (and of course serverlist.txt on the client side /element/userdata/server/)
• Reboot
• Run start.sh

Of course one should 'know' Linux, but my release really was made so simple that I swear an ape could be taught how to install it. To at the least, get them started :wink: The way in which I distribute it, it can be installed on any type of system, from a VM to a physical machine (so it is very versatile). Only other thing that should be kept in mind is, you will be able to find help here in direct regard specific to PW (or even to a specific "release"), however, if you need help with Linux (that's not really what this forum is for) -- your best bet is google. IE: Lets say you want to know how to view the contents of a directory, but you have no idea how ~ just google "Linux directory listing", etc... No real reason to ask something like that here, as you're likely to get ridiculed anyway... Same goes for, if you decide to install anything on/in a VM. This also really isn't the place to be asking about VM's and or how they work; if you don't know how to mount an image in say VMware, I would first recommend looking at google, or VMware itself ~ "how to mount an image in VMware", "https://my.vmware.com/web/vmware/evalcenter?p=player", "http://www.vmware.com/pdf/vmware_player40.pdf", "https://www.vmware.com/support/pubs/player_pubs.html".

*Deep breath, preparing for 343 style rant*

1. Correct spelling and Grammar will always help your posts to be better understood and usually answered better.

2. I don't know much about Linux, never had a lesson in my life (the most "techie" thing I coped with was Visual Basic and that was years ago). Yet I managed to install 343's server FASTER than any other release I had tried. Anything else I needed to know, I googled and oh look I'm learning "on the job".
Developing any game, be it from scratch or modding an existing game is a learning process. Even the most experienced game developers mess up sometimes and they learn from that.

3. If your computer has 4Gb of memory (just like mine) then you CANNOT use all 4Gb of it to run a PW server. Using more than half of your 4Gb memory will not leave enough to run your OS and therefore you will pretty much kill your computer. A VM will crash before it will kill your computer and usually (from my experience) corrupt your server image. I know VBox will show a big fat red warning if I try to use anything over about 2.5Gb.

4. As people have stated, whether you run a full "public" server or one from your PC or anything in between, you will be treated just like everyone else here. People with "big" servers still ask questions and people with their own personal server nobody can get to make good releases! RageZone is and hopefully always will be the common ground where developers can share skills, ideas and releases, get some help to learn then hopefully help somebody else in the future. Nobody is better or worse than anyone.

5. Replies will often take time. I have posted in the past asking what I now know is a really simple (and perhaps slightly dumb on my part) question and it has taken a few days to get a reply. People have lives. People are in different time zones to you. Chillax and try to sort something out for yourself while you wait. If you can't fix it, then you made a backup, right?
Also harassing people in PMs is most likely to get you ignored, if not reported for being a nuisance.

6. You got a problem with a Mod doing their job? Contact that Mod, or if you feel they are being unfair to you then contact another or a more senior Mod. 9 times out of 10 though, the Mod will be right and you will have done something wrong.
Don't flood with loads of topics with different questions, make yourself a thread called "5 Questions About Linux VM" or some shit.

7. Don't be a dick. Lighten up, you're supposed to be working on a game here!
