Server Lag

Hello,i have a problem with the server,when i have more then 100 players online,the server start lagging,but is not lagging from CENTOS is something from SQL,when i'll write account id and password in game to login and press ok,anything work perfect,after that when i choose the channel i have to stay alot of time,in many cases i get Failed To Connect To The Server,if i successfully enter to select character screen,when i select my character,again i have to wait to much and sometimes i receive Failed To Connect To The Server...can you tell me why i have this problem,i have connection 100 MB/S,proc i5,8 GB ram,4 Channels,MSSQL 2005.

Suggestion : buy Dedi... to avoid Lag with High Mbps
and Also 8gb is not is not enough to support 100+ people online...

What?Are you kidding me?I had this server at my home for 2 years with only 4 GB and 200+ ppl online to a quad core,and there was no lag,but i had it on the SQL 2000,so i guess is form SQL 2005.

What MSSQL Edition do you use? Express?

Yes Alpha.

The express edition comes with severe restrictions, it is limited to using one processor, 1 GB memory and a maximum of 4 GB database files (10 GB with 2008, 2008 R2 and 2012).

That could be your bottleneck.

I'm not sure if this feature is included in 2005 (I ditched 2005 years ago), but you could check the Activity Monitor to see how much load is applied to the DB.

Well,i found the activity monitor,but how do i edit the resources on it?

There are only 2 active threads in your screenshot, that shouldn't cause any performance issues with your machine.

Yes,but i don't wanna trust no body,to give the access,if you could tell me how do i edit this it will be nice, i know here isn't a SQL section but i really need the help with that because on google i didn't found something to helping me with that,i search @ google like 2 hours...and nothing.

If by "adding more resources" you mean traversing the Express Edition limits I stated above (1 GB ram, etc.) then there's no way. You must upgrade your edition (i.e. "buy" :tongue: the Enterprise Edition).

I'd have asked you via PM if you had it enabled, but may I ask how large your database files are (the .mdf files)? And are they fragmented?
