[PC] Diablo III

Well the game is free to play this weekend for a stress test Diablo III Open Beta Weekend - Diablo III

And after just playing a couple of minutes with the monk, I can already tell it's awesome. The moves he makes, the sound effects, the visual etc. Just so very well done.

Can't wait for it to be released to play the final product!

Totally can't be fucked doing all of that for 3 days of gameplay in a Beta. I'm perfectly fine waiting for retail.

It downloads very quickly. Besides a true fan will take the couple of days. ;)

I have the game prepurchased, i just don't see why you would want to sink all of that time and effort into something which is going to wipe in 3 days. If i was an actual Beta tester it would be different, but getting the client and playing it for 3 days up to lvl 13 then having to stop and then uninstall the beta client and then getting the proper client and waiting for retail... I think doing all of that will make me sick of D3 even before its retail release.

Once I get a hold of this game, Goodbye outside world.

I'm very quickly trying to finish all my life goals before the full release!

played the beta, it offers about 2 hours of gameplay, the game is good but I hate how limited you are with your own skills, I mean you you're only allowed to equip 2 skills at once (later up to 6) what's up with that, when did it become normal to make the game "reward" you with being able to use more skills without changing the shortcuts, you earned those skills why can't you use a decent number of them at once?

Diablo II will be awesome forever.
As much I have seen the in game videos I just can say one thing : I don't like as much as Diablo II.
And Diablo III have to big system requirements.
My PC can't even handle it normally.

Anyway just got myself the collectors edition. I thought I was out of luck because all the sites were sold out months ago, but the biggest site in the Netherlands just started offering it and I got in fast. :D

91 euro, but it's worth it, I'm just a huge Diablo fan.

yes I played diablo 2, and there it sucked even more that you could only select 2 skills at once, since when does the fact that it's "hack and slash" means that they should add features that compromise the enjoyment?

2 skills at once? Sure, but through easily accessed hotkeys I had access to 20 more skills lol. Silly kids these days.

I'm not a kid, I know you could learn more than 2 skills at once but if you have to click the skills icon and pick another skill to assign to your mouse button I don't call it "selecting 20 skills" and there were no hot keys to swap skills, 1 2 3 4 were assigned to use potions and there was no way to assign keys to cast skills or keys to swap the what skills were assigned to your mouse button

Well yeah, if they're new to D2 I bet they wouldn't. But if you do a bit of reading/experimenting or even asking more experienced players online, they'd be able to tell you that lol.

Simply though, D2 was and is one of the best old school games around. I played for years and years myself.

Aside from your failure to even understand the basics of the game.
This is just idiotic. This is not a top down MMORPG with 15 million skills., don't try to make it into something it's not. This is how hack and slash games are played. Accept it for what it is or play a different genre.

i've never played diablo or diablo 2, i'll be buying this because im a huge ass blizzard fanboy who buys anything they put on a store shelf. am i actually able to play this whole game as a co-op online thing or is there a forced single player

I've never been a huge fan of these types of games but I've got to be honest that after a few videos, it actually looks really quite epic and I think that I'll be playing it once it comes out. Monk looks awesome and like the look of Witch Hunter too, can see it being a big hit.

Nobody who ever played D2 hardcore would complain that you can only have 2 "active" spells... It's a hack n slash game, you only have 2 mouse clicks don't you? That's like complaining that in Devil May Cry 4 all you do is sword slash and shoot with your gun... controller has 2 triggers, mouse has 2 clicks, hack 'n' slash games are made they way they were meant to be.

I think one of the problems with the younger kids is that they expect everything with a hp and mp bar to be world of warcraft

Yup, tbh it's what I hate about a lot of the MMORPG's is that they give you a million skills while most of them are don't really give you anything good, 10 sec def boost there, 5 sec attack boost here, 3 second quick regeneration etc. I rather have a lot less skills but they actually do something important. Look at the DotA games, you don't use a lot of skills, but you are still very varied in the options you have and they all very different playstyles. There simplicity makes your tactics and skill all the more important.

Depends on the game. RF for instance, mages have over 50 different skills to use and each one of them is useful depending on the situation, which is why your 5 skill bars are completely full as a mage. Everquest was similar. You got a shitload of spells but they were all needed because of the varying classes. WoW kind of blew it out of proportion to make the game easier for dumbasses to pick up and play, but before that I think it was a good plan. I had a blast playing EQ and learning how to use different skills for different classes and groups.

I never saw Diablo II lacking with skills anyways. There are a lot of different skills in that game, lots of different builds... I don't see how anyone would have said that game was lacking with skills. I guess if you didn't know about the hot keys then you'd probably get annoyed. but there is a reason they include little instruction booklets with games. Maybe people should stop assuming they know how to do everything and read the booklet for once. :P:

My point is that the 50 skills aren't all useful, my point is that they don't need to put in so many skills. Many skills can be just build in the character, instead of the various defense skills, give them a defense boost, instead of 7 attacks of each element, give the character 7 skills plus 1 skill to change the element etc.

There are lots of ways to reduce the number of skills, the fact is that they are never truely unique anyway and it focuses the game too much on clicking the skill in rapid succession, rather then to actually use tactics and skills to kill an enemy.
In the end, you have to ask yourself, are you playing a RPG where your skills matter, or are you playing an advanced version of bejeweled where clicking the right icons at the right team will get you that win?

I am interested in content and story of the game much less of the skills.

For example Half Life 2 is a 3D shooter , that I finished like 20 times , and I can say story wise , and content , it's the best you can find. No other 3D shooter will beat it any soon.

I'm having Diablo 3 delivered to me on the 15th, purely because I was like a few pounds off being able to buy it from Battle.net :(

Nope. At first I was quite shocked. But then when you think about it, whereas before people bought lots of stuff from sites, which were unreliable and went all in the pockets of asian farmers, now the buying of items will be safe and every player can make money off it.

I'm not saying it's ideal, I'm not saying it's the solution, but since this is the reality, I do think this is the lesser of two evils. Besides this way my collectors edition will end up being free some day, because trust me, I'm gonna make money of this. ;)

Pay2Win was/is in diablo 2 too, though through unofficial sites that sell items, so I guess it's not different, other than that you can sell the stuff you have without making your own item site.

It works both ways. That is what it makes so unique. I mean, sure the idea is shit, cuz there are already quite a few games got auction house, but lets not forget, the game is 10 years old..

Plus, Instead of wasting money on cash shop, once your inventory gets stuffed with unique drops, instead of npc'ing it, you might as well auction it..

Eh i wasn't too enticed by the D3 Collectors Edition bonuses, so i got the Darksiders 2 Collectors Edition instead and just normal D3 from Battle.net. Mine's all installed and ready to play on release!

It's definitely a great collectors edition, very well made, the artbook is quite impressive and all in all it's really what can be expected of it. Definitely glad I got it.

He must've rushed thru then, I've played for 11 hours and I'm not even at the end of the third act. On the first difficulty.

The game was finished in 6.5 hours.

I've played maybe 5 hours and am still in 1st Act @ lvl 14. Multiplayer is sweet.

JB isn't very good for release-day deliveries.

Classes are almost the exact same as Diablo II - Demon hunter (amazon), barbarian, Which doctor (necromancer), Wizard (sorceress) and the Paladin was replaced with a Monk. Playing a Demon hunter atm and it's pretty fun, my mate loves the witch doc.

So was deciding yesterday whether or not to get this game. And I decided last night to buy it. Even though it's 60 dollars definitely worth every cent. I've been playing for like 8 hours total and I LOVE ITTTT. I never played D1 or D2 but still, it's still fun. I'm a fan of RPG games so this game is definitely worth it. And you can even make money off this game, talkk about the best game ever!


and I found this super rare item - put it in auction house but shouldve waited until I could've sold this for currency.. but oh well.

I am going to purchase it now, Is it based on a storyline like should i play D2 b4 D3 or fking play.

Doubt it would have sold for much at all, I doubt people will spend a lot of cash on beginners items, it's mostly the end game stuff.

Can't get past Belial on my Monk solo. Probably my connection speed, but then again the Monk's resistances are really low.

Got the game last tuesday.. can't play until ADSL2+ gets installed next Thursday FML.

Finished my first playthrough last night and I have to say that diablo (the boss) is a big let down, with my mate (demon hunter) and me mage, I kept freezing him while my mate stunned him non stop, we barely got hit, hopefully the nightmare version is immune to stun

Most people just went to normal for the first time, normal is just easy, it's their to introduce you to the game, experiment with your character etc. Nightmare is already much and much harder, I've had harder fights with random rare spawned mobs in act 1 then I did with Diablo.
The hardest was a vampiric skeleton leeching group who shot off lightning bolts when hit, now these bastards, even just the regular ones, would leech more then I could hit, which is kinda annoying as a barbarian, had to fury up with stuns etc and then throw axes. :P

Damn latency in this game kills me in boss fights. Have to play over wifi and my connection has been in the range of 350-1100, 500 being my normal. Think that plus my resistances are really low (guessing Belial attacks with poison) need to go and find something to raise them. Only part I hate about the game is you have to have a constant broadband internet connection.

I am a pretty decent Demon hunter and at lvl 31 with my mate's Barbarian and my brother's mage we took maybe 10 tries to down him even with stuns. It was a fun fight, i had hoped for a more involving phase like diablo 2, but the graphics more than made up for any downfalls. The amount of detail they put into even the smallest aspect of this game is amazing. The wind blowing the trees, the grass moving as you run past, the destructible environment... IMO this game is in the same league of Skyrim if not better, i absolutely love it and so does everyone i've talked to even if they never played Diablo I or II.

Absolutely this, the mobs in Act I raped us harder than Diablo did. The merchant items were also so much better than our shit lol.

Reached Act 3 of Nightmare, died about 20-30 times so far, mostly because of those stupid arcane traps (Pink lasers) it's challenging in Nightmare mode but once you leveled to level 40 it gets smoother and you don't die that much anymore. At least with good gear
I still can't get over the fact that there's only 6 skill shortcuts, sure it's done on purpose to force you to pick your skills very carefully, but I could really use 2 extra slots to keep buffs

The detail is this game definitely is fantastic, it really captures the feeling that should be in a Diablo game.

The changes in items, gold etc and the adding of the auction house, is just really nice, I'm just constantly running out of gold to get me some good gear to fight the constantly harder minions, it's a welcome change from D2.

Yea, i kept dying from the aoe fire (possibly latency issues, i couldn't seem to move out of them before insta-dying with almost 2k hp) and without main DPS + stuns the tank barb and mage didn't last long in 3-player mode. Couldn't res in the battle either, too many interrupts.

Spinning lasers + Aoe fire dmg just sucks my 14k health within 10 seconds.. So bullshit..

Urgh, champions on hell+ difficulty are a pain in the arse. Bosses are still piss though, lol. Monks are so OP.

Monk - Game Guide - Diablo III

FoT builds a shit load of spirit, allow me to spam the mantra every 2-3 sec. Perma 1k2 HPS, plus a 15% hp shield. Serenity lets me ignore so many boss mechanics it's kinda unfair. Sweeping wind is sick AoE DPS, and seems to proc FoT rune for perma max spirit in aoe situations. Mystic Ally has as much defence as I do, and tanks like crazy, plus 10% vit making the 15% shield better. 7SS is insane dps to put it simply, add on the teleport and untargetable (yay more ignoring boss mechanics), makes it OP. Passives are just icing on the cake, stack 1 resist and you can get like 50%+ resist to all. Trans gives even more healing from mantra spam, and dex to armour is fantastic too.

I bet monks will be one of the first classes Blizz nerf, lol.

My gym mate has 12k dps on lvl 57 DH.

I cried inside..

Only boss I died to was Belial, dat meteor shower... Didn't have any trouble with Diablo though. Maybe cuz I got the Templar who heals me twice, my Hex which heals me, Soul Siphon that heals, and the passive that when you get under 10% HP you get invulnerable and gets healed. Oh and I also got some health potions. YOU CANNOT KILL THE WITCH DOCTOR. Currently level 33. Nightmare difficulty isn't that bad yet, although I'm only half through act I on it. Hopefully when I finish Nightmare, I got all the stuff to enter Whymshire. Remember: There is no cow level.

Action house breaks the game so much, (no joke lol). My barb got 11k dps unbuffed, 16k buffed, and 31k aoe crits... I am only lvl 51 :scared: My weapon only has 494dps though :(

is the US server down? on the server status is says Game server is up. server went offline 15-30 mins ago?

Theres a maintenance till 9am PDT. Which is in like 4hrs or 5.


lv 58 DH, crappy bow(320 dps only), 14k hp and 23k dps, soloing hell atm in act 3 near azmodan. 60 today.

Got a 51 monk too which I made on the 2nd day it came out.
