Minecraft Significant Improvements

Minecraft apparently won't release an official update until they reach 1.3 , however they do a snapshot every week. Over the past few weeks I have been watching what they added , and here is a few important ones.

First , they changed the Creative inventory. That's right. They added tabs to it , like in Xbox 360 version , except the PC version has more tabs , and those tabs are categorizing the items. Such as Foodstuff , blocks , rocks , enchant , miscellaneous , etc.

They have promised trading with Villagers. Well now its available. With this update they also added a new ore , called emerald , which for now is used to trade villagers. You can buy different stuff from Villagers , as I seen so far only cheap stuff though. No diamond.

Every snapshot they work on separating the server from the client. What this means , Minecraft on PC will be more like on the Xbox. People will be able to join your Single Player. The draw back of this , you can no longer pause your game.

They have added new plant , cocoa bean plant. They grow on palm trees in jungle biomes , and as wheat , or sugar cane , or trees , you can harvest cocoa beans too. You can make cookies out of cocoa beans by the way.

They have improved the name database of the game. This means each block got an unique name now.

They have added sandstone stairs for decorations.

Numerous bug fixes.

You can now search for items in the creative inventory without mods.

You can now place snow on blocks in creative mode.

Picking blocks now picks the right blocks in creative mode.

They have added desert strongholds. More like Egyptian pyramids , they generate in desert biomes.

I also forgot cheatmode in single player , upon which you can use server commands in single player. You can enable this when you make a new world , in the "World Options" dialog.

They have also added a "bonus chest" feature to world generation , in that chest you can find some basic stuff , such as wood or stone pick axe , or sword , or both , or axe , and / or a few materials.

They also added editable books. You can now make books , and write your story , diary , or whatever you want in it. Or server rules for example.

They also added a new block called "Monster Egg" , I don't know its use for now , it pretty much looks like a stone block , except when you break it a silverfish pops up.

I've been playing minecraft for years already and I'm getting bored being alone in my world and playing creative mode in the browser.
I really look forward for a crack friendly server for the game.

They have added ENDER CHESTS. That's right , now its avaibale in Miencraft vanilla (latest snapshot) , you craft it the same way as a normal chest , except instead wooden planks you use obsidian , and you put an enderman eye in the middle.

IF you don't know what Ender chest does , it basically you make 2 chests , and whatever you put in the first one , will also be available in the second ... and thrid , and forth. This is usefull if you have distant bases , and don't want to travel for your stuff.

Now that is freaking awesome! Looking forward to the next update indeed!

You are now able to generate "Large Biomes" , this means each Biome is HUGE , and you can actually get lost in it. This is particularly useful if you like 1 type of Biome , but it was too small before.

They added command to see the current map's SEED. It should work both multiplayer and singleplayer(if cheatmode ennabled). Usefull if you like a map on a server and you want to play it single player .. or idk.

Again a snapshot week , this time they have added and fixed as follows :

Trading with villagers have been updated.
Enchanting system has been rebalanced.
A new redstone activating block.
A better creative inventory
Pausing should work now in single-player
Some minor terrain changes
Added adventure game mode (needs more work) /gamemode 2
A lot of smaller changes and fixes

If you want to try out the new snapshot , visit Minecraft Snapshot Week 22 , download the JAR files , backup your original files , IMPORTANT , back up your SAVES too , snapshots may break them.

Seems like every time I take a break from playing, by the time I play again they have like 999999 new game systems.

Haven't been on Minecraft in ages actually, some major improvements there though.

I just hope they put all of this into Xbox minecraft! :D:

I think they will, I don't believe it will be any time soon though because it's only just been released, just give it a couple of weeks, maybe months and there will be some major updates that will take place.

Dear Minecraft lovers , Mojang announced that they are working to finish of the updates and release 1.3 This week , they have been interrupted by Sweedish National Day.

The latest snapshot (week 23) includes as follows :

Enchantment levels are slightly exponential again
Added Ender Portal frame to Creative Inventory
A lot of smaller changes and fixes.

View the page where Mojang claims to be finishing updates and working to release 1.3 very soon.

And , week 24 , Mojang was moving offices but mean while they have tweaked the server client communication , and now you are able to publish your single player on LAN. That's right , now you can play Minecraft in LAN with your friends. All you need to do is to type in /publish

The command is temporary , and the feature is still buggy but it works. Hence you can't type it in either unless you enable cheat mode. However , soon enough it becomes a full pledged feature of Minecraft on PC.

Other changes include , "Ender chest now breaks into 8 obsidian , instead of Ender chest , a lot of smaller changes and fixes , the texture pack folder now works on MAC"

They need to add a crafting guide in-game already its always open wiki for me.

Havent read on minecraft for quite some time. Are they anywhere close creating decent API::::?;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;

To be honest they never said anything about API besides when they started making snapshots , which was when they released the latest stable build. But my understanding , it will be a feature of Minecraft 1.3

Right now they continue with snapshots , and fixes , which you can acquire every week and try it out. So far they implemented the villager trading system as they promised , and they added quiet a few stuff as well fixed , but no , I didn't see anything about the API yet.
