... There is some good laptops out there but the answer is still obvious for performance AND price... best desktop > best laptop in both performance and price..

Now you're just offsetting them cause I said that... The laptop cause its an i7 with HT & more RAM, graphics don't matter for a server & thats assuming both have identical HDD performance..
An i5 desktop will still be better..
Laptop = 640 gb 5400 rpm HDD
Desktop = 500 gb 7200 rpm HDD
Which is more performance?
Desktop for sure.
But the question is..why would you use an laptop for a server?
Out of curiosity, I asked him to use the laptop as a server is already
