[ARMA2] DayZ

For those who don't know what it is: DayZ Mod
It's a persistent world ARMA2 zombie apocalypse mod where you fight to survive hunger, zombies and perhaps most of all, other players (who are just trying to survive as well).

I've been playing this several hours a few times a week and getting pretty good at basic game play, but I'm missing team work (only a couple buddies play and not always the same time as me). It's difficult trying to go anywhere near the better loot spots in lack of a group and it's more fun with other people anyway. Soo... anyone else already play or considering to?

I play it with two buddies (one mostly, but w/e). We just lost our ATV with tons of blood bags, morphine, food, etc. :(
He has a winchester atm, and I have an AKM (7.62 ftw). Lost an MK.48 and a CZ550 before but hey, that's just the way this game rolls :P

I'm missing operation arrowhead at the moment. Can't play. :(

Same here. I think the mod looks brilliant but I don't have the needed game :P

I'm actually using Tunngle to play pirated LAN based DayZ Servers at the moment. It's a bit complicated but you can play it free now. But sometimes they suck, I really need to buy the damn expansion on steam lol.

Just cough up the damn 25 bucks for Combined Operations. Then get Six Launcher and you're good to go with hundreds of servers to pick from.

The mod is still in Alpha though so don't expect a polished fine-tuned game at all.

It's a good concept, but the list of things I hate about it are endless, mainly because the creator is an overall dick, and his vision is far from what I think it should be. I wish I hadn't spent $30 to buy it. I recommend if you can play it for free, don't waste your money on it.

I hear you saying it sucks because it doesn't align with your personal preferences. To me, it's already been worth the money I spent on it.

Just had a pretty ace session. Had our whole group of 5 and quit with about 300 zombie kills, 2 M107 snipers, FN FAL, a machine gun and some other rifle. We're low on medical supplies though. Now that we're all geared for the next session, I'm sure we'll die 5 mins into it! :)

You just can't say that about a game in alpha! It is nowhere near finished - that might take years more. And if you think he's a dick because he has a different vision than you, doesn't that make you a dick for having a different vision too :P You can still play regular ArmA 2/OA with your purchase...

The most random thing just happened to me.

I entered a Dutch server (I'm Dutch) with a mate, hunting snipers near Elektro. All's well, we walk a bit, and then this guy (african american, military suit) comes up to me with a bike and asks me for directions to Elektro (in Dutch, and it was weird because it was right nextdoor) but we had a nice conversation and then he starts talking about my AKM, that it's not -that- powerful a gun. Then my mate starts shouting on skype because he's holding an AS50 in his hands all of the sudden. I was still flabbergasted and then I realise I have one as well! He spoke really neatly and behaved :P

All of the sudden we were both kitted out with AS50's, M4A1 silenced in a backpack and a BIKE! A friendly hacker :D

I won't tell all of it, but in the end we went back to him a few times, took a few trips with a Huey, had a bunch of fun!

Just wondering though is this DayZ related to War Z?

I believe not, WarZ is made by a different studio.

If it's big world zombie survival, I will play it.

Whenever I finally got a gun I either get shot or smacked to dead by zombie's :thumbdown:


But yea, it is fun, and arma2 has pretty good graphics.

Get inside a building, zombies walk slowly inside so you can easily pick them off

I kinda need help regarding this game.

Is it okay if I download a free Arma2 client and patch it with DayZ mod? Because I wanna play the Lan with some buddies.

Nope sorry. You need ArmA 2 Operatipn Arrowhead as well, and you can't play LAN afaik. It's worth the 25 bucks man

On top of that, ArmA2/OA on its own is a great game

There are some cracked servers, however. But I have no clue how to access them. Google will probably help.

Well my only option of getting a game is through buying it personally. And never I had bought something online.

And also its hard to look for a legit game shop here in our country.

Is there no way for you to get paypal and hook that up to your credit card/bank account

I've been looking for this kind of game for a while now. I only need to buy Operation Arrowhead and both Arma2 and the Dayz mod are free to download, right?

Buy Combined Operations which is ArmA2 and OA, then DayZ is free. Or wait for the first release of the DayZ standalone but god knows how long that's going to take :P (dayzgame.com)
