gamedbd fails to start.

ok, I've searched high and low, asked PsyTrac for help, and searched high and low again, and I still can't figure out what's wrong. I am using the 343 release with PsyTrac's 1.4.4.

The server was working fine. I made a change to gshop.data. Copied over the appropriate gshop.data and gshopsev.data files and rebooted the server.
After booting back up, gamedbd fails to load, and I have to manually start any maps. (Which is moot anyhow because gamedbd isn't working.)

Might this be the problem over gamedbd doesn't start?

I figure most of the following errors are stemming from this. Authd shows as working, but this is the first error from the log, and I think everything else that follows may be linked.

I've, of course, forgotten how to set/change the MySQL password, so I'm working on that to make sure it's correct.

The incorrect passphrase doesn't matter. If auth says its working then it probably is working. Check your other logs as well.

Was the gshop exxported correctly with good timestamps?

well Authd itself is up and running, but if it's not properly connected, then anything that's following behind looking for those links is going to fail, which is what I'm thinking is causing gamedbd to not start.

Yes, the gshop was exported properly with the right time stamps. I even tried moving the old files back in and it hasn't made any change. Personally I don't think changing gshop had anything to do with it. I'm thinking it might have been some other change in the system while it was running that didn't take effect until after it got rebooted, I just can't for the life of me figure out what that could be.

I really hate to blow it out and start fresh since PsyTrac and myself have put so much work into it so far. I'm positive it's just something stupid simple somewhere that got changed. I just got to narrow down what the hell it is. I've spent the past few hours combing through the files for setting or configuration errors. I'll take another look at some of the logs.

gamedb is corrupt (is my guess)

MOVE it (so that you have it "backed up") to a different directory and restart gamedbd (which will in turn create a brand new and blank DB). If that fixes it, your DB is fucked... If not than, well at least you kept a backup :wink:

Yeah, I've been considering that, but it was pretty much my "last ditch" effort. I can't find anything else wrong though so I'll give it a shot in a short bit. Good for me I take regular backups, so the impact won't be completely horrid. I just remember trying a restore once several months ago and could never seem to get MySQL and gamedbd to line up properly after the restore.

EDIT: Emptied gamedbd, rebooted and fired it up. syslog still looks exactly the same, and it didn't populate anything in gamedbd.

I'm having the same problem here.Thats sucks.

why don't you try to fix your game databases before remove it? the repair script should be on your server files
