Is there really any way to be free?
When you think about it, will you ever be a free man? Even though you're rich, and studied hard, at some point you're not really free.
The society we live in never gives us the opportunity to live your life like you don't give a shit, let's put it this way, if you're rich and have almost everything in your life, are you really free? I don't think so.
So my question to you all, is there any way to be a free man? (Not that I intend to be one)
Re: Is there really any way to be free?
Free? No
Land of the free? lolno
Fact: You are not free unless you drop whatever you're doing and kill yourself, afterwards you're free from the law, the rules, the work, the problems.
Why?
1. Despite America being called a Free Country, you are not allowed to do as you please (obviously). Well truth be told, you ARE allowed to do what you please, however there are set guidelines, law, and rules that bind you from doing certain things.
In this world, this is nothing called "Free". You as a human are never free. You will be tied to going to work, paying your taxes, going to work, paying your taxes and that's it. You will be used as a way for the government to live on and having total control over you. You don't want to pay your home taxes? Get your home taken away despite you paying off your mortgage. You don't want to pay for gas? You don't have to drive sir!
All in all, there is nothing called free until you die. A old chinese saying that goes 'There is no such thing as a free meal'. Which really means, nothing in life is free. Nothing all in all is free.
Re: Is there really any way to be free?
Yes you can be free, go live in the middle of nowhere, you will be free to do there what you want.
In the end, you don't want to be truly free, you don't want that people can just take your house because they feel like it, or rape your wife because she looked tasty enough. We want rules, it's that simple.
Re: Is there really any way to be free?
Free is the free coupons you get after buying some things from the supermarket by chance too ...

No they're not, how do you think they can give "free" coupons?
Re: Is there really any way to be free?
Feeling free is like being in Minecraft filled with griefers.
Re: Is there really any way to be free?
Re: Is there really any way to be free?
Don't be born in the US and move to a remote Jungle somewhere in a foreign country and live 'Off the Grid' :)
Re: Is there really any way to be free?
We're all born free. Its our decision to give in to systems/societies.
I moved from London to a village in North Cyprus and I can tell you, I live the life of a free man, by choice.

I don't understand your post one bit, and i bet neither do you.
What EXACTLY are you talking about when you say "being free"?
If you mean being able to do absolutely anything you want, then no, you absolutely can not, because at some point in time your "being free" will impede or disrupt someone else's "right" to "be free" and thus neither one of you are "being free". But as far as i know yes, having a huge amount of money can most determinately buy you anything in this world including the "illusion" of "being free".
If this is some hippy "ahh man the government controls everything you do, dude!" bullshit then you need to get your heat out of your ass. Yes they do control everything, because if they didn't human civilization as a whole would devolve 200 years overnight and we would go raping and pillaging and murdering and there would be absolute chaos. No sense of ownership, no order, no authority. But that's the way you want it, right? You want to "be free" and then cry when a horde of bandits raids your house and rape your family and steal your shit and wonder why there is no government to protect you?
Non-conformist post pubescent kids most definitely know what's up, if you guys hadn't opened our eyes we never would have realized that our nation is being indoctrinated by our all-seeing overlords! Oh thank you! :adore:
Re: Is there really any way to be free?
No. Listen, living "off-the-grid" or somewhere remote is not freedom. Where is your freedom to live where you want? What if what you really want is to live in a city where there are lots of people for you to kill, mame, injure, rape, torture etc. Some people would really like that. They are not free to do so.
What if all you want is to live among other people without the fear of being killed, mamed, raped, tortured etc. A lot of people would quite like that too. They still don't actually get it. :P:
What if what you want is to live out in the Amazon rain forest without the hastlel of other people at all. Guess what, here comes the deforestation crew and your freedom is screwed.
I've been accused, (on behalf of my nation, no less) of being Anarchist! Is that freedom? Not really, anarchy affords no protection from the people and things you want to be free of.
No. No-one can really be free. To take a biblical reference (either as myth or fact, but just a story we probably all know) Adam was not free to have companionship in Eden till God saw his grief and made Eve.
But you can fee free by not wanting anything other than your life provides you with. That's probably the biggest part of the "American Dream", and why apathy is so important to it.

Well that's your struggle then. Because I am free, and many others out there with insight are too.
Does that mean that I am able not to work a single day of my life and live on, or does that mean I am immune to other people's actions and influences? No. But that's not freedom, that's just life.
I think, having read posts on this thread, we all have VERY different ideas in our heads of what freedom is.
Re: Is there really any way to be free?
Freedom is a state of mind.
Re: Is there really any way to be free?
Not paying government bills = Freedom.
Re: Is there really any way to be free?
Watch My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.
I know.. I know how "trolly" it sounds.. in any way possible.
But.. you don't know how good you feel when you watch it.. it's that feeling you get when you touch nirvana, it's just..mind blowing for me..I never smoked marijuana or anything like it, to get high.. But I guess that's close to the feeling you have when you watch MLP..
It just makes my heart grow a lot and I feel so free and so releived..
If you don't know what MLP is..then..You still have time, check out the Intro here (IT pretty much sums up everything about the series.)
*LEAKED* My Little Pony Friendship is Magic Extended Introduction Sing-Along - YouTube
Good luck in finding nirvana, my friend.
//Also I got some t-shirts, cans and some bed "clothes" with MLP.. It just reminds me of the fun moments I have watching it.
And no homo ! The Navy Seals watch them too.
^ Try it..trust me, trust me .. You will not regret it.
And no, I'm not trolling -.-

Cities only exist because we are not truly free, so what you want is to be free in a society that only exists because we're not free. That just makes no sense.
Being free means you can do what you want, but so can others, you can take their house, but then someone else can take yours again.
Why do people want to live in cities? It's not to have absolute freedom, people that want more freedom, will go live in small towns etc because you will experience less restrictions.
Re: Is there really any way to be free?
Richard Branson is a prime example. He has money, companies and his own islands.. not to mention the amount of celebs stay there with him. He has a great time. He's free.

No one is free. Not even government, considering higher societies, that are above governments, exist.

Uhh yea, sure they can be. With enough money you can have absolutely anything you want in this world, there are people on this earth who are free to do whatever they want whenever they want wherever they want without consequence. But they don't. Just because they can do something but chose not to does not imply that they have lost that freedom.
Freedom is purely subjective. I want the freedom to drive at whatever speed i want, and pedophiles want the freedom to rape all the kids they can find. But eventually my freedom of speed will collide with someone's freedom to sleep in the middle of the road, and the pedo's freedom to rape kids will impede on the kid's freedom of not having a strange mans penis in their rectum. Like i said, if you give everyone freedom they will start ultimately start impeding on each others freedom and then rules and laws and governments will have to be formed which brings us right back to where we are.

It's not a struggle. I am aware of my freedoms, and my restrictions and, for the most part, I accept them. The times I don't are when I can see that a large proportion of people are unhappy with the freedoms afforded to us, or to others. At that point I join with them protest. Because I have a legal rite (or freedom) to do so.
Here's an example of a freedom no-longer afforded the richest man in the world. A slave of the Roman Empire was usually free to kill another man, provided he was prepared to pay that mans's owner for his cost, if the victim was also a slave.
Here's an example of a freedom most of us are not happy about. Banks are free to loose the money we loan them and charge us for that, while at the same time charging us for money they lone us, even if we use that loan responsibly.
I'll offer another. Companies holding Genetic Patents can take legal ownership of your neighbours crops if you buy their seed stock and it cross-pollinates with his crops while he had not entered into any contract with them.
More generally, the cost of freedom is responsibility. Each society decides what freedoms it wants to take responsibility for. The United States created a constitution to preserve certain freedoms for it's people against all future legislation, and there are many benefits to that. However, it also restricts their ability to quickly adapt their legislation should the population demand it. And even that is an implied "freedom from change" or "freedom of continuity across leadership" which nations like mine (with no written constitution) do not have.

I'm not usually a fan of ignorance, but that clip is clearly brain-rot. If you're going to watch stuff for the under 5s, I recommend Tellytubbies (also over saturated and mantra repeating, but at least it has some substance behind it) or Sesame Street.
