Auto Announcements Not Working
For some reason my auto announcements have stopped working and I can't figure out why. I did an update today on my server and I did update a few of my announcements but I tested these announcements on my test server to make sure they are all working.
Ive tried running the .sh file via putty and the announcements display as they should, they just wont run automatically. When I did do the update I did reboot the server, could that have effected the crontab? Maybe corrupted it or something? I've tried re-uploading all the jsp files again and chmod them to 777 but still no luck. I also tried re-uploading the crontab as well.
Short of rebooting the server again, is there anything else I can try to get them working?
Re: Auto Announcements Not Working
Rebooting didn't help either.
Edit: Just tried deleting the jsp files that I changed but the announcements still refuse to show themselves.
Well it's definitely not my .jsp files or the .sh files. I have a feeling it's something to do with my cron service, I've tried restarting my cron service which has had no effect on it at all. I even stopped it then started it again, same result. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Just check my system logs for ubuntu and cron has not been running since I rebooted my server. The service itself is running but it's not running crontab. Still trying to work out why. I assume from the lack of responses no one has ever had this error before. O.o
Re: Auto Announcements Not Working
Ok I managed to fix the problem with my crontab, I will post how just in case anyone else has a similar problem.
First of all stop the cron service by typing "service cron stop"
Second delete crontab, then start cron again by typing "service cron start"
Third, stop the cron service again, re-upload crontab, then start the cron service again.
This should solve the problem. At least it did for me.
