i think they are an easy way out, ppl who got no grades or anything do them types of jobs, just like the army (sorry if i offended anyone lol)Quote:

Not offended by it as such, but I think you are underestimating people's ability if you think that's an easy way out. I mean, I don't think I could do that sort of job -- for me that would be taking the hard route, much easier for me to get an office job and rely on academic ability. I have friends who are training to be plumbers, electricians, Brick-layers and I respect them for their determination and the hard work some of them put into it.Quote:

Anyway, my general goal is to work in the finance industry. At first I was looking into accountancy and the like; but more recently I've been looking into stock broking side of things and at present I'm looking more specifically Investment Banking. Investment bankers get payed shit loads of money regardless of how well you do, and some of the most successful get paid ridiculous amounts of money :D (Exactly How I Like it)
So.. for those that didn't bother to read all of the above... Investment Banker.
Well i am in my second year of Pure IT - Programming that concludes C#. C++. Visual Basic, HTML, PHP, and ASP.
Also Includes alot of other things.
I dont really know what im going to do after this, might be a Game Maker, Programm making or Network Expert, i dont really know i just wanna be rich ;)
I already could become a graphic designer or web-designer but realised last year that i didnt want to do that for the rest of my life.
Going to uni to do special effects this sunday soooooo my ultimate plan is to work for 'industrial light and magic' (lucas arts special effects company... best in the world) or maybe pixar animation etc. Final goal after doing that for a while would be to run my own special effects company.
It's not a matter of how much money you could earn in a particular industry. If i got paid over 100k a year to clear shit out sewers every day i wouldent do it! It's down to job satesfaction at the end of the day. Why else do people go to university and learn things that dont pay particularly well?
I love being a barman and will continue doing it part time for years to come. Who cares if on paper im far too over qualified to be one?
I was working in Press and as the seaman for few years but now im in Cities project uni so im gonna be an architect.
Idealy I would love to be on the radio and host my own show or be signed to a record lable and release my own RnB or HipHop mixed CD's like KISS do or Tim Westwood. All seems long winded so I am a successful salesman at the moment in a designer clothes shop. We sell Stone Island, Paul & Shark, Ralph Lauren, Evisu and Burberry etc. Looking to become a Sales Rep or a Car salesman after Ive gained some experience.
I kind of have 2 (or 3) choices atm of what I want to do:
1) Something in IT, although I have no fukin idea what area (Thinking of programming or web stuff)
2) An entirely different direction, in which I have no experience at all atm, is to start as a steward and travel the world (one of my dreams ;)) and hopefully to become a pilot one day, that would be awesome (Would be away from home often though, so not sure if this is a good idea in the future, even if it seems great at the time).
My biggest dream would be to go to outer space, but I can probably kiss that dream goodbye =/ (Outer space is awesome, if you dont look at the no-air and -200 degrees parts of it)
Guys, sorry if im to curious about this but why most of you choose computer stuff? i mean working with computer... it sounds pretty lame for me there is alot of another jobs more i mean really more important than computers and you should study for that maybe you will do something nice for people. I want to build homes for ppl, build something nice in my city so ppl can really enjoy it build supermarkets and stuff i think its really fun and entertaining job.
I want to win the lottery and then buy the moon and turn it into the death star
Form a heavy metal band :P
any job at-all u think of, u are helping people. and i would imagine that alot of people here (in coders paradise section in particular) are looking at computer-based jobs. also, if you are going to be a builder, i guarantee you that you will have to use computers for it. computers run everything these days. imagine if everyone was like you and throught working with computers was lame... then i doubt you would reading this cos you would have no computer, but instead u'd probably be making pictures on the walls of your cave with a rock.Quote:

i just got a pure backlash :(
no i wont need an computer for it i can do everything myself with my own hands and my own head: knowledge, talent, hard work. its not neccesary to make all the projects on computer i can just draw it with my own hands buildings, parks, roads, whole city. earlier people worked without computers that do half of the work for them, they invented things themselves like radio,television,cars... etc. So i really think i could do my job without computer aswell and i like something more i like cooperation i mean not sitting near computer, i mean cooperating with ppl and create something together with real ppl between. Its diffrent from cooperating online. But then again, about everything i said to you there is an exceptions, have a nice day =]Quote:

someone's job was to sit at a computer and design a car/bus and i'm sure u will use one of thoes to get to work. and just because you work with computers does not mean u have no interaction with human beings. and no, you will not be able to do everything "by hand" because you would get fired from your job. why? because you would be too slow to keep-up with the others who are using computers. everything is done by computers these days and i'm sure all builders use a CAD software to design the houses first. i know all this first-hand because my computing teacher used to be a builder (bringing-in the big bucks) but he used his expertese in using the CAD software from being a builder, to become a technical graphics teacher (also uses CAD sofware).Quote:

I ultimately want to work with either the European or US Space Program, however, I'd prefer the US route as their government pays better and I wouldn't have to learn another language :tp:
Other than physics, I have a qualification which allows me to teach weight training, which is now a hobby of mine. Personal trainers get quite a packet if they're considered good at their job, and that job would be real easy for me, because I do it for myself anyway. I'd just be adapting my own methods to other people.
computers are the future and will be a part of everything in life eventually someone could build a 3D model of a house perfectly in every detail and have some robots do the manual labour. but still i agree that hard work and dedication is the only way to move get succesfull and happiness tho having fun doesn't go amiss.Quote:
