AthionStory v1.16 - Lithium Updated Source!

Hello.

Basically, if you are doing anything, try your best to do it alone.

You may or may not have heard of the private server known as "AthionStory". You also may or may not have noticed certain servers that are sometimes one rank above Athion, or others in general, going offline for short periods of time, and conveniently come back online a few hours after Athion passed it.

Let me introduce us. Cuba, Mario, also known as dinkie here. Sinatra, Ian, or mrsaints, saintsian or whatever you would like to call him as. Athion, Blueberry. No clue RZ account. GreenSnail, Moogra or superlol. Phelps/Bolt, EvilSanta. And finally, me, RainbowDash, Jesse, whatever.

Let me also get one thing straight about myself. I quit MapleStory quite a while ago after having been screwed over once, and haven't looked back to it. Mario was doing a job for me and we have had quite a few deals gone well so I thought I had nothing to lose with him.

Let me also clear up a few misconceptions that if you are a player, at least one of you have asked at some point.

AthionStory was never undergoing "closed beta". It was labeled "closed beta" but with slot amount incremented each time it got under the value 10 or whatever, in the effort that new players might think their account is exclusive. The "nigger tactics" as per Mario. There would be a wipe and all like a normal beta, but the definition of "closed beta" is that spots are limited or invite only and for Athion this was not the case.

The other misconception, that Athion got to its rank because of quality. Sure Athion had *some* quality, but it was certainly not what got us the ranks. I have been making a stress test tool for a bit, and the way Athion reached its rank was because of what Mario called "strategic DDoSing". Basically, they used my tool, to "stress test" any competing servers with settings they knew would crash them. They knew the game was utter crap (and hell even had a huge argument over that) so they basically had to rely on using my tool for this purpose to get to where they are. I am not an active part of the PS scene so didn't really care what he used my tool for as long as he didn't DDoS any government websites.

Jay of ChickenMS, MypleStory, etc., and whatnot. You might know of these events. They lied right to your face and I have full chat logs to show you it.

So now, why the hell am I releasing this stuff? They were paying me 25%!

Before I start this next part, let me get something straight. I had never done anything to suggest that I might try to do anything against Mario. Actually, I was the nicest person to him and even offered to buy him upgrades for his computer for another deal that would probably have been more beneficial for himself than for me, but just because I was hoping he would be a good friend and help out a bit more in the future.

Let's also get a second part straight. We more or less knew that Athion was dead anyways. Server bills were due in literally 2 days and we had $0 in the bank. Mario had planned to buy a few $7 VPSes from ChicagoVPS. Well, to him, the best of luck hosting a gameserver on a $7 VPS. I had paid out of my own pocket all the hosting expenses up till then, with the promise that I would be paid back, for the grand total of $310. Athion would have never existed if not for this. Not only this, I've also spent several days trying to configure their server and firewall to their exact requests. Some changes I didn't quite agree with, but hell, whatever.

Well anyways, continuing on. Mario is a retard who thinks he's the dictator of everything. He decided to contact Dan for pretty much what can be seen as a game of bets of whether he could take EdenMS offline. (EdenMS recently installed a new firewall and the rest of the team wanted to see if this firewall was effective. Mario wanted to just have this bragging right.) Obviously I wasn't going to pay for his bragging rights (since this obviously takes quite a bit of bandwidth which isn't free) so I told him I'd only let him do a small test that would let him check if Eden's protection was indeed better than ours so he could set it up if needed. Well, this probably wouldn't have resulted in Eden's being offline (and hence him not having this bragging right), so he declined saying that my software could simply not take it offline.

Well, for reasons unknown Mario decided this was a good topic for argument and it eventually led to the conclusion that he just didn't want to pay me my cut.

The client which everyone says is special? All it is is a pretty looking interface that drops the public LEN files and starts MapleStory. Feel free to just screenshot it, cut out the parts, and use a PictureBox element and make your own version of it - that's what Rahul pretty much did except rather than screenshots he had a PSD!

Lithium based source so I couldn't imagine it being more than a few simple edits to the Lithium SQL. I won't release the SQL file because I don't want to screw over players.

Also. As a personal request. Please never donate to any private server because you're "supporting" the server. It's almost never for server costs.

But you did code for the server right? Also, why did you guys use Lithium as a base, and not Moongra v102?

Provide normal download by the way, else this is going to be closed.

I coded for their old source and did a few commits, not this one (before the forum). Also they didn't want to use MoongraMS v104, which sucked anyway. MoongraMS v88 was a lot better and they decided it was too far off. I stopped coding though because of lack of interest. Anyway, like I said a lot of this wasn't even true.

For those that don't know, iou = maplr = maplr4life = MMEntertainment. A lot of what he wrote is actually not true. He was the one behind the attacks, not me. He was actually planning to start a DDoS business (named Apocalypse, I designed it - http://puu.sh/kZd6, http://puu.sh/kZh5, http://puu.sh/kZhd, http://puu.sh/lh2I, http://puu.sh/qi4O, http://puu.sh/Nbu1) and introduce it to the MapleStory community so that he would "destroy" the servers. This was of course going to be funded by the "25%" he would get from AthionStory. The reason we had got him was so that he would take care of the servers and mitigate DDoS attacks. He did an awful job of mitigating DDoS attacks, was tremendously difficult to deal with, was constantly arguing with team members, and I seriously think he has some type of social disorder. After a misunderstood dispute, we decided to kick him out, and we even agreed to pay him his $310 later on, but he refused and went on this idiotic rampage.

By the way, he would constantly threaten other administrators with DDoS attacks to their personal computers. Also, if you anger him a little, he'll try to get your IP via Skype and try to attack you for the stupidest reasons.

My v104 was unstable due to some stupid stuff I added in which caused a memory leak. By v104 days I was already tired of development and didn't really care to remove and fix. I think you have the source though, and if you are curious where the leaks/deadlocks are, it was in my BaM system. It caused deadlocks. Another problem was in monster handling caused some memory leak, and this one I tried fixing too but I'm not sure it was fixed.

This is getting really really interesting. I thought except a few most of the pserver developers are douche. But once again, why maple community? if you really wanted to test the stress could have tried something else.

I don't really care what is true and what is not true. There is no way I can believe any of you without actual proof. Also, this is a release, not some sort of discussion.

P.S. There is no actual source in there, it's just a jar that I believe (I think) is obfuscated. The database information and other server variables are read from the jar itself, so this thread title is quite false and misleading. The reason for the heavy size that he uploaded is because it includes two extracted WZ folders (115 and 116).

Five himself wanted to see if you could take down the server, so that he could test his firewall and see if he could improve anything. It was in no way malicious. You are hard to work with because you take everything personally, you twist people's words, and you lie like there's no tomorrow. The entire staff hated you and wanted to get rid of you. You cost us so many mistakes and problems, and you acted so childishly about it. You would never take responsibility for your wrongdoings, instead, you would just make up excuses. Anyhow, I think I speak for the entire administration when I say that you should seriously take some sort of social disorder test.

Five: I am currently banned so dis nigguh posting for me. Jesse, I have no hardware on any of my firewalls. Every firewall I have setup is 100% software. Eden has no hardware, and when I told you to attack it you proceeded to do so and failed. 10 minutes later you say you didn't use all your resources because it would waste bandwidth, and then "make you broke". That's a load of bullshit for starters, and you can keep QQing that you aren't as good as me. You could never stop my DDOS because you have absolutely no knowledge in firewalls. I downloaded your iptables script, and its fucking shit. That won't do anything for you because the server is still loading it as I previously told you. Oh and look into other linux firewalls besides iptables, I can't say iptables is the best to be using. Why don't you stop raging, and just go back to fucking hackforums like the skid you are. Thanks.

Also loling that everyone blamed Sango for the DDos instead of Mario.

Ian isn't in, it was confirmed by their staff on IRC. Also, the web source files are not organized. It isn't his style.

the source sucks. you need a jar decompiler to view it. it's not obfuscated.

BTW I really don't understand how people can work with people they don't know (I mean serious work with lots of money), do it with people you know in real life or don't do it at all. (or do it alone I guess)

What's the difference between webs.tgz and web.tgz? They look exactly the same to me.
Also, most decent (ethical, so not SexyMS/Zakura) servers do use most of their donations for server costs. Once you accumulate 250+, I see nothing wrong with spending 5% to 10% of that.

I told you that I would send a 150k PPS test to your server which I did. I'm still not really sure why you think I'm limited to that power but whatever. I did whatever I was told and nothing more and nothing less. They said "Hey Jesse, we found these cool IPTables rules. Plz add them" and so I did. I gave them my idea at the very beginning (Hey, let's set up a LB/Reverse proxy solution to avoid DDoS) but Rahul had no clue how to work with the Load balancer, and even if he did Athion could never afford it (hell, we were still trying to look for how to get the money for next month's server rent).

Almost every successful (in regards to donations) server doesn't spend their $10K/month on a $10k or even $9/$9.5K server. They buy a $300 server at best and use the rest for personal purposes. In fact, when they were planning Athion, it was ONLY designed to make money - nobody in our group hell even played Maple actively much less knew any basic stuff much less care about the game. Extalia is the only example I have seen to date of a server not made for profit.

I didn't order an expensive server. I chose the cheapest one they offered that could host a gameserver without much lag, which was $175. Mario wanted me to get UDP/ICMP blocked so we got that upgrade for $50. That's all there is.

How was it my fault at all? They said they'd pay me back so I did so. I thought I could trust Mario since we've done prior business.
I released Rahul's, Ian's and Mario's work. They were the ones to take this action. If your work was included, I apologize for it but it's not like I could choose what parts of the gameserver that you worked on and take them out.

Yeah. Well, Mario chose to be an asshole by choosing to scam me. If I chose to be an asshole I'd find ways to screw with his personal life. All I'm doing now is trying to ensure he doesn't benefit from scamming me.

There are changes, also it benefits some players who play on netbooks and other shitty computers where they have 1gb or less ram.

v114 memory usage is about 600mb and v116 is 300mb.

They won't be able to pay you, they're barely affording basic servers as it is.
D) Before you try to bring up that my rules weren't able to protect AthionStory, keep in mind we've only been working on it for about 2 days, we were broke as it is (and so can't afford any type of reverse proxy, nor that Rahul could figure out how to modify the game server to handle one anyways), that, me having only protected standard website setups, having never set up protection for MapleStory (hell forgot that it existed for quite some while) AND that protection for a MapleStory server is much different than protection for something using a more standard protocol such as a webserver.

I think you assholes should stop DDoSing other servers. Not sure why you can't have a fair competition without ruining other servers for people who actually enjoy them. Go take your business schemes somewhere else because there are tons more ways to make money, e-peen boosts, or whatever the shit you seem to be looking for because it's obviously not for the fun of hosting a server you enjoy. What do you even get from DDoSing top servers? Temporary players who probably won't even donate, and just leave once their main server is back up? Awesome.

I'm not affiliated with any private server at all nor will be at any foreseeable point in the future. If I attack Mario's server it is because he scammed me, not because I care about the enjoyment of private servers.

Now, if Mario buys a tool such as mine or hires someone like me who has access to these types of tools, he is doing it for ranks and he openly admits to it.

I don't play MapleStory (heck didn't even know what a cube was until someone explained it to me) yet was one of the ex-administrators of Athion. I'm not sure how MapleStory servers work but as I was told the server gets the player's IP address from the packet's source header. That alone would have required modification to the source. (not mentioning how replies would work)

It's great if you figured out a way around that but I don't waaaaaaitt a second i said i wouldn't reply to you anymore.

Ask for the IP of his relay or webserver or whatever. Make sure it isn't Cloudflare (or some other commercial DDoS protection service). He wants you to test his protection, not Cloudflare's protection (which isn't hard to down anyways but isn't the purpose of the challenge).

I DDoS because I expect pay for it. Not because I care about MapleStory servers. If I DDoS Mario's servers it is because I don't want him earning money from it, not because I care about his server.

Also Mario, you still haven't really answered my question. You had everything to gain with Apocalypse so why the hell did you try to screw me over with it?
