finaly after about 2 months of dilly dallying and tinkering i finaly got my 1.4.4 server working and loged into to it on thursday. :D Big thanks to fgru's copy of 1.4.4 and a bunch of help from other people sending in questions they had :):

whats an xbox got to od with it ? Lol and i know the way to put gear and stuff is in elements and the Data files but i need to know how to edit them tyvm. oh and i wanna set the starting lvl at 1 not 100 -.-'
As for learning how to edit them, there's loads of tools out there for it that PsyTrac, 343, and many others have released/shared.
There is also an equal number of threads discussing the various tools, and there is no better way to learn anything than to do your research and start tinkering around with it on your own.
Make backups of everything, (double-redundant), and learn by playing around with it.
Also, as far as I know, the default starting level IS 1. If yours is not, then you'll need to edit your base character data, for which there IS a guide on how to do this hanging around out here. (With iweb, I believe, but don't quote me on it.)
Truly though, get the proper tools and start tinkering. Anything else is just mimicking someone else's work and is not a learning experience.
In all respect to ronny, I just packed the latest bin from the svn when I put out tools. I also provided BaSH's gshop editor, which in my opinion does a better job and is much easier to useQuote:
