What is difference VPS & VPS
EDIT: Difference between VPS and Webhost* Sorry
Hiya Ragezone, this is a stupid question maybe? But in the past i've had some MAJOR trouble with setting my hotels up to Webhost I've never used VPS. Probably should have used vps in the first place but was on short budget at that moment. ANYWAYS, I bought a Webhost 7$ Unlim. everything, and then it cancels the account a few days later (using copyright blah, blah) So i googled it and then i figured out that HostGator doesn't allow Retros, so i was like shit. Alright so then i went to HabboHosting or something like that, and then i buy yet again ANOTHER webhost, and then that still doesn't work. So by then i'm just about sick and tired.. Anyways, I'm pretty sure i'm confused about the difference between the two, i have bits of info but obviously not enough, i need to know how they both work, do you need them both to own a fast, reliable retro, or do you only need vps or do you only need webhost ETC.
Thanks, hope to learn a bit?
Re: What is difference VPS & VPS
A webhost is literally what it says on the tin. A host for websites.
Sql database, php pages etc.
You cannot run emulators or any .exe programs on a webhost, you can only upload, maintain and run your website.
In the habbo scene, you could use a webhost for your cms, but you would have to get remote sql off your host. This allows the emulator to connect. (An emulator won't connect to a webhost unless it has remote sql).
A vps is like a mini computer where yous etup your 'webhost'. For example IIS or xampp.
You can also run your emulator on this, along side or sperate from your site.
It is reccomended to get anoffshore VPS HOST(not webhost). Yes it is considerably more but you won't have to worry about copyright.

Thank you. Also, so this means i would need Webhost and VPS? So VPS EMU or any .exe program, and webhost CMS Based, PHP, HTML, etc? Well i just answered my own question, i guess but answer I need to dual these two together or you were talking about some offshore thing, which is the 2 combined I'm guessing? But please do let me know.
And thanks for the responses
Re: What is difference VPS & VPS
No you don't need both! Although it is still possible with both.
With a vps, you don't need a webhost. Unless you want the emulator hosted seperately.
(emulator=vps|home computer|webhost)
(cms=vps|home computer|webhost)
(both=vps|home computer|webhost)
Bold=possible

That truly made no sense, haha. You're saying earlier in first post that webhost is for CMS, and VPS is for .exe ei: EMU now you're saying that the Webhost now can hold .exe? Maybe i read it wrong. but that made no sense...
Re: What is difference VPS & VPS
Nope. Never once said webhost can take emulator.

Ahem, ok? Care to show a bit more elaboration here?
Re: What is difference VPS & VPS
a vps is a dedicated server thats been split up so you get all the perks of a dedicated server at a fraction of the cost. A webhost is simple a place for you to create a website.

See the bold font? that's what the emulator can be hosted on, as you can see, webhost is not in bold.
Understand?

Also, consider reading this tutorial:

If your considering buying a VPS you should check that first as it should stop you wasting your money :)

Re: What is difference VPS & VPS
I would just want to put this out there, hosting on both a VPS and a Webhost is helpful because webhosts are more secure, they also automatically block DDoS attacks. Just wanted to say :P
