Re: Best jobs for under 16?
Become a paper boy?
Not many jobs for ages of 14, most would be under the table.
-
Re: Best jobs for under 16?
Not sure if you could qualify for anything other than being a paper boy. Babysitting? Unlikely.

Re: Best jobs for under 16?
You should only worry about getting a job and earning money when you've gone through puberty.
-
Re: Best jobs for under 16?
You could make a scrap metal business and take the powerlines from the railway tracks.
-
Re: Best jobs for under 16?
The only real jobs you are going get is a paper round. Or you could create a website and pick a topic you like and do a website around that, you could make some money off that if your dedicated.
-
Re: Best jobs for under 16?
Thanks for the idea's, lol. I will just have to wait until the paper company give me a full time round...

Re: Best jobs for under 16?
Why do all young children think having a job is so marvellous? The gritting truth is, it’s not. There is no legal minimum wage for you, there is no union protection and to be honest you don’t pay tax either.
At 16 I got a job at Primark, I worked there for two years of my life and every day I felt the need to kill myself because it was so soul crushing, after the glitz and glamour wear off you realise that your stuck in a dead-end job that pays useless wages.
Your best bet? Forget about finding a serious job, you’re not mature enough for them just yet. Just get a paper round, and stay at school. You have years to grow up, and you’ll never get the most important ones back.

Re: Best jobs for under 16?
I don't think its marvelous , I just want some of my own money so I don't have to beg parents for money.

The money you do get is going to be so small that it won’t make sense for you to do it.
For example: At Primark I got paid £4.01 an hour for 2-years because I was under 18 (a friend who was 18 got £7.15 and done less than me). You don’t even have a minimum wage law to fall back-on because of your age, prepare to have potential employers take the piss out of you.
-
Re: Best jobs for under 16?
To be honest, I just need my own money it doesn't matter how big or small it is. Just some of my own money.

Re: Best jobs for under 16?
If you have a lawnmower, take it around your neighborhood or where ever and offer to mow grass at a decent price. Too bad winter is coming..

Re: Best jobs for under 16?
Instead of railway traks? You could take boiler systems from empty houses and sell them on for copper. I remember doing it once when i was 15, but the police came, and as stupid as we was we threw the boiler out of the front upstairs window.

Re: Best jobs for under 16?
If you just want money continue on your paper round.. Or go be one of them kids who go to church and get molested by a priest.

Re: Best jobs for under 16?
Lol dude you're only 14, you need to slow down and enjoy life before it really hits you and you have no choice but to work. You're still young, have all the fun you can and enjoy it while it lasts.

This is the truth. Value school while you can, although you say you hate it, you'll wish you'd never have left when you have to get a job.

Re: Best jobs for under 16?

I could be offered a job tomorrow that pays me £45K a year that’s 35-miles extra to commute, in the end the unfortunate truth is that it’s not cost effective for me to do. You have to weigh up your incomings, outgoings and costs of travels as well as unpaid time spent commuting. Money is becoming virtually worthless, the cost of living is astronomical and it’s only going to get worst.

I don't think it would get much business as I live in a coul-de-sac @Daedius
I never said I hate school, im not one of them who slag it off. I value my education, and I hope to have good results for a good job in life @Justin Bieber

Re: Best jobs for under 16?
Blind, blind guy.
Swallow your "pride" and get over it, parents are the ones that give you the money, you should let if flow by itself, don't get a job now.
Why ?
You'll lose time working for a shitjob, in that time you could learn about new things such as being a web developer/entrepreneur/business man/doctor/anything you like... Study something you like.
^ That will grant you a shitload of money in the future, after you've learned anything you could and practiced a lot, 'course it all takes a specific mindset, being those things (Succesfully speaking) is really a great achievement (Doctors get paid a shitton of money - judging by the UK/US standards - not to count what they get from the people, haha.)
There are always opportunities, just use time wisely.
A wise guy once told me that "the more money you have, the more time you have". Just learn to do something great and train hard for it, rewards come along.
Don't waste your time unconsicously.
Or just start selling drugs.
Or..become a Pimp.

I don't think he should be doing that at his age either. I'm also sure that he wouldn't want to be seen by his friends busking/begging for money, would you?

Re: Best jobs for under 16?
idk bout you, but here we got min wage for under 18, for litteraly every age after 14.
im getting around 5$ an hour, on my nib job.
i dont do much but i guess its worth my time. i also got a gf cus of the job so, call me lucky. i suggest looking for small weird places[not too weird or creepy] that are in a need of workers.
Its really not so bad to work at your age, aslong as you dont overdo it.

Re: Best jobs for under 16?
The minimum wage here in Canada is $10.15. You can work anywhere that you dont have to lift or do labour, like McDonalds or any other fast-food restaurant. I'm not sure for anything else.
If that doesn't help, collect copper and different metals. It may not seem much, but when people have their heavy garbage out, you could be looking at $250 at the end of the day. It adds up.

Re: Best jobs for under 16?
Code a Minecraft plugin and release it to the Minecraft Forums with an ******* link, make sure it's good. Or do something like that :]
Unless you don't code. Then I don't know.

Re: Best jobs for under 16?
I used to work for some place that hosts parties/ balls/ galas etc. I'd be there usually to aid the bar people with getting materials they need once they run out.
Not bad for working 2 days a week and making $390 a month considering I'm still in school. Just extra $$ in my pocket for when I graduate

Re: Best jobs for under 16?
I'm not entirely sure the legal working age in your country is, but when I was 14 my first job was a cashier at TacoTime (Canadian Taco-Bell) Earning a nice minimum wage. So do not expect to become rich working where you are and the age you are at.

I wouldn't be too sure about the last bit. There's been many teenage entrepreneurs that have came from nothing, Richard Branson is one, he started at age of 16 creating his own magazine called 'Student' which was a success, from that to now you'll see he's highly successful.

Re: Best jobs for under 16?
You can work from 13 in the UK, all you can do is what the government classes as light work which doesn't affect your health, safety or education like a paper round or working in a corner shop for a few hours a week.

Re: Best jobs for under 16?
Just read what I said.
Time is the most valuable thing you have and therefore you must wisely use it.
Really, how hard is it to figure out ?
If you work now, you'll lose the time in which you could've practiced for a job or self-development.. Which would grant you a better future.
Work now, lose time and live with a shitty job that's averagely paid..
Think about it mate, after all..
Who am I? If you don't believe me ( I believe I'll be pretty damn succesful in life, I am right now.. and no, I am not a guy that loves himself a lot, just a fact.) just read some John C. Maxwell articles/books, he briefly explains those things.
But, in fact, pick any succesful guy you know and let him be your example...
Good luck.

Last I checked on my receipt it said GST: %9, PST% 6. :Derp:, Same thing when I was 13, 12, 10...

You’re in Canada, I’m in the United Kingdom… Your laws are not my laws.

Re: Best jobs for under 16?
I'd suggest you focus more on school than getting a job.
When you finish school and head to college is the ideal time to look for a part time job as EMA has now been scraped, when I was 14 the last thing I was worried about was money and job.
When you hit 16 - 18 look for a job in a local supermarket, start working part time then once you've finished college you'll most likely be given a full time position at said supermarket. Sainsbury's are great to work for if you ask me.

Most Supermarkets are now very hesitant to hire anyone under the age of 18 full-time and out of the Christmas trading months due to licensing laws, whilst working there you’ll only be able to stack shelf’s and deal with stock. You won’t be allowed to work on a checkout, kiosk or customer services due to the possibility of alcohol being sold.

I just turned 16 today, I've got my national insurance number and I'm also looking for a job, I have no idea where I could find a job that pays good money.

Basically you want to be looking in stores like Primark, McDonalds, and other stores similar to that. They tend to take on a lot of 16 year-olds around this time of year (school leaving). You might have a better chance working somewhere like that next year though if you apply as soon as you leave school.

Re: Best jobs for under 16?
I don't really know how it works in the UK (Since I'm from Holland), but maybe you could try to get a job in a local food market or store? You might learn some useful things there and, ofcourse, you'll get some money for it. Idk about any "age limits", but that's what I would do..

There's no point commenting if you don't know...
