Quest issues
I have searched the forum and have not yet solutioned these issues and hope someone is kind enough to share some suggestions:
1) When adding new quests that require quest drops, the drops never drop. Item tab in iQuest has valid drop and has been confirmed accurate in ItemInfo & ItemInfoserver (server side) and ItemInfo and ItemViewInfo (client side). Various values have been tried in the drop rate columns in ItemInfoserver with no luck.
2) Attempts to make a new quest series, such as XYZ Quests1-7, intended to require the previous quest to be completed before the next can be accepted, results in all of the series being available at the same time as the first. I have used Land of Trials 1 -6 as a model and believe my start, action, and finish scripts to be correct. The preQuest field also confirmed accurate. Same applies for the dialogs.
3)A basic overview/explination of the unc Data section in iQuest would be wonderfull and greatly appreciated. Is it possible that this may be the source of my issues ?
Thanks in advance and best regards to all

Re: Quest issues
you state the issues your having but never explain the scripting you are doing and what you are using for the addition of the quests. If people don't know what your using or how your doing it how can they help you? In the end someone could learn from your questions and examples.

Re: Quest issues
Try adding the quest drop to ... da bada da! itemdroptable.txt
Theres where you are going wrong with the drops, also you need to set up drop groups for those drops in itemdropgroup.txt if not already done so.
Both those text files are in your World folder.
Make sure you are using iQuest in its original folder and using your own mobinfo and iteminfo and questdata + dialog in there as well, not sure if you have to do this, but it never saves unless I do it this way so try that for adding new quests.
Never really looked into the iQuest unc data box, so no idea.

Re: Quest issues
Thanks for the replies,
@Lugapha, my apolagies, in my original post I described the use of iQuest, the items tab and the use of the start, action, and finish scripts. Also that I am using a known working quest as a model (Land of Trials).. Again my apolagies, i should have been more clear.
My new quests are exactly the same as the Land of Trials series in every regard with the exception of the quest numbers, Title and descussion IDs, lvl limits, starting NPC, & prequest (which are set accordingly to the new quest numbers). The start, action and finish scripts are exactly the same with the exception of the dialog numbers and linkto numbers, which are set to the those associated with the new quests. Items, mobs and rewards have also been adjusted accordingly. The dialogs are exact coppies of the land of Trials series with only the wording adjusted to fit the new quests. The bottom line is that each individual quest in this series performs and functions perfectly other than they are ALL available to accept at once and do not require the previous quest to be completed first.
@ Kyonshi & Lugapha
I am using iQuest to perform all my work on quests. I have a copy of iQuest , mobinfo, iteminfo, questdata, and questdialog all in the same folder on my desktop and then copy edits to proper location(s). I use v1 of the shn editor for all dialog work. Unless I am mistaken, which is entirely possible, other than a small number of quest items such as mushrooms, wood, sap, etc., quest items are not assigned to a drop groop and not added to a drop table. If so, they would drop for routine kills and not just for someone having a quest for that item.
However, for testing purposes, I did temporarily put these items in the drop table just to see if they would drop at all, and did in fact see the drops. Of course, when I put a different character up against the same mob, it also got the drops dispite the fact it didnt have the quest.
Again, thank much to you both, further suggestions would be greatly apreciated

Re: Quest issues
Thanks again for replying Kyonshi,
I very well may be mistaken, at this point after stumbling over this for hours, it is quite likely that i am lol
When looking at quest drops in itemInfoserver, most are not assigned to a drop group (other than a few as mentioned above). when looking at item dropgroup and item drop table, the same applies, I just simply dont see them there. i can only conclude that the quest drops result from questdata and can be set by using iQuest. if i am wrong, someone give me a slap on the back of my head and show me the error in my thinking.
I have repaired a god number of "broken" quests in the file set i started out with. I have also added a good number of new quests, whiuch function wonderfully as long as they dont require drops and they are not series/sequential quests, like Land of Trials, Trumpy Remains, etc.
however it is an oportunity to learn and learning is fun :)
best regards

Re: Quest issues
Adding quest drops cant be done atm
No one has figured it out.
I myself think that quest drops are done thru the quest file, its just a mater of making an editor that can read that part of the quest file
What you can do, like Kyonshi suggested is to add them as normal drops
Might be annoying for players trying to just grind instead of question and having all these quests drops drooping when they dont even have the quest, but it works

Re: Quest issues

Re: Quest issues
Thanks much for the response Muno,
Yea , as I mentioned above, as a part of mt testing/experimenting, I had put the items in the droptables/groups and was able to get drops. This of course was not a solution to the problem, but based on your input, the problem was not on my end....Thanks much. :)
Any suggestions on the issue of "series/sequential' quests that i described above ? Your in thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated.
Best Regards

Re: Quest issues
Update to the "series" issue:
After recieving a few private messages that asked if I had found a solution, and requesting that if/when I did, to share, so they could enjoy the same, I decided to follow up a bit.
When using iQuest to make new quests, it seems the "preQuest" feature does not work as expected. Thus, creating series or sequential quests using this feature, results in symptoms as described above. I have found a work arround. It is exactly that, and not the perfect solution.
In the quest dialogs associated with the quests, do not use the "[MENU]" statement typically found in two of the dialogs. In doing this you wil not see the "Quest List" button and there fore not be able to accept all the quests at once.
It should be noted that in doing so, you will not be able to see any other menu functions typically available on many NPC's such as Stone Merchants, Blacksmiths, item Merchants, etc. Also you wil not be able to see/accept any other quests that may be meant to be accepted. I would suggest using a non merchant type of NPC and one that has no other quests (other than the series quest you are working with).
Best regards
