Body language.

Well, I do not feel the need to spoonfeed you the meaning of body language, assuming everyone already knows what it is.

Anyway, it is very interesting, I've read a whole article about it (bigass one though : link), and I must say, it was very entertaining and I was wired in the whole time.

If you have some time to kill and want to learn something essential in life, the art of controlling the signals you send to people, and a way to somehow read someone's specific behavior, I invite you to read the article.

Don't you dare abuse Tyler's beautiful face.. by God, if you do.. I'll show you a certain type of my body language. Jokes. I've studied this in my psychology class, it's such an intriguing topic. I mean, if you perfect this skill, you can tell someone's exact mood and interest in the topic they're attaining to. It's so fascinating.

Yeah body language and the psychology of physical interaction between two different people is pretty fascinating.

Knowing what the other person is actually subconsciously thinking/feeling with body language is a huge advantage.

I personally use a technique when sitting with someone I like. Works very well. For the life of me I can't remember what it's called right now, but basically the more two bodies touch the more they become in sync. The more they become in sync the more comfortable that other body is with your body, which leads to feelings/more touching. (mind you this is all subconscious and you have to be super carful about invading their space if they start pushing away)

It's as simple as sitting at a bar, turning toward them and barely touching knees. Not going to get more in-depth in the fear of sounding super creepy, but just read up. It truly is fascinating how bodies react to each other.

This is why we have giant orgies at the RaGEPARTIES, so that everyone feels comfortable and all with sleeping in 1 room. It has absolutely nothing to do with the pleasure we get from bumming each other!

But yeah it's essential. The simple fact is that most emotions are not expressed through speech or writing, but through body language and tone of their voice.
In my work I obviously use it constantly, in general people know enough about body language to show me what they want to show (if you know them well it gets harder for them), but once you ask them a direct question, that's when you will be shown the truth everytime, because no matter how they answer it, the body will show the emotion that tells you what you want to know.
In general you don't want to constantly shock people like that, people like to have control of their emotion and want to tell you things in their own way, so it's better to just ask questions, they are usually receptive to that and will tell on their own pace. But if someone gives you nothing, shocking them with a direct question works great, I've never met anyone that is able to dodge that.

Hmm, when I was at school we had to pick lessons to do and around ten of us chose Sociology. We learned all about body language and how it can be used as an advantage, especially in a law suit or interrogating. It's great, body language can tell you so many things about the person, and can be used as a way to tell if a person is lying. Body Language experts have been at inquests and appeals for years, I find it intriguing because of the amount of evidence they can actually collect from a persons behaviour. It's like the Shannon Matthews case (UK), body language experts were at her appeal as she claimed her daughter had been kidnapped and she cried and put on her best efforts just to try and get a shit load of money -- Didn't work out for her. The experts noticed that her behaviour was unrealistic, not exactly "No they don't do that" but rather "Look at the clues, it's apparent that she's faking". It's incredibly fascinating to hear about and understand and the amount of people caught out from lying is brilliant.

This is something I have always been interested in since I can remember. I use it all the time in my coaching.

Why did you link to that trash website? If they reference any actual psychological studies, link those instead. If they don't, or instead reference opinion pieces, blog posts, or news posts, nobody cares. Everyone can claim a gesture means something and quote headlines (which are often completely antithetical to the point presented in the article), one needs a lot more evidence to state it as a matter of fact.

Well, they do link a lot of books written by legit people, and they explain it all in details :

Don't worry, he's on his period and would rather complain about what he thinks should have been done instead of doing it. Probably got more ass zits than usual or something.

There's some truly useful stuff in it that's good to know about even if you don't plan on taking advantage of it consciously and the basic stuff like just ridding yourself of mistakes like crossing your arms when you should appear open could make a difference in a situation. In particular parts of the linked page resonated well with what I've been reading about pick up art lately... so... why do each of you want to learn about body language? You might as well read a book on the specific topic and then check which individual points on the page apply. :) I feel the list alone doesn't do much good without context.

I love topics like these, very very fascinating. I've learned to analyze and 'read like a book' people that I interact with. It literally saved my life about a year ago, if I hadn't had a strong feeling that something was going to go wrong I probably would be in a grave right now and the person who shall remain nameless of-course would probably be roaming the streets freely looking for his next victim.

I took an 'advanced' psychology class at my old high-school. I say 'advanced' because it wasn't the study of general human psychology that would encompass everybody, but rather certain aspects highlighted and concentrated on. It was an extra-curricular activity to learn how humans plan and act on things they have either stored in their subconscious memory or active in their thought process. It mainly focused on keywords and eye contact, such as trains of thought or words that try to evoke fear, paranoia, schizophrenia or basic negative emotions in someone, or in the case of eye contact, how often the person blinks, their patterns of eye movement as-well as how long they are in contact with your eyes.

After I finished that class and was finished with high-school (that was in my last year when I learned all of that) I really wanted to learn more, as with most things I do like this. So I decided to go to the library and look at some human psychology books, there was some information there that was useful for general psychology but nothing specific that I was looking for so I turned to the wonderful internet. I read a lot of articles and thesis' on human psychology through physical recognition, mental (or psychological) recognition as-well as emotional recognition (could be labeled same as psychological recognition) These were the 3 main subjects of focus when trying to 'decode' somebody.

Physical recognition would obviously be body language. Mental or psychological recognition would be speech patterns, choice of words, general attitude the person is trying to convey, or common manipulative tricks that intertwine with emotional recognition. Emotional recognition is perhaps the key recognition here. It's fairly easy to suppress physical and mental signals of recognition but unless you can completely block your emotions it is hard or nearly impossible to mask your emotional signals of recognition because it registers on a level such as your sub-conscious that you have little to no control over.

I gotta tell you, if you have the time or even if you don't have the time you should still make it a goal to do some reading on this kinda stuff. I think it would fall under human psychology for the most part but the certain aspects that vary heavily would be something different in terms of specifics. It can be very very useful and possibly save your life/physical well-being.
