GTA 5 'could outsell Call of Duty'
Hello,
Quote:
Analysts have predicted that Grand Theft Auto 5 could sell over 18 million copies, which would knock Call of Duty off of the top spot on the charts.
Sources estimate that development costs for the game will total around $137.5 million. That's taking into account a 250-strong development team working over five years. It is also estimated a marketing spend of between $69 million and $109.3 million.
The game could sell anywhere between 16 million and 25 million, generating profit from $193.6 million to $390.8 million.
It is said that GTA 5 could also give Activision's Call of Duty a run for it's money on the top of the charts. Which we all know full and well that Call of Duty normally has annual chart dominance.
I think, GTA 5 will beat Call of Duty easily in the charts.
What is your opinion?

About time. Although I like Call of Duty, I know and feel it's overrated so it'd be good to see it out of the top selling charts.

Agree with you definitely as GTA is an all-time favourite for mostly every console user.

Re: GTA 5 'could outsell Call of Duty'
I can honestely say I have never played any version of GTA on a console. The very first GTA I played was GTA 3, on my old windows 2k pc I had access to. I still occasionaly play GTA-SA, but only because I have access to an online version of it (SA-MP).. which is something, I think, if well made, would really be a very amazing thing to create. Still, if GTA V comes out correctly, we're seeing the rise of a game that will take several, several, several hours to complete..

Re: GTA 5 'could outsell Call of Duty'
I really like call of duty. They have really cool games for different gaming systems.
But Grand Theft Auto is sold on more systems, and has a really good reputation and theme.
I think that they will outsell.
I have GTA:Vicecity on my PC.
and GTA 3 on my Samsung Galaxy s2

Re: GTA 5 'could outsell Call of Duty'
I don't have much of a doubt that GTA will outsell COD. I believe that a wider majority of individuals like GTA rather than COD, when it comes to choosing one or the other, I'd have to say that GTA would win.
Although I'm a codfag myself, GTA is just too enjoyable to be hated...

Not until Call of Duty gets another sequel.

GTA IV was on PC and GTA San Andreas is on PC so this more than likely will.

Re: GTA 5 'could outsell Call of Duty'
I remember that you can download from the app stores GTA III for the mobile. And that is exactly the same as you play it on the Playstation 2 so that's pretty nice. It was made by Germans i guess the app for the Android users.

Re: GTA 5 'could outsell Call of Duty'
The fan base of GTA is probably twice as CoD tbh so there is no comparison.

Re: GTA 5 'could outsell Call of Duty'
I have no doubt of it. The recent 7 month delay made people want it even more, including me.

This is the biggest problem with large companies. Instead of spending it all on development, they spend almost half of the budget on bloody advertising. Advertising adds nothing for the player, and I'd question if it's necessary for most big games anyway. Who hasn't heard of GTA before? Or CoD etc. Personally the more something is advertised, the less I want it. If it was any good it wouldn't need to be pushed into everyone's face. Just look at faster than light! Amazing game, most people have it, the only advertising it needed was for people to stream themselves playing it and I guess kickstarter.

Without a doubt GTA 5 will outsell CoD, in my opinion.

Re: GTA 5 'could outsell Call of Duty'
GTA IV was disappointing, I've been a huge fan of the series, but GTA IV simply did not do it for me. Each time GTA expanded a little, now I'm not saying every change was an improvement, but stripping GTA IV from all customization etc was a bad choice.
I'm not looking for body weight shit, or picking up whores (although they did leave that in GTA IV...), but car customization, the buying of property and weapon proficiency were all welcome additions to the game. IMO they should have expanded it with the ability to customize properties, you know with larger garages, helicopter platforms etc - depending of course on the property and it's location, renting out shops and having to pay a visit when the people who rent it are late on payments (of course you could let it slide so that you don't have to do anything about it) etc. Of course upgrading buildings or building new ones should be among the options, basically turn a bad neighbourhood in to something nice by rebuilding it.
Not all of it needs to be done, but the way GTA IV did it, was just not satisfying in any kind of way.

Re: GTA 5 'could outsell Call of Duty'
Hopefully it does, that terrible game doesn't deserve top spot. GTA 5 FTW!

Re: GTA 5 'could outsell Call of Duty'
I feel that COD has just gone to far. The hype of it has started to die down a bit. GTA has always been a huge part of the gaming world, and its come back will launch well as they havent released a game every 3 years...

Re: GTA 5 'could outsell Call of Duty'
Yeah, Call of Duty is released each year whilst GTA is out every few years. Call of Duty will get a shit load every year and then GTA comes out and makes double that in the first day of release.

Call of Duty should have some sort of break for a few years to try and and develop a more different feel to call of duty because every single year its the same old crap as usual. This is why the sales for Call of Duty are going down every year and Grand Theft Auto's sales are increasing every time its released because they develop over a couple of years instead of one year which makes the idea and storyline a lot better.

They wont do that though. Although GTA has a break for a few years while getting developed, people still want it. I doubt that'd be the case with Call of Duty. Once Call of Duty take a break for a few years more will end up going on other games, probably even GTA V, then when Call of Duty makes a return nobody will bother.

Yeah i know :)
but Xbox PS3 and PC are the most popular gaming systems, so it's probably good enough.

Re: GTA 5 'could outsell Call of Duty'
The sales of GTA will totally destroy the sales of CoD, GTA has a a wider more mature fanbase where as CoD has a fanbase that consists primarily of teenagers. Fans of free roam gaming will be all over this due to it's massive size and amount of content. I can't wait for the release to come, this game will be GREAT!
