Blizzard's Latest Game - F2P Card Game.. (Hearthstone Heroes of Warcraft)
Uh, Blizzard revealed their latest game. It's Free-to-Play, but is a god darn card game. Oh and, you can check the trailer out-

Card games are just.. bleugh. In Hearthstone Heroes of Warcraft you can play as a class from World of Warcraft, which is nice I guess? I read up that the system is going to have 300 cards at launch, and additional packs can be purchased. The cards are also going to have the same rarity system as WoW's loot. (Common, uncommon, rare, epic, legendary, artifact etc).
But still.. a card game. ._. Any thoughts on this or the trailer above? Especially those World of Warcraft players.

Not sure where you got the MOBA bit from?
FAQ - Hearthstone
More info there.
I like the general idea, I just hate micro transactions. I hate competitive games which let the player pay to win, I just don't think it's fair or actually interesting for game play. But I'm sure Blizz will make millions on it because there are enough kids who will spend their money on it, same as every other collectable card game.
Pretty blatant a cash grab imo.

Rofl, my bad. I didn't even realize I'd put that. Of course it's not a freaking MOBA game. That aside, I agree entirely. Kids just love the idea of collecting cards, I just hope this doesn't turn into something such as Pokémon.

Trailer looks good, but the game style gave me cancer.

Reminded more me of Yu Gi Oh tbh, collect cards to summon monsters to fight opponent in a 3D world. Give it a few years, if holograph tech is created I can see people playing it like that IRL.
I know I need to stay away from card collecting games. Last time I got addicted to a card game it was pokemon, and I still have the full collection. Mint condition Charizard, yo! I just know this game will cost a ridiculous amount of money, and anyone who plays it is being a fool. It's even worse with a digital game because that content isn't really real, you can't buy say 1 of only x many of that card made, they have an unlimited number of every card. But then I'm not sure value should come from limited number of prints either tbh, it's all bullshit really. It's all marketing, make a few one some cards increases demand which further drives your sales.

Card games are a money hole. Just keep chucking fistfuls of cash in till you're the best.
I never played Pokemon but collected the cards, i just recently replaced all of the sleeves for my pokemon file with 100+ holos, was surprised that despite the condition of the old sleeves (covered in ash, dirt, dust & even rodent feces from storage) my Japanese holos were still in mint condition so that was cool. Hopefully they'll be worth something someday lol, something i'd want to hold on to for quite a while.
Recently got stuck in Magic the gathering, i would hate to think of how much me & my mates have spent on cards but some individual cards are worth quite a bit so overall i think i'm breaking even as far as resell value goes. Several cards can easily go for $20-50 each and we're not even talking about old cards from the original sets - those go for thousands. These are just current cards which are in such high demand with low print quantities so they're just worth ridiculous amounts for pieces of cardboard. I can easily price each of my 4 decks at a minimum of $150 resale value each just from the market value of a few singles inside them.
But take this virtual card game, and although people may be paying money & purchasing certain cards from blizzard they aren't going to be able to resell them. Sure you could sell your battle.net account on a site like playerauctions but you're not going to get nearly what the cards are actually "worth" because unlike physical cards they won't appreciate with time. They will be depreciating and as the years go by the cards will be worth less and less because they are not tangible items. Much like how you can have 1,000 games on Steam, but it will be worth but a fraction of what actual physical copies of those 1,000 games would be worth.

MTG is even worse when cards cycle out of standard. Sure some you can use in modern/legacy etc, but most just fall flat on their face. I just don't like artificial value being put on stuff frankly, depreciation is fine if it's a static formula.
But yeah, infinite supply, limited demand, any digital media is flawed when you try to place value upon it.

Lmao, I agree once again. It's just the idea of having cards of rarity, and this being a digital card game, you know your collection or as they say "deck" is safe.
