I don't know how many of you have played the original, but it is absolutely amazing. Me and my friends still spend hours and hours playing it. Steam is releasing it in HD with server support and we have been talking about getting some competitive series out there and wanted to know how many people would actually be interested in competing in a competitive competition in AoE?
If so, are you getting the new HD version and if so, what is your Steam name?
I'm getting it for certain, I loved this game.

As awesome as AoE II was, couldn't they have updated the animations to be a lil smoother with the transistion to HD? :o
No matter how much I loved this game, I'm not going to pay I believe 30$ just for some HD textures.. If it were like 7$, max 10$ I would have considered it because it is just such a great game. However, 30$ is just a rip-off.
Actually the total value of it is currently $17.99 and it includes so much more than HD textures. It has multi-monitor support, Steam workshop support, HD resolution support, and best of all it has Steam server support for online matches. Definitely worth it in my book.Quote:

Protip... add -dxlevel80 to your launch options. It will prevent the low FPS issue many people are having with it.

More fixes:
AoK HD.exe -> Properties -> Compatibility
check "Disable visual themes" and "Disable desktop composition"
Both have proven to fix the low FPS issue.
Trust me, you'll want to do this. It's a drag playing an old game like this < 20FPS :P Even the most beast rigs have this issue atm

I didn't buy it for new graphics but for renewed multiplayer but their shitty early bugs killed it off. If I could get a refund I would, it still over heats and crashed my pc lol!

For a devout follower of the game...I would say yes buy it. But if you are looking for the game you love with better graphics (as stated in the "HD Edition") I would say no...it really looks the same to me....multi-player is fun but gets old fast.
