TopRetros is an all new Topsite, locked with a sexy template, and a custom coded script. With the site just being coded within recent weeks, you may notice a lot of bugs, but this will change as our development team will continue to correct our own mistakes. There will also be a lot more features to come, just comment below on what features you would like added.


What is different about TopRetros?
Most top-sites base there script on AardvarkPHP. As for TopRetros, we are currently using our own script, along with our own API. This will allow us more flexibility to enhance our site, and along with producing more custom features in the future. In order to vote on TopRetros you have to change your Redirect URL in your Account Settings. The URL to your vote page would be...

Votes are based on a 10 day period, the information is kept within the database, and every vote counts as one tenth of a point towards your 10 day average. Daniel and myself decided to do this 10 day voting because it allows more flexibility between the top user changing every 10 days. It can be kind of boring having the same '#1' retro every week.


Why should I use TopRetros for my retro?
We expect to have a growing community within the upcoming weeks, and want to move away from other Topsites who have not lived up to their expectations. TopRetros will be hiring moderators to moderator the Topsite to stop boosting, breaking of terms of service, and other important measures to maintain a high level of performance.


To conclude, TopRetros is my gift towards the retro community. I have worked my tail off developing this site just for the retro community because I simply got frustrated with another topsite. I want to thank everyone who has helped me with the project such as (Daniel, Joh, Tyler, Makarov, and etc.) If you guys find any bugs within the site or have any recommendations please let me know and I will take note of your request. Love the theme of the site, really appropriate to the retro community. Just registered my site, one thing though do you only vote once per 10 days?

Appreciate it, and daily votes reset and allow you to vote once per IP Address every 24 hours. Hopefully that clarifies that up a bit, should of perhaps quoted that in my thread. Sorry :/:

That's great! Just keep 100% uptime, keep cheaters off and don't put pornographic ads all over the API and you'll have all TheHabbos users in no time.

I am completely dedicated to this topsite. 100% uptime is our goal, though nothing is 100% we will make sure to supply the best support to the Topsite.

I'm glad we both came up with this idea and hopefully it knocks out TheHabbos. Unlike them, we will be maintaining and updating Habjoy periodically and making sure people aren't cheating their votes and what not. :)

I like the design but I don't like the name. Since its a ex-hotel name I think it just seems to hotel like and cheap. A new name more directed at a topsite would be nicer.

I also don't like the fact you are advertising a hotel in the footer. While this may not be a big deal I believe that all topsites should be mutual playing fields not sponsored by any certain hotel. I could see this easily being used to promote your hotel or hotels of your choice in future instead of being a fair even topsite.

I suggest a name change and getting rid of the link to wabbo. While small and not noticeable it makes me feel that in future you could boost your own votes because its your hotel or be un-fair.

Name Change
Personally, I have the money and all to go ahead and purchase a dedicated domain, but I have a line to go ahead and go with the 'joy' domain that will be later revealed. I like the name, and undoubtedly you are correct, the topsite name may be more hotel like (only because I had a past hotel with the name), but only because of the past may it seem hotel-like. Rid of the past, it is a nice topsite name (in my opinion.)

Boosting my hotel
It may be hard to believe, but this has nothing to do with Wabbo. I based some of the design on Wabbo's template, but HabJoy is HabJoy. I am total against boosting and never have thought to boost my hotel. I am doing this along with other people who have retros, and the entire purpose of me creating this topsite was to remove the bad habits of TheHabbos.

Conclusion
My focus is completely on the HabJoy topsite, and if that means I have to withdraw my status as Wabbo owner, I am down for that. I am not a quitter, but I want to do what is right for the retro community. Other then that I do not know what else to say. I love Wabbo, but my full intentions are now on pleasing the the community of retros.

Due to some people pointing out that we may take advantage in our hotel being in the footer, we've removed the link. However, we're remaining listed and using the voting API just how everyone else uses it. There's no way we can "boost" our votes then.

Your API should be plainer. I see no advantage in my site joining this as I would be more of an asset to you than you would be to me. The thing about TheHabbos is they have a plain "VotingAPI" which doesnt advertise or promote TheHabbos. This means there is no potential for my users to wonder what this is and google and find the topsite and potentially join a hotel on the topsite.

While I understand you are doing good I see that HabJoy has no sort of retro players looking for the site. Unless you were to advertise HabJoy where retro players see it and go look then I see no point.

The only reason I am with TheHabbos is when you google "Habbo Retro" TheHabbos is the result first which gets clicked and then they see retros.

For the VotingAPI, I am purchasing a domain that will be in fact just dedicated to voting for the site of your choice. There are no excuses in my part for this, I can promise to you and everyone in this retro community that HabJoy will improve.

Good. If this improves I will be sure to sign up. I also suggest you improve the system in which users pick the animal to vote. Its flawed because it can easily be botted. Just set a bot to select the first image over and over till it gets it right and go through a proxy list. Its possible.

One way to fix that would be if a user gets the animal wrong present them with a random security question or a captcha code.

Yes, I had something along those lines planned. Although I want to stay away from the captcha, it just might have to be used.

Really like this, looks better than thehabbos. Also the new domain was a really good idea. If this gets more users I'll sure be using this.

In my eyes, your taking too much interest in this.

What i believe is that, thehabbos only stays popular because Josh doesn't give a damn about the site when its online, he ignores the annoying kids and requests that people throw at him.

Although your enthusiasm is admirable, don't care so much. Yes moderate the site unlike thehabbos but if you try your very hardest and put it before everything else your just gonna get a bunch of kids request stuff for their small retros; and that my friend, will drain you.

I'm not saying don't update it, I'm saying don't pay so much attention towards it to put it before everything else.

Also it looks too Habbo-y for a topsite.

A user just posted a pornographic link promoting thehabbos abbos. Unfortunately we are constantly monitoring the sites and do not tolerate these kinds of actions or promotions. As well I am constantly monitoring via my phone for anything that is inappropriate. Lastly, users with fake links will not be removed yet due to the ban system as it is under progress.
