Don't go back to WoW, not ever... they've ruined the game.
Guild wars 2 i've heard is much better, not to mention there's no monthly subscription fee.
WoW Cataclysm ? Mists of Pandaria's the latest expansion for it ... o.O
With the given expansion, is there any good reason for it to be much better than Guild Wars 2?
I have GW2 but lost interest after playing for like a week, I played WoW till level 20 though and thought it was pretty good.
As good as what these two games are said to be.. WoW is no doubt a better game in every aspect of game content, advanced game physics and balance in classes. But WoW has also killed itself when they ran out of ideas and changed alot of the game mechanics and content that people didnt really like. Thus many people left and went to another game. Guild wars 2 is... well no end game content.. you can only see yourself grinding mats and endless pvp without spending hours and hours dying in pvp.
I had exotic gears in guild wars 2 within a month of its release and quit thereafter. Tried to go back but everything feels the same.
So now.. i play diablo III (: although its a grinding game.. it is still fun to smash demons whenever you want and however you want.. the best thing is , you can pause and leave anytime lol it is relaxing!
GW2 isn't worth it really, you hit 80 get bored pvp get bored... Not a fan of Wow either! Most games now days don't have the keep me focused factor anymore... Good luck tho!
Been playing wow on retail and have been enjoying it. The changes keep the game fresh.

Who cares if they have Mists of Pandaria, you need to buy it to play on it anyway (unless you play on PS).
Guild Wars 2 releases content every week for free. There are 3 pvp mods you can play, WvW tournaments, simple PVP arena matches.
All these guys that say WoW is better they have already missed a lot of the new features GW2 introduces like weekly new content, it's 1 time purchase, dynamic events / quests, the ability to switch between crafting skills and much much more. They recently released new weapons and a whole new dungeon. Search before you post anything...
Not to mention that any comparison between the two shouldn't be made, since WoW is a mix of alot of different game expansions for several years and GW2 was released last SEPTEMBER. If you think GW2 is not worth it right now, I believe you'll change your mind after they start releasing their expansions. IMO, right now, I prefer GW2 by far.
My perspective in comparing both isn't about its expansion and how huge the game is, but generally gameplay and end content. Like for Wow to have factions and GW2 not but has this unique siege thing and also Wow end contents where you join this mini games to earn points to get gears.
Get GW2 now, and if you don't like it after a month or two, buy WoW with the money you saved on subscription fees?
To put it bluntly and not go into too much detail; Neither.
There's my opinion, in one sentence for all you tl;dr people out there.
Extended version;
My opinions about World of Warcraft.
Back in the days, in 1.12.1. I was a Retardin with Healing gear, critting down mobs with Exorcism and killstealing with 1.4k crit Hammer of Wrath.
The PVP was awesome, they had a nice PVP ranking system and it had basically everything you could ask for.
The PVE was great, tough raids, long raids and awesome drops (if you were lucky enough to get some, keep in mind people; this was back in the days when there were still 40m raids. You made sure that you had your accomplices standing by to execute the people playing the same class as you, supposing they won your item.)
When TBC came out, I kind of quit. I got back in the later patches, and fell for the game entirely. Did some raids, got to Vengeful gear and 2.1k rating with my Frost Mage and live was awesome.
Then WOTLK came along... Again; I was skeptical, as to whether it would be good or not. But I learned from the previous expansion, and I bought it straight away and started playing. I noticed relatively quickly how dull a fucking boring this fucking game became even then (in the earlier patches, don't get ahead of me here.). I was playing my Frost Mage as usual, but decided to try out the DK's. I quickly leveled up to 60, in about 1½ hours, I enjoyed the story line and the quests. Once I got to Hellfire I started SOLOING DUNGEONS! and I was all like; "The fuck have they done?!". I didn't manage to kill bosses, but with a little help from my guildies, who were also playing DK's, we 3 manned BLood Furnace and Ramparts (Only Blood DK's) with ease, and got our st0ff that we wanted so bad.
My two friends, the other two DK's, decided to start playing Horde, I stayed as Alliance, since I had my Mage with 3k gold to spare, and I wasn't going to let that go so easily.
Once my two friends surrendered to the bloody hordies, I became a night owl and spent most my time leveling. I reached 80 in the matter of 5 maybe 6 days on my 2nd character (the DK), and realized; "Wow, 2.5k gold for the Northrend quests? I could just delete this fucker and start over", and so I did. I think I leveled 5 other DK's after that and just hoarded money, until I was at around 12-15k. I bought all my mats to get enchanting up to 375 and of course: Alchemy for them hallucinogenic potions that makes you see rainbows, unicorns and st0ff.
Finally, after grinding all that money, I quit for a while, and came back with new strength and started getting into PVP and PVE more seriously. I kept my Mage as PVP, because they were fucking useless as anything else if you don't count ToGC spell steal 35k DPS.
Once ToGC was completed on 25m it was time for ICC, I had finally debunked the Gearscore addon, and my brother had made a new addon; Failscore, which I frequently used to rate people's fail-level.
E.g: "LF ppl pl0x hcs min gsssss 5k" <- That's a faillevel of 1000000 on a scale of 1-10.
Once I had managed to beat the bosses in ICC (No I never finished ICC25HC, only 8/12) 25man, I quit the game --- AGAIN.
Once the 4.x patch was live, still on WOTLK, i.e: Cata pre-patch, I started slowly playing again. But started to hate the game. Before it was just a mere ich, now it was a pain in my fucking balls to try and get things done. Couldn't PuG, cause all the cunts for 25HC required achievements from 25HC, which is just fucked up, because boss 8-12 in HC compared to normal is the fucking same, besides Lich King of course.
Anyways, I stopped playing the game again because it just seemed stupid to me.
Came back in Cata - new raids, new textures, everything was new! NO! It was the same fucking shit as in the pre-patch. Everything had been dumbed down as to were my neighbour (who was at the time 5 years old) could totally kick fucking ass in PVP. A FIVE YEAR OLD!?. I remembered when in 1.12, a naked Rogue with the starting dagger could own EVERYTHING, supposing the player behind the character was skilled enough.
Then................. Came MOP. Worst fucking shit ever... Got to 90 in about 8 hours after the release, despite huge masses of people, going after the same shit I wanted. Not going to go into MOP any further than that.
Somewhere in there is when I pre-purchased Guild Wars 2.
I had my hopes that it would revolutionize MMORPGs, have tons of quests and generally make everything better. Well... I was wrong. I loved the Beta, I played every Beta weekend and got to around level 25-27 each time, besides those times there was only 1 day at a time, I got to 22 on those.
Once the game released, I found it to be dull and boring, it didn't offer many quests, the PVP was OKAY, but not what I had hoped for. Dungeons were confusing, not challenging and not innovative.
It wasn't particularly HARD to level, but it was just a fucking boring process: "Go to this heart thingy and fuck shit up for 2 minutes and get 400exp". Fine... 15 in a zone... Now what? WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO NOW!? Well... Let's craft. Spent 10 hours grinding shit, and 2 minutes making them. 1 level........ 1 level, from 10 hours work (only counting the exp from crafting. I suppose I got like 9 grinding mobs).
It's just a painful process to get the shittiest experience you have ever laid your eyes on.
In summary;
World of Warcraft: 1.12 - GOOD! 2.4.3 - GOOD! 3.3.5a - GOOD!(With some flaws) Cata and MoP - ................ No comment, I haven't got any words for how bad these expansions are/were.
I hope you liked this tl;dr, and I hope you enjoyed my outburst with a lot of fine words like "Fuck" "cunt" "shit" and other goodies.
For those of you who actually read the thing; have I made an impact on your opinions about GW2 and WoW?
Are you going to bomb Blizzard for fucking up a good game? If you are: Blizzard, I cannot be held liable for what people do after reading this post, but you have to admit; it's your own fucking fault!
Nah it didn't change my mind about GW2. :3
It has a lot of features you haven't realized yet and there are going to be many more to come over the years. Blizzard has made WoW really boring, at least on GW2 you have to think on how to kill a boss ( something you didn't describe), a dungeon on GW2 is really competitive, it's not tanking and DPS, every boss has it's own way it can be killed.
Quest Part. The quests are actually dynamic and each zone has different ones which occur for a couple of players in a zone to promote group playing. (Still there are solo ones) Every quest is well explained and competitive also rewards seem to vary from bronze medals to silver and gold ones.
Heart Part. Hearts are some kind of quests, the only difference is that you need to finish them to actually complete the map you are playing on. After you finish them you get rewarded with an amount of EXP, karma and coin (these vary on each zone and heart).
Last but not least the game hasn't been out for a year and yet people are giving it hate, let it show what it can do. The developers are always active, they release content almost every week or a month and I am sure after this summer we will get the first expansion. Imagine, the game is already big what could happen with an expansion on it?
WoW has too many expansions that you need to buy in order to play on them plus you need to pay subscription fees to continue playing. So far it has 4 expansions making the game a gigantic mass of space on our HD over 50 gbs? I liked WoW myself when I used to play but I got bored over time and the game lost its juice of interest for me. Since GW2 has a lot more features than WoW, I would feel I am giving up on a big promotion to be the guy that cleans the toilets. Thanks for reading.
I didn't want people to change their opinions of GW2, whether they've played it or not. I didn't describe much about GW2, because I didn't want to, people should explore that for themselves.
It's a really great game, just not a great game... For me.
Since they lack the most basic of things in an MMORPG, something that we take for granted and expect; Quests.
MoP is much better than the other expansions....I haven't played GW2 so I cannot do any comparison..I have GW and hate it...soo boring...
End game on Throne of Thunder 5.2 expansion is epic...they brought back the old raid mechanics so you have to actually learn a fight and move around constantly...no more sitting and mashing buttons....
Lei Shen fight is the hardest fight I've ever played on WoW...in LFR once our group had 10 stacks of determination...one mistake and you will wipe...it's a blast...
WoW is a totally different beast than it was back in vanilla....this i agree on...but some changes are for the better...some are for the worse...but all around WoW is a good way to spend the money cause it really never gets boring...bored of one thing..move on to something else...pet leveling...farming...pvp...raiding...dungeons....hell..just sit in a major city and crack up at the idiots on trade...
And in response to a previous post...I don't believe you hit 90 in 9 hours...when it was released I was on grinding constantly on my arcane mage for twice that long before hitting 90...85-88 is a snap yes...but 88-90 takes FOREVER!
WoW peaked in WotLK, since then it has been going down hill. I disagree with their design goals now frankly. It should be easy for a new player to enter raiding, because that's how guilds should be gaining members, and it refreshes the game population. This alone is going to kill WoW, because for every 1 player who quits due to boredom, replacing that player is so much harder. Sure making the entry requirement low means the population created it's own metric, gear score and achievement requiring, but frankly I preferred that because it's population driven.
I also hate that they won't let people do what they want to do, you need to do lots of other shit. Want to raid? Sorry first you need to do dailies for a month. There's no choice, which is something GW2 really shined at with it's gear/level normalisation system.
As for Lei Shen, I call bullshit. If anything bosses have been getting easier. Vanilla there were unkillable bosses, stuff didn't die for months of it's release. Hell even up to LK25HC not a single group killed him on 0% buff, the first kill was around 10% I believe. Though to be fair the difficulty ramp up to that fight was silly. Pretty much every mechanic it had was a raid wipe, lol. Wrongly dropped shadow trap? Wipe! Defile in wrong place? Wipe! Someone run into defile for 1 tick? Wipe! Spirits not killed properly? Wipe! Everyone not doing frostmourne correctly? Wipe! Such a harsh fight compared to the normal mode, and that was silly hard for most guilds :D
88-90 didn't seem too hard for me. It depends on how far ahead of the curve you are, if you get in early enough and get to a new area quickly the leveling speed gets progressively quicker. Plus if he was lucky he could pick up a load of treasures/rares for awesome exp. I tend to do 89-90 purely with treasures on my alts, getting a friend to drive me around on a 2 player mount. I can see 89-90 taking about 2 hours if most of the player base is sub 89.
Tell that to the bosses that were mathematically impossible to kill until they were nerfed. C'Thun pre-nerf with 100% optimal gear/dps, simply couldn't do it even before the reset bug. Then you have 4 horsemen, needing 8 really well geared tanks (they all needed the 4pc tier set bonus for taunt...).
Everything in Vanilla was harder frankly, which is why I personally hated the game back then. I played beta and release, there were many games better than it back then imo. Want to do a dungeon? You need a key for that! Raid? Spend months getting different types of resist gear! But hell some aspects were awesome, AV taking hours was insane, it's such a shame it was nerfed to shit. :( I used my Frostwolf Howler well into WotLK. It simply was harder, because it wasn't designed very well. You should be able to tell that by the retarded itemisation on some gear alone.
As for DBM/Big Wigs, I started to turn mine off in ICC because I didn't need it. It's more of a learning tool imo, but then I'm a holadin so I didn't really care about timers or anything, I react to loss of health more than anything. I couldn't live without VuhDo though!
Guildwars > WoW anytime, but the original Guildwars is much better than the second, imho.
never played GW's but the non subscription is appealing. Wow has a large userbase and is a fun game. So, depends. If finances are in order, go wow ? if you're cheap, gw2.
I just played Mist of Pandaria on a private server and unexpectedly I thought they had their own land to grind. Started the game and my main quest was to choose a faction and restarts from the very same old lands. Probably I'll have to try out either GW2 or NW. lol
Panda's do have a starting area if that is what you mean, it's a giant turtle and pretty cool. I wouldn't base your opinion of a game on a private server, they are rarely as polished/populated as an official server. There should be a trial for the official server, you should give it a try I guess. But tbh the appeal of WoW is end game raiding, so you won't gain any experience in what makes WoW good anyway.
I'm going to be trying NW when it comes out, it reminds me a lot of GW2. I doubt it will be any good personally, but I always give mmos the benefit of the doubt.
A private server is completely missing the starting quests for MoP..you are level 20 through Panda Land when you choose your faction and are teleported to the main city of your choice...
There are GW2 private servers if you feel like testing the game.
I like WOW more. GW2 started getting me bored pretty quick.
GW2 has way more features than WoW. I am not saying GW2 is better(it is) but I am trying to see here where does all this excitement about WoW is coming from. Sure it's been a nice game so far but with all these expansions you need to buy and the subscriptions you need to pay, it's kind of tough for everyone to play on the retail servers.
