Xbox: A New Generation Revealed
Hey Guys,
It has been announced recently that the new generation of Xbox will be announced on Tuesday, May 21, 2013. I will update this thread when they announce the new console, but here's the image on Xbox.com and on the Xbox LIVE Dashboard.

So, in the mean time, what are some of the things you want to see in the next generation of the Xbox Console?
Re: Xbox: A New Generation Revealed
/shrug - that illumiroom thing mentioned awhile back was pretty neat as a concept idea, be great if it becomes official for the new console's release.

For that amount it better be able to play all the Xbox games. Even games from the first Xbox.

I doubt it will be able to do that. Just go jtag / flash your 360 if it's them games you want to play, or even easier; buy the first xbox?

Also I think £200-£300 would be a reasonable price, considering it is rumoured to have fantastic / almost life like graphics (which I hope it does).

Naw, first xbox controllers are too big! But it should be able to play them, because PS3 aloud to play PS2 maybe even PS1 games. (Never owned a Playstation) so I wouldn't know.

Only the very first gen of PS3 was able to play both PS1 and PS2 games. The gen after that only supported PS1 games and they removed support for the previous gen Playstation consoles completely after that.

I'm going to assume that it will at least play the Xbox 360 games, if it not all of them, at least the most popular or most recent ones. The 360 plays a decent amount of the Original Xbox games, but it does not play a lot of the best games from that time period. Were you really expecting it to be any less? If you really want to make sure it's worth the money, just wait until after Christmas or the summer time, the prices start to drop after January/February because most people have blown their Christmas money by then.
@Dgit It would be nice if you could though. I hope they don't close all the 360 servers right away. They should allow you to play old games while online this time. You can't be on LIVE when playing Original Xbox games on the 360.
@Lapje Why would they disallow it in newer releases? PlayStation Logic. Only thing I could think of is if it would affect other features that played a role in the PS3.
Either way, I'm still very excited to see what it's called, and to see what features it has. I really hope they get away from all the Kinect BS. It was never a good idea, and they should have figured that out from observations of the failure known as the "Wii", PlayStation Move, and any other forms of that type of gaming. That's not what gaming is about, if someone doesn't want to go outside and be active, what makes you think they'll be active inside, waste of money and time as far as their company.
I would really like to see some new features as far as saving games and purchasing games. PlayStation has Steam already, and I think that would be pretty cool. They really need bigger Hard Drives. The original Xbox 360s came with 20GB HDDs. NOT ENOUGH. That only lasts so long, and once they start with DLCs and such it gets so cluttered.

The 360 servers will be staying online for atleast 5 more years, you never know the accounts and servers may pass onto the next generation/different consoles, just like playstations You can use the same account on most platforms.

I'm excited for it. Though I won't be home to watch the video as soon as it drops due to me taking national examinations. But it'll be the first thing I do when I get home. I'm not expecting M$ to disappoint me here. They know what they have to work with and hopefully a lot more effort goes into this.

I'm hoping for the names to reset actually. I think they will because there is no longer as big of a variety of names. I want more of an original one on Xbox. Preferably the one I'm using on this forum. I think they should separate the Xbox Live Servers from Windows Live Servers because some names aren't available because they're taken by Windows Live Accounts, for example, "Wreckless" is taken. :C
I think they should use the same accounts, but allow for name changes somehow.

Hopefully, there won't be any major issues that give PlayStation fans a reason to hate on it. For example, RRoD, biggest issue that could have been fixed in the earlier generations very easily if Microsoft had used the correct tools to fix them. Red Ring of Death was definitely the biggest downfall for Xbox, likewise the hacked PS3 servers was their biggest downfall. What we pay for on Live, SECURE SERVERS!

It will allow you to play all 360 games, just like the Call of Duty Ghosts (next CoD) will be a 360 disk. This is because of course the year this xbox gets released; not every cod user will convert. Therefore, let us assume most games until around jan/feb '14 will be 360 games, so as to allow people to buy the new xbox over the Christmas period...
